The other day while driving, I heard something very interesting. Adult Swim characters hawking products on the radio. Apparently they've found a new medium. It wasn't Space Ghost or the Aqua Teens, as usual, but McGuirk and Brendan. At first, I thought it was an impersonation, but sure enough, it was H. Jon Benjamin and Brendan Small. Basically, McGuirk and Brendan were having one of those conversation that they have by the soccerfield (you know, one of the real disjointed ones where McGuirk makes no sense), and the style was so similiar to the show that it could have actually been in an episode of HM (that was, if it wasn't about eating Combos). The commercials worked fine even if you had never seen the show, but it was particularly ear-grabbing if you were familiar with HM. Strange stuff, huh? Anybody else heard this commercial?

Not here in South Jersey. Interesting though.

What station and what type of station was it?

It was 93.7 KLBJ in Austin, and it's blues, classic rock, alternative rock, and local music.

I've never heard the Home Movies one, but down here in Chicago this radio station that plays mostly alternative music, Q101 (101.1) played Adult Swim commercials. It was for Sealab 2021 and The Brak Show when they were getting new episodes (Poppy was one of the episodes they talked about from what I remember). I thought they worked out pretty well.

That's excellent. A commercial like that would certainly catch my attention more than anythig else I've heard lately. In fact...I think I could go for some Combos right about now.
Hopefully, this will mean there's more money for any future Home Movies/Soup to Nuts projects.
I've never heard that commercial, but I did hear one HM show sound byte thing on the radio once. I usually avoid the radio at all costs (it's all pretty bad right now, in my opinion) but there was an alternative radio station I was listening to briefly when I heard:
Generic radio announcer:"(What ever station it was), your number one alternative station!"
Brenden: "This is terrible."
Melissa: "I think it's alternative."
Jason: "Yeah, it's an alternative to good."

Al Roker Jr. from Mancow's Morning Madhouse was pimping HB:AAL a few days ago.
...unfortunately, he was telling people to "watch the wednesday night rerun".

I think the buzz around Harvey Bridman has less to do with the actual quality of the show and more to do with the homogeny of the media. Entertainment Weekly wrote it up as something to watch. Great. It's a really good show and any AS press is welcome.
However, late one night while flipping through the channels, I saw a HB clip and it turned out it was on Entertainment Tonight. Then some smug guy comes on and says "Also check out 'Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law' Sunday on Cartoon Network." So why was HB:AAL picked by two seperate entertainmentorganizations to report on? Yes it's a great show, but ASC has a lot of great shows that have a lot more episodes and are generally met with even more of a fan respone. The answer? Because things like Entertainment Tonight haven't shown any evidence of an independent thought in its entire existence.
The Entertainment Tonight people have no idea what Adult Swim (or Cartoon Network, for that matter) is, and they've certainly never seen (or heard of) Harvey Birdman: AAL. They were simply reguritating something someone else (entertainment weekly) told them was good. So, they figure it's some "new trend" and get some guy in a suit to read it off a teleprompter.
I'm not sure if this is making any sense. Just had to get that off my chest...I feel better now.

That was a smart move by AOL-Time-Warner-Turner-Mad Magazine-Sports Illustrated-DC Comics-Entertainment Weekly-Pay-Per-View-Cartoon Network-Boomerang-CNN-Headline News-HBO-Cinemax-TCM-TBS-TNT-Hanna-Barbera-MGM, plug your own show in your own magazine and the rival media outlets will try to outdo your magazine by hyping your own show even more.
