Does Paula ever mention her being married/in a heavy relationship with someone other then Brenden's dad?Maybe Erik?

I wondered that myself. What's with that baby anyway?

I like to believe that the baby - or the incidents that led up to the baby - is why Brendon's dad divorced Paula in the first place.
it couldn't be Eric's, since the baby is darker than both Eric and Paula.
I wouldn't be surprised if they never revealed who the baby's dad is.

Besides the fact that she suddenly disappeared.

Maybe this thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21974) will shed more light?

I'm not 100% sure if skin color means anything in Home Movies. I mean, this is a show in which some characters have noses and others just don't. So like the noses, it could just be an aesthetic thing.

But I'm inclined to think that that skin color is more than that. Both Melissa and her dad are dark-skinned, while Brendon and his parents are light-skinned. So it's likely that, in the HM universe, Josie's dad would have to be dark-skinned.

I wouldn't be surprised if they never revealed who the baby's dad is.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if we never even heard of Josie again.

did Josie appear in season 2 at all?

Heh, thanks for digging up that link Supreme!

That thread has a link to ANOTHER thread about Josie as well =P

Suffice it to say, she's gone from the show, as she was likely a plot point they didn't feel like explaining, so they just dropped her. Maybe we'll see a funny season 3 episode where some social worker tells Paula they found her baby, and arrest her for negligence, that would be funny =)

time to dredge the lake.

maybe she went to stay with daddy for awhile.

I guess I don't really care. after all, she was merely a prop.

weird to just delete a baby from an episodic story like that.

i was thinking about that the other day. it's just plain weird that shes so much darker than her mom and "dad".

Josie briefly appears in Episode 17 - Buisness and Pleasure, a Season 2 ep.

Paula went crazy and put Josie in a blender before the first episode, along with chocolate syrup. Josie survived this encounter. After time in the asylum, Paula got out, but ended up with a divorce. Then, after the first season, she killed Josie in a blender, but tried to cover it up in episode 17, with a cardboard cutout.

Josie's father hasn't appeared on the show yet, so we don't know how dark he is.

Ehh so you're saying you think Paula conceived Josie after she was divorced from Brendon's dad? I suppose it's a possibility...

Well come on now. Josie isn't THAT much darker than Paula and Brendon. Maybe she inherited it from another family member... Like one of Brendon's grandparents. But if you think about it, Mellisa and her dad are darker that her grandpa. It's just one big co-wink-ie-dink..... Isn't it? :)

Oh, and one more thing, If you look at Brendon's mom (espically in the 2nd season) she's darker than him too. Um, one more question,is Melissa black? I always thought she was just tan cuz her grandpa isn't dark.

or B) Eric's mother is darker.

is Melissa black?I'm guessing Hispanic or Middle-Eastern. but I'm also guessing we'll never discover the answer to that and, of course, it's not important.

now maybe we can move on to the next important question:
why is a one year old baby wearing glasses? I think that's the real reason they did away with Josie. they just can't explain the glasses thing.

Mabye she was adopted?

Adoption is the only thing that makes sense. Think: Paula tells Andrew that it's been two years since she slept with a man. Josie is obviously under two years- hell, she looks to be under one year. That being said, I doubt we'll ever see her again; it seems she's been cut out of the picture, although I would love to see her back in Season 3. I might be the only one, but I liked Josie, and I certainly don't like that they cut her out- it just looks bad on part of HM.

pregnancy, childbirth, and caring for an infant would certainly explain why she hasn't had sex in two years.
Think: gestation = 9 months. that would put Josie's age at approximately 15 months, which sounds about right.

It does look bad. I really like Josie. She kinda made Paula look like a mom and not just Brendon's friend. You know what I mean. But, what Treehouse said makes since.

Newborn babies often have a more ruddy complexion than their parents due to having very thin skin at that age (dispalying capillaries). That could account for Josie's darker color, though that usually clears up at about 6-8 months. So, the question becomes do the characters on this show age, or are their ages permanently fixed (like so many cartoons with kids), and will Josie remain a 6-month old for the rest of her life? Is Brendan doomed to repeat whatever grade he is in forever?

Although I doubt they would do it, I would like to see Brendan age as the series goes on. That would be really interesting.
