Viz is notorious for changing its opening sequences for shows it acquired that have aired on TV(Zoids CC and Zero and bleech, Hamtaro  ), so I was wondering if they'll use the actual opening for Inuyasha when it airs. I know it'll at least have english in the credits in the opening, but will we see the real thing, or another Viz hack-up?

We'll see an English dub of "Change the World" rather than the original opening. I believe the ending theme has been dubbed, too. It'll be along the lines of Yu Yu Hakusho's, only I think I heard that they actually got the pre-recorded version, so they're not re-scoring it like FUNi did.

The dub will air with the Japanese songs intact. English credit text and an English logo under the Japanese one.

Well I like the opening... so, yes, it is.

They made an English version of the opening so I imagine they'll use the same animation with the new dub played over it.

And I HIGHLY doubt the ending songs will be seen since all of them are actual bands in Japan and VIZ would have to buy the rights to those songs from the record companies

Yes, without the openings, Adult Swim Action would be Toonami. Taking the openings off and making a Toonami opening that appeals to a mainstream audience is censorship of the worst kind.

Well, I think it's a catchy song...but it really doesn't fit well with the Inu-Yasha theme. It's just too dang peppy and up-beat.

Well, it's not that the song is peppy and upbeat that it doesn't fit. The second opening, "I Am" by Hitomi, is also upbeat and peppy and yet fits pretty well. The reason I feel "I Want To Change The World" doesn't fit is because it's a frickin' boyband song, sung by boyband V6. It sounds like N'Sync with Korean accents.

Now, V6 isn't as bad as N'Sync because they don't try to sound pseudo emotional. But still, a boyband singing the opening song to a series about a high school girl and a half-demon boy in a story set in feudal Japan? I don't think so.

At least the ending, "My Will", is a lot better. I hope they play it in its entirely on Adult Swim. After all, they did allow "The Real Folk Blues" ending on "Cowboy Bebop" to run in its entirety. And also the two "Outlaw Star" endings, which were actually shown on Toonami, interestingly enough...

Oh okay, I see it now. So basically, there's a rule that states boybands cannot sing in a girl protagonist show.

And yet, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star was handled by Bandai. Inu-Yasha is handled by Viz. These are two different companies handeling their own products.

Actually they don't really care whether it goes off track and stuff. Unlike Toonami, Adult Swim is set at nighttime, where other shows don't need to be on schedule.

Not really. It's not censorship, but more of a...uh...keeping in to Toonami's mood. And sometimes, Toonami openings are even better than the original opening. Take Mobile Suit Gundam for example.

i don't think having the original opening would make an impact on the content of the show.

It doesn't have any impact whatsoever. But it sure as hell makes the audiences and the otakus happy.

The difference between OLS/CB and IY is that OLS and CB had soings made specifically for them,IY used current pop hits such as Do as Infinity's "Fuka Morie" from the Deep Forrest album (DaI's best BTW).

And Viz aired all the Ranma openings nicely,a few we're out of order but no biggy.

The fact that the show has a girl protagonist has nothing to do with it. There are just some kinds of music that do not fit within the boundaries of this show. Boyband music is just one of them. What if the opening had been the European dance beat music from "Initial D"? It won't work, because it doesn't fit. That's how I feel about the first opening.
