OK, Tropico is a mix of Hidden Agenda,Sim Isle and No Future and follows them up well but some good games just don't have any follow ups to them.

Here are games I think should be moderenized

M.U.L.E (C64,MSX,Atari 400/800 and NES)

This it truly a great game. My only complaint is the graphics are a bit weak, don't get me wrong the aliens are fine it is the map I'm talking about it is just plain sometimes hard to tell a mountain from a flat plot of land. It is so much fun to make your freind pay through the nose for food or energy since your the only one selling and the store don't have any. OK I know there are follow ups (ie traders) but they all suck except for the shareware ones that are only a cheap facelift.

Mad TV (Amiga, Dos)

This is a German game made by a team that wanted to poke fun at all those games that make you a TV programer. What set this appart from the dozen of borning others is you main goal is not ratings but to impress a girl but she is a intellect type thus she is not impressed by the shows that give you the ratings but the oposite thus you have to have some balance bettwen boring shows and the bread and butter of the station. On top of that you got a boss that from time to time will bring to your attention awards which you have to win these awards does impress the girl but require you to do some planning to get them. The day to day game play is simple you have to run through the building while the clock is ticking get a show and a ad put both time slot get the news stories and plan out in house shows not too mention you also have to expand the station into a network that means buying transmitters and deciding where to put them (on a US map) and when to buy them (they cost money to up keep). Oh there is one more things you can air X rated shows but you will piss off the mothers aginst sex and violence and they will bomb your video libray but you can play with the directory in the lobby and get them to bomb your compeditor:D

Carrier Command (Dos)

It has been ages since I played is so I might get a few details wrongs anyway this game is so cool you are in command of a futuristic air craft carrier and you are have to distroy the enemy air craft carrier you do this by going from island to island and sending off your hover craft to make them either for defence, weapons or fule. You do this till you get close to the enemy there you have to carfully plan a statagy of what enemy islands to take over or when you should take the enemy carrier head on.

Seal Team (Dos)

I'm supprised there is no other game really like it. You are in control of 4 Navy Seals real time. OK so EA hacked a tank sim engine for the game still it really is uniqe. Charging the enemey is a bad idea and gets every killed in this game you have to sneek up and it is a good idea to throw your gernades then open fire no open fire then throw gernades since firing exposes your position to the enemy.

Yes! M.U.L.E.! My sister and I used to play that all the time, except we liked to gang up on the aliens. In fact, we kept the C64 within easy reach long after it should have been junked, just so we could play when I came to visit during vacations.

Colonization is a game that should be followed....you control an expedition to the new world and try to build up a powerful nation while keeping your mother country (nation that sponsers your expedition) off your back. This was a good game...

Anyway M.U.L.E rules. There is web page for it World of M.U.L.E (http://www.eidolons-inn.de/mule/)

Battletoads. Pimple, Zitz and Rash deserve to thwack their cartoonishly oversized appendages into new evildoers! Lousy Tradewest and their copyrights...

I'm curious, how come Tradewest can't make video games based On Battletoads and Double Dragon anymore?

Really, I loved beating up my friend on BT&DD.

Tradewest can still make Double Dragon games... they just choose not to, since the last few games in the series didn't sell well.

As for Battletoads, it was only published by Tradewest... it was MADE by Rare, the strange British people behind Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, the new Donkey Kongs, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, etc. I get the impression that Rare would love to make a new Battletoads game. However, when the Battletoads games were made Rare was a freelance developer... now they're half-owned by Nintendo, who would rather frown on them developing games for another publisher. Combine that with the fact that in the Battletoads publishing deal, Tradewest got complete and total rights to the characters, and you begin to see the problem.

And yes, Battletoads vs. Double Dragon was one fine game.

Well, we never did, precisely because we couldn't bear to lose M.U.L.E.! :D Our poor parents had to carry that machine around with them from house to house, and by now I'm none too sure it is still around. :( I'll have to ask them.

Thanks for the link!

Well if you don't you can find C64s and C128s (which is compatible with C64 software&hardware) on e-bay.

As for me I still have my C128 with joysticks and a copy M.U.L.E.
