First off, let me say, welcome to the boards. Be sure to read the FAQ, follow the guidelines, and enjoy yourself.
Now, about the article...eh. I think we've yet to see a really good article about Adult Swim. This one is probably the most educated one we've seen, as he seems to be somewhat of a fan, but any "article" that says they won't cover half of the material because they don't really like it, isn't all that fair.
The other (main) problem I have with it is the characterization of Jason:
"Jason, who seems to mumble quite a bit, plays the part of a rich snobby kid who always second-guesses Brendon's directing decisions."
They only showed his "rich" side in one episode. I think that was a mistake, and apparently, the creators did, too, as they never mentioned his family's wealth again. Calling him a "rich snobby kid" is probably the worst characterization I've heard so far. He's not really a hard kid to characterize, but this guy managed to get it wrong.
The rest of the article (even the rest of the Home Movies write-up) seemed to be more or less accurate. Sure, most of us could have written something a lot better, but, for someone outside of our wacky AS cult, the guy does a decent job.

Great article. I still don't see why people like Home Movies , but I guess what ever brings in ratings. Still, where is Adult Swim Action?

ASA just isn't worth reviewing yet.. in my opinion. I mean, thus far half of it's Toonami material.
For the actual review itself, it really wasn't as bad as most. Sure, the Home Movies thing wasn't the most accurate, but hey. Maybe he just doesn't like Jason, and bases his opinion on that. *shrug* As for the lack of complete reviews, it's probably better for him that he didn't review what he wasn't interested in. Negative opinions always get flames. And if he doesn't care about them, he's not gonna know much about them. Let someone who's a fan handle those reviews.
Okay, I'm done looking like an idiot.

FINALLY! An article about AS that isn't focused on HB:AAL. It really does sound like this guy has seen a few nights of ASC.

There are articles focused solely on HB:AAL? Weird...

Hey guys... I was the one who wrote the article, actually. And I appreciate all the feedback.
It's true, I wouldn't have done the other shows justice, because I'm not big fans of them. I watch them all, but don't have the love that I do for the three I talked about.
I'm sorry my description of Jason was off, I had planned on getting deeper with each show, but time restraints and length was starting to pile up. It's no excuse, just an apology.
I hope you enjoyed the article. It was more for awareness of those who haven't seen AS yet. What else could I have done better?

Eh, heh heh. :o Well, I feel like a real jackass, right now. Sorry about some of the unneccessarily harsh criticism. The thing is, most of us here are AS fanatics, so some people, like me, may get kind of uptight about errors.
It's really not you. It's just that we've seen a few articles that have really screwed things up, so any small problems in an article are just dissapointing because of Adult Swim's past history with the press.
Again, sorry about some of the stuff I said. It wasn't meant to be directed to the author, just some general whining on my part.

Not bad. Focused on what are probably the 3 strongest shows, brief, accurate (yeah, jason, i know) descriptions of the shows, all in all, probably a good intro for someone who doesn't know about Adult Swim.
So that leads me to my question: Who is this article geared towards? Who will see it? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with "the-trades", so perhaps someone could enlighten me about core audience/ readership... I guess what I'm asking is, will this bring people to AS?

At The Trades, we position ourselves as Entertainment Industry Analysts... we do a lot of reviews/thought pieces on movies, television shows, books, games, etc. A lot of our readers are movie fans and reality television show fans, but that base is growing daily. We have 1-3 new columns daily (or try), and we're hoping that others will see the new columns and read them. In this case, maybe someone who doesn't know about Adult Swim. Why even some of the staffers are going to watch it now because of the column.
Does that help?

Don't sweat it. I'm a writer and have a thick shell. I appreciate the comments and can understand how details can get irritating. Thanks for reading it, I'll do much better next time. ;)

[indent]Wow! The Trades has really expanded their coverage. Do you guys still cover The Hollywood Stock Exchange also? I used to read The Trades all the time a few years ago.

This is a lot different than most of the articles that I've read. The guy actually likes Sealab.

 :) Phew. Good thing I didn't reply to the article just yet. I was about to post some negative comments on the article. Mind you, that is what I focus on all articles just to see how much they miss.
But out of curiosity, what did you think about Saturday's Adult Swim? :)

On all articles period, or just all the ones on AS?

On articles that talk about things that I happen to be a fan on. AS is one of those things.

Wow, everyone is so timid. Go ahead and criticize! Barkertron obviously came here for some honest feedback from the "cult" fans. Let him know what you think.
Now what did I think? Good, humorous capsules of some of the best AS shows. You explained the plot behind Sealab 2021 better than I've ever been able to understand it. Instead of just listing the non-reviewed shows, however, maybe you could have given a one sentence description of each. That way folks would have an idea what they're in for. And it might have been worth mentioning which shows are 15 minutes or 30 minutes long.
Overall, good stuff. Keep it up!

Yes, we still do a lot of HSX stuff, but we're trying to cut back on that and focus more on regular entertainment stuff. But it won't be going away at all.

I haven't watched Saturday night Adult Swim yet... I have a hard time getting into the anime series shows. Plus I'm usually never home at that time. ;)

Thanks... yeah, I started to do that, but was finding it hard to come up with one-liners. And I should've added the length of show to each one... ah oh well.. I just want people to watch Adult Swim.
