Frankly, about all we know to be 100% accurate about the U.S. airing is that a) the series exists, and b) it will air on Adult Swim. That's about it.

As for the Japanese airing, during the course of October 1st through October 7th, the original series is going to premiere on 7 different stations (Sun TV, MX TV, Chiba TV, TV Saitama, TV Kanagawa, KBS Kyoto, and TV Aichi). Presumably, as soon as it finishes airing, the second season will begin right where the first leaves off.

Apparently, the manga series is also being re-serialized in Japan to coincide with the event.

Oh, and watch out for September 10th. That's when the Japanese website for the series is set to open. We should get quite a bit of interesting information out of that.

Will Cartoon Network be rerunning The Big O "1" ? I never saw it, but heard it was great. It would also be nice to see it before watching the second series.

Meh I may watch Big O 2, but I was never really interested in the 1st one. For some reason it reminded me of Batman (don't ask). I stopped watching the 1st one after like 5 eps, just never held my interest.

Seeing as I'm the biggest Big O fan on the face of the Earth, I sure hope they re-air the first 13 episodes to attract more attention to the second series. I don't see a reason why they wouldn't though.

I can. Well, at least I think I can. Here are the possibilities:

1. Schedules. They might not have everything that could fit into the schedules perfectly.

2. Perfect lineup. Well, at least what they think is a perfect lineup right now.

3. Not wanting to show it until after Big O 2 has finished. That way, they could still rack in ratings.

Hello to everyone, first off...

The Big O's character/mecha designer had previously worked on Batman:TAS, and was definitely paying homage to the older series with his work.

Both series are favorites of mine. It'll be interesting to see how The Big O 2 picks up.

First off, I'd like to say hi and welcome to Toonzone, where everything we say here is all about toons (thus the name Toonzone). Please check the FAQ's for more information and don't try to get banned. ;)

so, there's really not any information to "round-up" at this point.

Um...you could say that.

I also like to welcome you to Toonzone boards and have a nice time here. :)

Oh and where we refer to Big O 1, we refer it to the first 13 episodes. When we refer to Big O 2, we refer it to the next 13 episodes.

I really do hope they show the first season before they show the second season, even if it has Toonami edits, because I only caught a little of the first season.

No Toonami promo or hearing Peter say, "Forty years ago, the world became a place without memory....."

Big O 1 will NOT run on ASA. It may rerun on the Toonami Midnight Run, however.

Before you critisize that, remember, Toonami's gonna air OLS in November unless some miracle happens and it doesn't win PttP. OLS is also still slated to continue on ASA through November. So they don't have any problem airing the same series anymore, unless they're planning on changing their plans.

Why are you so confident that OlS is going to win PttP?

Well let me guess here if Outlaw Star was never on Toonami, it would never get edited as much,(more like Cowboy Bebop) So it would be a very good series like that.

I have the first volume and it has quite a bit of violance and Languege in it, and I just hope I can get the other 2 volumes then I can give you some hents on it.

I saw the uncut before the edited, and I never really minded watching the edited much. The only Adult Swim edit that bothers me is them misplacing the opening.

I didn't know Toonami was doing that again. Must've missed the promos for it.

They said that Outlaw Star and Cardcaptors were the only choices they had picked out, but ReBoot will most likely be there as well. Don't know more than that.

Just wondering, is Big O 2 set to wrap the series up, or just continue the story?

Joe Tully

I haven't seen anything to give the impression that it'll be wrapping up the series. Likely, CN will want to be able to continue on with the series if the second season does well.

Well, there's really not much information we know for sure. Here are the questions as I see them:

1.) Who makes The Big O 2?

As nearly as I can determine, Cartoon Network has provided the funding and will air it on American television, and Sunrise animation (including all the original writers and animators) will be doing the actual series, with all the original voice actors doing the American dubs.

2.) Is Bandai involved?

The official word, as far as I can determine, is no, although someone quoted a Bandai representative as saying that "their involvement is top secret." I find this to be more than a little suspect, myself.

3.) Will it air on Toonami or Adult Swim?

The official word is that it will be on Adult Swim, which would seem to me to be far the most likely proposition- The Big O is a show aimed at adults, and Adult Swim is the property that Cartoon Network is pushing right now.

4.) When will it air?

This is the subject of many rumours. I've heard everything from this September (highly unlikely) to the vague "Winter 2003" (which I feel to be the most likely).

5.) Will it come out on DVD? If so, when?

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm hoping that they'll get Bandai to do the DVDs again, since I feel they did a fine job with the first four, but that might just be wishful thinking.

6.) Since Cartoon Network is funding the second season, will there be cut and uncut versions as per the first season, or will there only be the cut version that will air on Cartoon Network?

Again, your guess is as good as mine. My hope is that Cartoon Network will allow the original writers and animators full creative control, and THEN decide what edits (if any) need to be made in order to air it on American television. But there's no official word on this to my knowledge, so all we can do is hope.

7.) How many new episodes will there be?

The number I keep hearing is 13, but to my knowledge there is no official word on this.

8.) Will the second season end the series, or will there be more seasons after this?

Your guess is as good as mine, although I haven't heard anything to convince me that this season will end the story. Given the way CN has been doing business lately, I'd say the likelihood of a third (or more) season depends on the popularity of the second when it airs.

9.) Will the first season be aired before the second?

Again, I don't believe there is any official word on this, although there have been some good arguments on why Cartoon Network may or may not decide on airing the first season again on this thread already.

From my advice, Big O is not too bad of an anime but the results ofr it being on Toonami is still cloudy.

Is Sunrise done making the episodes?

As long as the series is as good as the first half, I'll be happy. Well, that and David Lucas does Roger Smith again (Which, from earlier info from this post seems to be happening). I'm kind of surprised it did well enough for Cartoon Network to put up the cash for it. They'll probably get a nice chunk of cash from the DVD release to make up for it though.

I'm certain that Big O 2 will be twice as awesome as the first season.
