I've been wondering that with everyone starting school again, do any of you have to pay to take the bus to and from school? For me, this started last year, they made us pay $180.00 to take the bus. Now they've bumbed it up to $200.00.

Owch. For us its $150.00 both ways, but grade school is $300 both ways. And every single day, we've been late for school. Stupid transportation department.

Is this for public school?? I've never had to pay to ride the bus to school. Why do you have to pay for a school ride?? To me, that makes no since.

They must go to some fancy Private school, because you don't have to pay to ride a bus to public school.

If this is for public school, this would be another reason to get into a private school.

Hmm, mine's free, but it sucks horribly. It's really crowded and nobody I know rides it save one person.

Actually, I am in a Public school. Our bus is always crowded and the bus driver is a jerk, so it really sucks over here. I think the transportation department over here is just greedy.

My private elementary school (up to Gr. 7) used to have a school bus that you paid for on an annual basis, but now that the school's been expanded to take 450 students, they got rid of the bus, period!
Feel priveledged to have a bus - I was lucky to be able to ride it when I went to school. Now my bro needs to be driven there each day.

Where in the world do you live?! I thought our school board was were cheap. Espiecally, this year. I am going to go on ranting for you. ;) They shouldn't make you pay for a school bus ride to school, I know that is proably to make the bus driver's happy that they get paid more and the school board saves money. But, come on isn't school about going the full term and education?! What if some family has trouble paying for the fee? And they are even to poor to buy gas every day for their kid to go school? Dosen't the county reliezed by doing this that kids are going to miss more school because, of money issues?! And even the kids from richer families, I think they would miss out on summer vacations, new school clothes, and other stuff they need to get along all beacause they have to save $200.00 per kid to ride a bus? And this brings to my mind another thing, what if there is a large family? How are they suppose to pay that money for those kids with other expenses in mind? You should try to get a petition or something going.

That's one of the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why do they make you pay to ride a crappy bus like that? I've never heard of anyone paying to ride a bus. You should boycot. :)
Believe it or not, I like riding my bus. It gives me a good chance to talk to friends who I don't see in school. My bus driver is pretty cool too. She let's us do almost anything we want.

Ugh! I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've begged and pleaded for my mother to give me a ride home! But she says, "No way, I payed $200 for that pass!" And yes, I go to public school. =__= Grrr. I have no idea what bus I ride, either. It's so crowded they kicked me off to another bus, but they said there's no room for me there, either. I feel so unwanted. :(
PAYING FOR THE BUS!? 200 BUCKS!? GOD i'd save that money and walk.

Wow, I would never pay 300 dollars to ride the school bus for a year. I would Bike or have my parents take me. Paying 300 dollars to ride a bus is crazy.

I don't pay for the bus ride, but I hate it nonetheless. The children are obnoxious and the bus driver does not give mindless cursing a second thought.

I'm some what happy to know I'm not the only one, but it's also upsetting to know what will happen to poor familys of familys with too many kids. I'd walk if I could, but I'm too far away from the school. My parents also don't have time since they have to leave way before school starts. It seems that some grade schoolers have it worse then me, I mean $300 to ride the bus to and from school!
It seems that some people care more about the money, then helping kids get an education.

Hey Pilmedium, you don't happen to go to my school, do you? Because that is the same exact thing I was going to say!

Well about the Paying for the school bus thing, That is more like my city with a transit system, since there are only 2 buses in the morning that go to the high school.

LOL! This topic reminds me of the bus station scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back . When Jay says "Pay to ride the bus? Didn't we used to ride this **** to school everyday for free?"
You guys should boycott the damned busses until they become free. They're not exactly a limo ride. :p

That is beyond outragous, and legal action is called for. To charge that much money to transport a child to and from school, and then to deny them that service after it's payed for is fraud. You need to take them to court for this. Sue the school board, sue the bus company and sue the city. Make sure every newspaper in town knows about what's going on too. If you've paid for thier services, they are obligated by law to provide those services. Your bus pass is a legal contract.

Yeah, you need to take a stand on this one. Boycotting, refusing to pay, holding the mayor of the city hostage with a 12-gauge shotgun, whatever needs to be done.
