YuYuHakusho: This show in general kicks ass and the 2nd ep was good at the very end

Overall show rating : A ! i dont feel like reviewing every ep.

TV-Y7 FV... I bet CN's rating dept. screwed up and acidentally played Gundam 0083's rating at 12 instead of Yu Yu Hakusho's. The same thing may have happened at 11:30 for Bebop's, but nobody noticed because it was TV-14.

I had no idea they were playing the new episodes for the marathon after the first Episode I changed the channel only to come back to find I missed an episode(The second one). Thank God for reruns.

Not only was it Y7, but it even had an e/i (educational/informative) in the lower-right corner!! But it was clearly a mistake, judging by the profanity and various slicing-in-half moments.

Oh, the review? Umm, very good! That's all I have to say.

Just got done watching all three new episodes. Basically, the fight between Yusuke and the last spirit beast was the main plot in all of them. At first, It seems nothing would work for Yusuke, and then he used his head. Meanwhile, the rest of the ol gang (Hiei, Kurama, and big K) were fighting these human-like slaves. Yusuke's secret weapons paid off bigtime. His secret weapons being Anger and Luck. After a very long and hard fought battle, Yusuke prevailed. Just as the final blow was being made, The gang entered the top of the tower to witness his honorable move. Yusuke lives, and we all enjoy a bit of comedy at the end.

I can't wait for the Ice Apparition storyline, but eh, I already know what happens.

All in all, a 95% for the last 3 new episodes for now.

Nothing bad tonight, except I'm unsure how Useke and Kuwabara were still alive after the transfer of energy was suppose to wipe them both out (or so the guy thought :shrugs: ).

So, are there YYH repeats from now on?? What happens next week?

KingKoopa
07-07-2002, 01:01 AM
It was all really good, in my opinion. For once, it didn't take luck for Yusuke to win. I must admit, it was getting so DBZ-like I was expecting his hair to spike up gold, but it wasn't necessarily bad.

BTW: Yusuke was supposed to die, but Kuwabara saved him. He was never supposed to sacrifice himself, like how Keiko never sacrificed herself when she saved Yusuke.

And, next week is another marathon, although 3 hours of reruns. I expect YYH to double-up in September, because I see a MAJOR schedule change coming then.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Battle against the final Saint Beast, three episodes played out in near movie length. Plenty of nonstop action with a good plot closing. Even the background music added suspense to the chase and fighting scenes. At times I thought it was like watching a Resident Evil game.

The voice acting and dub-over was very good all-around within these three episodes. It kept moving at a good rhythm with little noticeable pauses. There only appeared to be what felt like a few changed were made to the dialogue of the script,.. harsh language you could say.

This time I was able to notice the differences in the character design. In the Saint Beast saga you could tell that the character artwork seems to have been cleaned up a bit, compared to the earlier episodes which aired not too long ago. Too bad that the background animation work is still kind of loose and smooth.

In all it was an hour and a half well spent today.

Oh my god, Byakko just won't die! I wish they played any episode but that, we're all sick of him.

Other than that, nice epiosde choices. They should have just started the show over, though, IMO.

just finish watching the three new episodes, i must say the dub did a very good job on it, all three epsiodes are pretty good, except one thing...........WHY IN THE WORLD DID THEY SAID SUZAKU USED SPIRIT ENERGY???????did funi mess up the translation??????suzaku doesnt used any spirit energy, he used DEMON ENERGY, so does kurama and hiei. kuwabara and yuseke are the only ones who use spirit energy, ONLY HUMANS CAN USE SPIRIT ENERGY. i hope they fix the translation or else they are pretty screw to say yuseke uses spirit energy when

he uses both spirit energy and demon energy in the later episodes, and i hope they wont translate "ma kai"(demon world) as the spirit world.

Almost forgot, i hate that bird, i just wish the gang beat the **** out of her instead letting her perish like that.

I liked these episodes. It seems that YYH has more of the feel of "Dragon Ball", with the shorter battles and heavy character development, than that male soap opera know to millions as DBZ. One thing I noticed: At the end of the last new episode when Yusuke wakes up in Kuwabra's rooms, they show a shot of the posters on his wall. Who would have thought that a self-described "badass" would listen Oingo Boingo...

07-07-2002, 12:13 PM
hehe its cool that they did that , but it would be even better when viewers know, i had my vcr set to record yuyu and CB, i missed 4 episodes of yu yu  :D
aww well when does anyone expect them to rerun?

make it too long and i might not want to see them or maybe ill just forget
i think it would be more useful to just call it a marathon and just play it again sometime that week
That would be the best

Does anyone know how the current ASA/ASC "viewer" ratings compare to the average CN shows, and cartoon cartoon shows?

oh and the 1st and 2nd episodes were great, straight A's for yu yu

I love Yu Yu Hakusho! Uhm... yeah...
*Chuckles nervously* You know, for some odd reason I REALLY wanted Yusuke to just eat the dang bird. o.O

Wow is all I gotta say aobut YYH this week. YYH is definitly getting better then DBZ with more plot development, mor eintense and relaistic fighting...and no stupid delays in fighting for useless bantering.

YYH "Saint Beast" conclusion:

Rock! An epic finale' to the newest storyline. Yu Yu has a tendency to pull a Grant Morrison-putting characters in an impossible situation then getting them out with a surprise noone saw coming. These episodes are an intelligent version of DBZ. That I like.

Grade: A

SG & Brak Show Lipton Ice Tea commercials:

Man, these were funny. Especially SG's.

All of Yu Yu episodes tonight are an A. People who say that DBZ is better must get a brain scan, as it could be a malfunction.

The episodes had some nice development. The fights were quite good, and I laughed my head off when Ysuke threatened the bird of much irritation. God watching that bird die put a smile to my face. :)

Ok I think I got my signals crossed last week. and thought it was supposed to be 12-2. But it doesn't matter.

I liked the first 3 episodes. I missed part of the second episode (The part just before Kayko and Boton execute the fire extinguisher plan. If anyone could fill me in on this that would be great)

After I realized episode 4 was a rerun I went to sleep.

Though I really wanted to see Cowboy Bebop last night. I wasn't dissapointed with what took place in it's place. Though I can't believe they are doing it again next week though.

Final Grade: A

Watched the first 4 eps of the night, was too tired and had no desire to watch the final 2 (especially since the second one was on just a few weeks ago :p)

Anyway, nothing too special about the 3 new episodes. I despise the show when it overly focuses on the battles, and this certainly was a case of that. Its little more than a faster paced DBZ. Yes, it is better than DBZ though. I certainly don't need a brain scan :p

It was nice to see the earlier ep at 12:30. The show was fine for the first 10 episodes or so, why'd they have to make it so DBZ-like? Sigh. Hopefully there'll be a change when the new episodes arrive when FUNI's done dubbing/editing them. Since the last 2 story arcs have been extremely bad, the only good thing is that they don't last upwards of 60-70 episodes like in DBZ, only 10 or so.

Content Grade: C-

Liked the teasers and the fact that Billingslea's now narrating them though :D

Technical Grade: A

Hopefully they'll show some early eps in next week's marathon. Wouldn't mind seeing them again, although I certainly don't want to see eps from the Genkai or Saint Beast sagas anytime soon :(

Next weeks episodes of Yu-Yu are....

The Three eyes of Hiei
The Search Begins
Kuwabara's Spirit Sword
Hard Fights for Yusuke
Rando Rises,Kuwabara Falls
Yusuke vs. Rando: 99 Attacks

I really enjoyed this weeks eps. The only one I had seen was Byakko so I gave it a A+

Alright. If any of you could not tell... I am a newbie. *BIG gasp*
I know...I know...
I'm also a newbie to Yu Yu Hakusho (considering I've only seen all the episodes on Adult Swim so far and have never seen any of the other episodes) and I was wondering (Besides the Videos of the episodes) are there any Yu Yu movies?
*Waits to be smacked for stupid questions*
Have mercy... -.-!

There are some movies, but FUNimation won't be able to dub them, as another company has the rights. I believe one or two of them are released already, but I'm not too sure the dub's that great.

A little bit of info about the movies:

This first, which is just called "Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie", is basically a 30 episode. The plot involves Koenma getting kidnapped by a former classmate of his. It's all right, but only if you are a fan of the show. This one is available on DVD from a company call Anime Works with an episode of "Ninku".

The second, called "Poltergeist Report", is an actual, real movie. This one is about the Netherworld. This world, which is pretty much their answer to Hell, declared war on the Spirit World a couple of thousand years ago. This onslaught was single-handedly stopped by King Enma, who sent them into space. After the banishment into space, all of the evil human souls would get jettisoned into space. The Netherworld gained enough power from these souls to be able to completely flood Spirit World, and start to take over the Human World. It's a really well written film, and although there is a lot of fighting in it, non-fighting fans will enjoy the story. Alas, it's only on VHS from US Manga and is rather hard to find (Animenation.com had it on back order when I ordered it, thus it took a month to arrive), but it's well worth the wait.

while on the topic of Polterguist Report:

It's not taht bad of a movie. For story fans, there is some great plot dev in the entire movie. For those who like bloody senseless violent fights, there's plenty of that. :P

Alright! Three straight hours of Yu Yu Hakusho! :D

(Scale to 10.)

Suzaku, Leader of the Beasts
In this episode we finally meet the leader of the Saint Beasts. Good plot development.
9.3

Seven Ways To Die
So Suzaku splits into seven forms? Sweet. Good character build-up.
9.4

Yusuke's Sacrifice
At last! The big showdown with Suzaku! This certainly the climax of things!
9.6
Alas, this is the last of the first 21 episodes dubbed by Funimation. I guess it'll be a while before I see new ones. Say a few months? :(

Rerun Briefs
Yusuke's Back: 9.1
Gouki and Kurama: 8.9
Byakko, the White Tiger: 8.4

Hi. I got another stupid question for you guys. I'm REALLY in to manga. I found the manga for Cowboy Bebop, Love Hina, and Real Bout High School recently and I know there's a manga for Outlaw Star but I don't know if its been released and if it has been released then who released it?

Oh, and is there a Yu Yu manga?

Thanks for all the info on the movies you guys! ^_^!

Suzaku's multi-form reminds me of Tien's special move. Oh well, I love it when Yusuke threatens the bird (she's annoying), how they got into the castle, how Botan & Keiko tricks the "controlled" people, and most importantly, Yusuke's flashback of his training with the "old hag". I'm just glad all of these episodes are together and give ASA an A+.

EDIT: I almost forgot to say this. There is a Yu Yu manga. However, I don't think they have in English.

On a scale of 1-10

Suzaku: Leader of the Saint Beasts - 9.5
Seven Ways to Die - 9.6
Yusuke's Sacrifice - 10.0

The others I won't bother commenting on.

I cant get enuff of Yu Yu personally....

I think its a great addition to Sat Adult Swim, especially since its the first show in the line up,

It has been the smartest move of CN to put up some decent anime since it edits Toonami like heck.

Nice job CN...

To be honest, I'm kinda ticked off with this month's useless marathons. Sure, this week's Yu Yu Hakusho marathon aired so that YYH could be finished, but was it really necessary to air the episodes from 12:30-2AM out of order? And what about next week's mixed-up batch, and the mixed-up Cowboy Bebop marathons coming up in the next couple of weeks? What's the deal with those?

JetMaster5
07-09-2002, 01:24 AM
The folks at WS decided to pick the best fights in YYH and put it in the marathons. I think that's the reason why the episode numbers are out of order. As for Cowboy Bebop, the first marathon happens to be the overall storyline put in order episode by episode. The second CB marathon of episodes are hand picked by CN and put it there. It's their favorite episodes and that's why it's out of order.

But don't take this as a fact. It's just my theory.

There is a Yu Yu manga, but it hasn't been release in the states yet. Hopefully, it will soon, probably by Viz (they release the DVDs and tapes, right?) They released the DB and DBZ manga when the series got popular on CN so it's probable that someone'll release it soon.

I loved the last three new episodes that aired! I can't wait when the next season of episodes airs! Too bad it won't be for a long time. I hope we don't have to wait as long for them as we do for the rest of DB's Red Ribbon Saga episodes.
I was laughing when the TV-Y7 thing showed up on the third episode.
The battles with Yusuke and Suzaku was the best in the series so far. Glad it didn't end with a BIG cliffhanger. I want to see the new episodes, dammit!
I have Comcast like someone else on the board does, but the cable didn't go out in my area. Although the picture did get minorly fuzzy (cable company screwed up), but it was still watchable when recorded in SLP. At the same time, a friend taped it from his Adelphia provider and the picture was clear and normal with no fuzziness like on mine.
Yes, there is a Yu Yu Hakusho manga. It is only in Japanese and the art is bad. Very bad, atleast in the first few volumes. At times the characters look very distorted in comical situations (not unusual for comical stories, but does not work for YYH). The art looks like one of those throw-away newspaper comics. The story is pretty similar to the anime, but the art is just atrocious. I have heard this was one of Togashi's earlier mangas (so I can't blame him) and the art in his later HunterXHunter is much much better.
I heard somewhere that Viz could possibly publish it in English in their new American Shonen Jump.
Hurry up Funimation!
