For those of you out there with Dogs, what kind of tricks do you make your dog do for a 'treat'?

My dog must first sit, then hand shake, lay down, then high five! She's good at what she does. :p

Aww, how cute! My dog does almost the same thing. First she sits, shakes, lies down, and she catches the treat. My other dog knows what to do, but she's just to lazy. =P

My dog has to not stare at me while I eat, bust the door open when she wants to see what's going on in my room when I want the door shut but not fully shut, she has to settle down at night, she has to not bark at every little thing, she has to learn to never try to get offer her leash.

I'm still waiting for all that to happen.

Sit, lay, roll over, "shake", and whatever else she could never learn - she won't listen to us for stuff like that and she'd probably obliterate either mentally or phsyically anyone else trying to train her.

I can get my dog to sit, shake, lie down and jump up for any morsel of food. Fetching is a hopeless trick though. She doesn't seem to get the concept of not only getting the ball, but that she needs to bring it back....Hey, you know there are actual Scooby Snacks? I saw them at Petco last time I picked up catfood, it was pretty dang cool.

Hey, you know there are actual Scooby Snacks?

Yep. I bought some for my little sister's dog at Petsmart. As far as what she can get the dog to do for a treat... absolutely nothing. She's trying to get the dog to grasp the concept of you giving her the treat instead of her taking the treat out of your hand. :p

My dog is a putz. He's pretty obedient for my sister (who is his real "owner", and spends the most time with him), so he only listens to me when I have food...or offer him one of his favourite things ever. (Park, Beach, Car Ride, Walk)

Anyway, I like to send my dog through a nice little obstacle course of commands...sit, down, stay, stand, around, shake, high five, kiss, fetch...and only after all that, does he get anything. He's good and really eager to please, providing pleasing ME would end up pleasing his stomach. :)

Now, what would IIIII do for a Scooby Snack? :D Uhhhh...I dunno. Just what is the nutritional value of those things, again?

I make my dog bark. She never barks. She knows how to do tricks, but the commands are in a completely different language so I don't even bother. Although we have been able to get her to sit when we say "sit," but she doesn't like to listen to me  .

My dog either hast to catch the treat or wait until I tell him he can have it. It's funny, we can say "No treat" and he'll turn his head away until we say treat. He can sit, too, but he tries to do it automatically lately.

My cat, on the other hand, will Stand on her hind legs, turn in a circle, sit and speak for her treats. I think she think she's a dog.

It's not what the dog will do for a treat, it's how quickly we can get it for him! A yap and then he sits. Expect no more (and I reckon he sits simply because it's more comfy...)

That's what happens when you have an intelligent dog - it does what it pleases... sometimes it's like owning a cat! :)

That's a heck of an awesome cat Ren! No way my cat would do something like that though, she would just walk away or give me an evil glare because I've offended her. yet, sometimes, but not trick wise, she's like a dog....my dad calls her "spot" sometimes. She'll follow him anywhere, it's awesome. Won't follow me, or anyone else, just my dad. He'll be going upstairs and she'll be downstairs at a window. All he has to do is say "Come on, Spot!" or something along those lines and she'll come bounding over to him and follow him, or race him, up the stairs. If we try anything like that with the dog, she races over and knocks us to the ground because she's overly affectionate.

I don't make my dogs do tricks, I mostly give them treats when they stole something and I want it back. (I'm too lazy to chase after them.) Or if there on a walk and have gone too far and get lost. Finally, to get them inside when we let them out to play and to do their business.
