Here's a partial account from a fellow PPG fan, who attended the recent Comic Books conventiom in San Diego, where Craig McCracken put in an appearance:
"They also showed the outcut footage (from the PPG movie.) Now, I won't spoil this, as Craig announced that in spring of `03, Cartoon Network is going to release a Director's Cut in widescreen format, restoring all the cuts that the WB insisted on. WB will have NOTHING to do with this issue of the film; it is Craig's and CN's baby alone. When his was announced, the audience broke into sustained, deafening applause."

Spring of 2003? Translation: everyone has to buy a crap version in the fall. I wish CN would just split from WB. Sure, in the beginning Time-Warner helped them, but now the WB is absorbing the least profitable companies ever like AOL. I wouldn't be surprised if they bought the Spam(R) company.
What does CN have to gain from these idiots nowadays? Justice League, Looney Tunes, Baby Blues, Baby Looney Tunes, Batman, Superman, Mission Hill, The Oblongs? That's not enough, I say jump this singing ship, CN!

If this refers to the DVD release, then this is exciting news. I suppose they'll release the butchered version for the masses (Complete with No Secret's music video. Eeeeeeeew. Pitty the fools.) while Craig gives us his original vision in Spring of 2003. Hey, we may have to wait A little longer, but it's worth it. Way to go, Craig! Don't let those WB suites spit on your movie! Let 'em make millions off Harry Pooper, Giant Spiders, and Scooby-Poo crap while you give us the movie you wanted us to see! You, and the Cartoon Network staff should be in charge of all future movies, and show these boneheads how to do it right!

Yes, we'll have to wait for it. But at least we'll get it.

The DVD was originally slated to come out in Christmas.
I'm sure the new uncut DVD is negating the old one. I doubt a cut version will be sold. How would you market an uncut PPG DVD to parents? Putting "uncut" on anything will make them think it's not safe for kids (though it is).

Oh yea!! You rock Cartoon network! You rock Craig! This will be awesome!! An uncut PPG movie DVD!
Glad to hear this. I still haven't seen the movie, but I'll most definately see it now that they'll be restoring it...even though I'll have to wait. :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssss!
I can't wait until it comes out on DVD! This should be excellent. I'm glad that Cartoon Network is finally not listening to WB all the time! It's about time they stand up!

I agree with Jimmy Kustes. Warner Bros. needs to get with the program on animation. ("Justice League" is the best thing they can offer Cartoon Network. Not to mention "Looney Tunes", "Batman", "Superman", and "Batman Beyond") and if they want to continue profiting from Cartoon Network, they better start listening to them, and not order them around like A bunch of dictators. Remember, (Warner Bros.) you've profited from animation before, you can profit from it again. Just don't run the show like you know everything because you don't. let the people who know animation run the show, and let the chips fall where they may. Lord know we don't want you to end up like Di$ney!

YAY! YAY! YAY!:D:D:D:D:D
It will be hard to wait until Spring, but it will be worth it! I had a feeling that the PpG movie would have to pull a "Return of the Joker move" in order for us to see all the cut footage, but at least we'll get to see the movie the way Mr.McCracken intended:).
*sigh*I wish I could have gone to Comic Con this year:(

Ok let's get some things straight...
Cartoon Network will not split from the WB anytime soon. While there may be more of an effort now that one of the main CEOs of the AOL Time Warner family left, the same one that was promoting corporate "synergy" between the companies.
Second, they will not put "uncut" on the box, "widescreen with additional footage" sounds good to everyone.
Finally, I don't know if they will be releasing 2 DVDs. If they are the normal one in the theaters will be right before Christmas and the Widescreen one will be out on in the spring. Hell it won't be any different than what they are doing with the Lord of the Rings release. One now, the next one before the second film, but with more extras. Personally I think its stupid. Who is going to BUY the dvd with less extras?

Wouldn't that go in the extras(, etc.) part of the DVD or DVDs? Well no one can be sure right now.

I hope they include the Dexter cartoon "Chicken Scratch" on the DVD. It's bad enought I've been waiting for Warner Bros. to put Dexter on DVD.

I find it surprising they don't have Dexter on DVD. They do have Samurai Jack which is almost new. Don't get me wrong I like Samurai Jack and Dexter. I'm glad the Powerpuff Girls are even though I didn't get one yet because they used to be $25 but now $15.........so I might. :D

No...the Dexter short will most likely be on there...I mean, 8 minutes of footage not seen in theaters. Stuff WB cut out from the movie.

Who said that had to say uncut? It could just say "Extended Widescreen Edition" or something

To get things a bit straight ...
WB is proceeding with a release (theater version, but in pan-and-scan) for this Holiday season. That's pretty much set in stone already ...
The CN release is one that they desire, and hopefully will see the light. It's a Limited Edition, which means that it may not be at just any 'ol Walmart or something, in widescreen, and most hopefully will be mastered with the soundtrack on its own track too. It may or may not have chock full of "extra's", but its target is strictly for the fans. And for some reason, I have it down in my head that 11 minutes was cut out, not just 8.
Again, it's CN's desire, not so much WB's. CN has stood their ground quite a bit for the production of the movie already, making sure that WB pretty much kept out of the creative process. Another kudos to them for taking it another step further.
-- Kane ... for one thing, the WB wanted it to be rated G. The Powerpuffs without violence?! I don't think so!
