Since love is such a big part of Yu Yu Hakusho, I wanted to know everyone's ideas on why Keiko cares about Yusuke so much.

She cares about him because they have been friends since they were in kindergarden.

Keiko cares because she loves boys who smoke, drop out of school, lives in a dump, have troubled family, has a rep of being a badass, and always perverted (i.e., loves looking her panties, loves touching her breasts). Well, at least that's my view on who Yusuke is.

It's explained more in the manga than in the anime. Shonen Jump is releasing it soon.

Call me naive, but I thought Keiko had some kind of "Jesus complex." She always seems to want to save Yusuke. Either that or she just likes bad boys with the potential to be good.

The comic foil thing did sound pretty accurate.

She knows--or at least has an inkling--who the REAL Yusuke is. If you notice his life, most people just flat-out don't understand him, don't like him, and don't want to be near him.

Now, Kuwabara, OTOH...we don't know what his problem was. I would have given up after about three fights. :D

As for Keiko: she goes to Yusuke's regularly, sometimes acting like his mother figure. [considering Yusuke's real mom is well...out there 62% of the time.]

In short, [at the start of the series, when our Hero dies.... :rolleyes:] these are the people that care about Yusuke:

Atsuko(mom)
Takenaka(principal)
Keiko(friend)
Kuwabara(rival)
Kuwie's Gang(due to association with Kuwabara)

As you may note, that's a short list.
