Does anyone here have parents like Seinfelds parents. Like when they get something for a cheaper price, they brag about it. My father does this continually, its like he accomplished something great. I love the man, but sometimes it gets a bit irritating, especially in front of strangers. My dad is pretty old, is this trait common to people of elderly age or is it just my dad?

My mom does. She shops at Wal-Mart and K-mart just to get stuff cheap. That is not me.

My uncle fits that description to a T. My boyfriend is like that too - he's always trying to "cut a deal" for almost anything, whether it be hockey/baseball tickets, cell phones, or video games (case in point - he was trying to get Mario Sunshine last night and we went almost everywhere to places that would have it out a day early). :o

My mom is the cheap one, and it kind of gets on my nerves a bit. My dad on the other hand would spend and spend if my mom didn't put a stop to it.

My mom is always shopping for a bargain. If I can get a good price on stuff I buy quite a bit, like DVDs for example, I am all over it, but for the most part, I am not going to lose sleep if I don't save 50¢ on milk this week if I decide to pick it up at the 7-11 rather than going across town to Hy Vee. Sometimes, my time is more valueable and I get stuff for conveience and to get home.

Lol, even though I don't live there, wal mart rules! "If wal mart doesn't have it; it isn't worth getting".

My mother CONSTANTLY brags about how much money she saves!! Its one of her more annoying traits. Whenever she comes home from grocery shopping, she gives this speech:
"Look at this reciept! With Vons Club I saved $12 and with coupons I saved $24!! Thats $36 saved and all I had to do was clip coupons and.....BRENDA!! ARE YOU LISTENING!?"
In fact, today she took me and my younger sister to this new discount clothing store (all the clothes are $10 or less) and she kept looking at the origional price tags and prattling on and on about how my skirt would have cost $25 if I had gone to a regular store.
I love my mother, but I REALLY wish she would talk about something other than how much money she saves on everything

Eeep...your parents do that? Man, IIIIIII do that - especially when I find huge, huge bargains on eBay that are over $100 cheaper than they should be. :) I think that's cause for celebration!

That would be my father. He complains about missing a sale or a coupon expiring, to the point where the product is not bought at the time. He brags about saving trivial amounts of money on gasoline for the car.
