I was just wondering about everyone's experiences with purchasing things online. The only reason I'm asking this is because I'm thinking of buying a monitor online.

I've only bought concert tickets and DVD's online, so I can't help you with hardware shopping, but My Simon.com (www.mysimon.com) is a great comparison shopping service. :)

Absolutely ALL of my shopping online has been within the confines of eBay, and, 99% of the time, I've been very pleased. (Only on about two or three occasions have I recieved broken products, have been given misinformation about products, or nothing at all.)
I tend to stray away from electronic items, though. Most everything I've purchased were comic books, action figures, and various collectibles to further my Batman collection. You know, stuff that you can guarantee is all in one piece with just a picture online.
If you're going for a monitor, I'd make sure you're getting it from a reliable site. Aside from that, I have no other possible nay-saying; online shopping rocks. There's so much more selection online than anywhere else out there.

Actually ordering stuff online is ok. I've ordered my current machine, sound card and my last vid card and all of them were great and and affordable.
A few months ago I ordered a DVD set on Amazon and it came promptly and in good condition.
As far as a monitor goes... thats just one of those judgement calls you'll want to make as far as getting one shipped online. I bought mine(Referbished Dell 17") at a computer show for $120 about 3 years ago at a computer show and its in excellent condition.
I've ordered a few things online and never have had a bad experience with any of them. Hell, I bought this computer online.

I'm afraid my online shopping has been limited to DVDs, books, and videos, so I can't help you in the department of such a purchase.
I wouldn't worry too much, but just be sure you can return it should something go wrong in shipping, and pick a site, as stated before, that is reliable with a good reputation.
Happy online shopping!

I have been disappointed with shopping online, but have also gotten things that can't be found anywhere else. Obviously, I have no experience with buying computer parts.

So can I safely say that online shopping is a safe practice?
If you're going for a monitor, I'd make sure you're getting it from a reliable site.
Believe me, if I could avoid shopping for a monitor online, I would. However, the model I want is not in any store in my area that I've checked.

Try pricewatch.com, they should have the model you're looking for, and virtually all of their links are reliable and inexpensive. I just bought a new hard drive, and it works very well.
For the most part, online shopping is safe, but be careful anyway.

I buy pretty much everything online. Well, if I see a good bargin in a shop, I'll get it, but invariably it's cheaper and easier on the net.
I use Amazon, Play.com, jungle.com and Dixons mainly. I have ventured to a Japan outlet once, but I have found some pretty reasonable respected places so I'm not very adventurous!

I've actually been using Pricegrabber.com; is that site a rip off?

Not really. Pricewatch is exclusively computer hardware and software, you can find just about anything there.
