Yay! Now Mobile Suit Gundam can return to its course of finally finishing its first full run. :)
By the way, Matt--why are these "Post Your Review" threads leaving the boards so soon? They used to last all week, and now they're getting canned after only a few days. What's the deal?

Some people missed the other run(s). Especially for MSG, considering in only had a single unfinished run.

Well, Mushroom Samba was the last Bebop episode I hadn't seen yet. I had high hopes, and I was not dissapointed.
Take a dash of Ed, add a wild west setting, plenty of blaxpoitation action, hallucenogenic mushrooms, talking frogs, Ein actually doing something, and best of all, Jet talking to his Bonsai plants about the secrets of the universe in a manner very accurate to the real deal. Truly a hilarious ep. Watch this and then watch "The Real Folk Blues"- it's a amazing that one series can have this kind of variety.
Maybe a spin-off Ed show isn't such a bad idea after all.

its good to have a variety of episodes, like the major diff. between Cowboy Funk and The Real Folk Blues, some people like comedy in their action cartoons and some people like serious events. I prefer both, thats what makes CB such an awesome series

YYH - They just showed it, but its still a nice episode. Would've prefered them to restart the series a week early. B+.
CB - One of the funniest episodes yet. Only Cowboy Funk beats it in comedy, one of my favorites. A+.
0083 - Sick of it, watched Big O DVD instead. I really hope they show the original series on asa. I watched ep 7, that gets an A. I have no idea what 0083 aired, so I can't grade that.
MSG - It was an okay episode, things start to pick up when they finally get back to Earth. Another B+.
OLS - Decent episode, not one of my faves. B-.
PC - I actually watched it. I don't know why, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. It gets an F+ instead of the usual F. :p

Definitely agree here that Mushroom Samba is a good episode of Cowboy Bebop. Face it, when it comes to the comedy episodes of Cowboy Bebop, this one is definitely the most popular one, with it's combination of Ed, hallucigenic mushrooms, and a spoof of blaxploitation films.
Meanwhile, I am one thing to say about tonight's Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Anyone had an urge to kill that *beeped* bird is the companion of the main Saint Beast?

Will there be any new episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho?? If so, when will they air?
Cowboy Bebop: What can I say? Ed does something to make me laugh. She actually had a purpose here. If Ed's previous appearances in episodes are considered "filler", then I will lose my impatience with Edward and accept her. Good stuff overall. If Ed were like this more often, then I wouldn't have complained about her in the past. Overall grade: A
And because of tonight's episode, my overall grade of the series goes from B- to B+. If it improves, I'll bring my grade up to an A and even get the DVD's.
Mobile Suit Gundam: I haven't watched it because I missed the first few episodes (I thought I would have a steady job but that's another story). When will the series restart?

After YYH reruns, they'll air new ones. I expect YYH to double-up when Inu-Yasha comes in. Also, Gundam isn't going to restart. It's 42 episodes long, and would take too long to rerun. Buy the first DVD, it has all the episodes that have aired on ASA so far.

Yu Yu Hakusho
No review this week, considering the ep just aired a few weeks ago! Whats the deal with that? @_@ They should just start from the beginning again, hopefully they will starting next week.
Cowboy Bebop
Episode 17: Mushroom Samba
This episode doesn't have much of a plot to it, but the episode is so unbelievably funny that it ranks up there among the elite of the series despite having a rather uninteresting bounty. Ed truly gets her moment to shine in this episode, so if you like her like me, you'll love the ep. I suppose if you dislike her like some on the board you won't like it, but there's still some great stuff in there anyway. Cowboy Funk is overall a funnier episode, but this one certainly has the funniest scene in the series when Faye, Spike and Jet all get high on mushrooms. Other funny stuff like 'shaft brother', that cow randomly being on the railroad tracks then talking to Ein, etc... make it quite a good one.
Grade: A
Gundam 0083
Repeat, no review this time.
Mobile Suit Gundam
Episode 5: Re-Entry to Earth
The story moves along further with this episode as White Base heads to Earth and battles Char along the way. If you like the battles, this episode is great since practically the entire episode is dedicated to it. The animation is off again in this episode and we meet the annoying Lt. Reed who'll be around for the next month or so, but the action scenes, the fact that White Base reaches Earth, and the introduction of Garma Zabi make up for it. Unfortunately the next couple of weeks are arguably the worst episodes in the entire show... :(
Grade: B
Outlaw Star
Episode 17: Between Life and Machine
The elite of Outlaw Star are the plot episodes, which this is one of. The show simply doesn't cut it with all that ridiculous filler, but luckily thats pretty much out of the way for the rest of the show. There are still a few mostly filler episodes, including next week's show until the end when we realize whose in the tournament, but the horrific fillers are all gone now leaving some pretty good eps up until the finale. This episode has Gene's first meeting with Ron MacDougal (jeez, only 10 episodes left and they only meet now :P) and solves atleast some of our mysteries in the show, like why exactly the MacDougals attacked the XGP early in the show. It also establishes the MacDougals as the villains again after a lengthy absense. Pretty good fight, the start of the Harry-Melfina thing, etc... all around one of the better episodes of the series.
Grade: B+
Pilot Candidate
Another repeat. Hopefully this show won't be around much longer...
3 good episodes, an alright one, and a couple of duds. An alright night for ASA, although somewhat of a let down after 2 great Bebop marathons. Luckily Mobile Suit Gundam is _finally_ back so we can get back on track with the show. The really good stuff should be around by next month :)
Mobile Suit Gundam: I haven't watched it because I missed the first few episodes (I thought I would have a steady job but that's another story). When will the series restart?
The first 8 episodes of Gundam go very slow. You haven't missed much, start watching next week(although it will be a bad indication of how the show is, next week's arguably the worst in the series). A simple summary or buying the first DVD should get you up to speed. You don't want to miss your chance now, since they probably won't air this show again after this and the show just isn't the same if you don't see characters like Amuro develop over the course of the show. Gundam is not one of those shows where you can suddenly pop in dozens of episodes in, like I was able to do with Gundam Wing the first time I saw it

It's Mcdougal!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway this was the one where Gene calls Ron a bastard so was it left in or not.

My comments about tonight's episode of Outlaw Star are pretty much the same. I'm not really sure what the main story is but I like watching it anyway. I think the strongest reason this week is because of the marathons so I kind of lost track of what was going on. Next episode looks fun. Go Aiesha. Overall grade: B
Here's a couple of more questions: How come Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop had mini-marathons but not the other shows?? What was the purpose of the marathons in the first place?

Yu Yu - B+ - Bird is dead, and their was much rejoicing. Also, any time when Yusuke cuts loose, it's awesome.
Bebop - A+ - Comic Gold, especially the coffin, but especially the rest of the episode.
0083 - not watching it...
MSG - B - Amuro must have nerves of steel to pull out the manual while decending into the Earth's atmosphere. granted, I suppose it was read (the manual) or die by that point.
OS & PC - not watching them, and I even have OS on DVD.

Here's a couple of more questions: How come Yu Yu Hakusho and Cowboy Bebop had mini-marathons but not the other shows?? What was the purpose of the marathons in the first place? YYH and CB had marathons because they were the two most popular series on the block. If OLS was ASA edited, it would've gotten one, too. It's just really a Toonami show, and they didn't want to give a marathon to a Toonami show. PC and 0083 aren't exactly popular, and the TV-Y7 doesn't help that. Gundam I can't completely understand why not. It was basically a perfectly good opportunity to show the last 6 episodes and get the fans off their back. If they ditched the Rando marathon and the Bebop nonsense marathon, and replaced it with a Gundam finale marathon and an OLS marathon or an Adult Swim Movie, although I'm not sure what they'd play.
BTW, with OLS, I had the DVD, so I just played the disc in place of the episode and didn't deal with the edits. Turns out that the show on Toonami was about 30 seconds longer than the version on DVD, because of commercials. The edited out footage basically cancels out the commercials for time perfectly. When I turned off my DVD player, the OLS credits were rolling.

This is rare, I have seen all the ASA stuff and Rising Sun stuff before. My reviews haven't changed, but I'm tired, so I'll save my writing frenzy for new ASC eps tomorrow night.
I did enjoy Cowboy Bebop, though I always do.
Later.

Yu-Yu Hakusho- Good Episode, eventhough we just saw it, I liked it last time and I still liked it, I don't know what to say- 9.1
Cowboy Bebop- I like this episode eventhough I don't like Ed much, I still Find it real funny, espeacially when it shoys the efeects of the Mushrooms, and then the cow thing is great- 9.5
Gundam 0083- Ok Episode Interesting and pretty cool, not much to say that I already Haven't- 9.0
Mobile Suit Gundam- Good episode I like this show so far, I was surprised by the use of the Gundam Hammer, Aren't there more advanced weapons for the Gundam, overall good- 9.3
Outlaw Star- Interesting episode, Kind of odd, but I liked it, not really much to say- 9.0
Pilot Candidate- Ok For some reason I decided to stay up and watch this show, to give it a second chance, Well that didn't work, I just realized more of how bad this show is, the dubbing was off, the outfits were terrible, the dialouge was awful, I really wasn't impressed with it, it made me remember why I quit watching this show, This show sucks, and forever will suck- 5.6
Overall- 8.583

Only stayed up for YYH and CB this time around(Since they're my favorite ASA shows), and I was impressed. This was the first time I've been able to watch AS in a while, and also my first viewing of these episodes.
YYH: Wow, one episode of the bird and it was already annoying. What was up with it anyway?
That was kind of cheap to make such a big deal out of Yusuke's death, then just have Kuwabara bring him back. I thought there was going to be something like Goku's death happening.
God, the villain looked generic.(I'm looking for generic-looking anime villains after that great Dexter's Lab episode that had one. "I...HOO-KA-TCHUUU!!")
CB: Okay, I thought it was funny when the coffin got smashed. I thought it was funny because Ed was in it. I thought it was funny when Faye shrunk and swum with the fishes. I thought it was funny when Jet discussed the meaning of the universe with bonsai trees and put on lipstick.
But, my friends, when you have a frog saying, "This here is the stairway to heaven," you may have to go to the hospital upon first viewing. I almost did laughing for minutes from the pure insanity of that scene.
One of the greats.

Something I never noticed before in Mushroom Samba (CB) was the police officer's phone conversation with his wife (when Coffee took the opportunity to escape). That was really funny!

I know I'm late in this so I'll give a short review:
YYH- Didn't watch. I don't want to get sick of it after seeing this episode in a month.
CB- I'm loving this episode by the minute. Faye having to go to the bathroom after eating the over-expired food. Just goes to show you that what goes around, comes around. A+
0083- Okay, this episode was alright. It's basically Kou trying to regain confidence. B+
MSG- I'd never thought that Amuro would still be using the manual for piloting the Gundam. I thought he knew how to master it already. And I never thought that the Gundam had a internal cooling mechanism device that can cool off even the Earth atmosphere. I thought he'd make it back to White Base in time. A
OS- Didn't see. Fell asleep.
PC- Didn't see. I'm having a good dream.
