Hi, there, you guys. I sent the Adult Swim guys an E-mail a couple of weeks ago which read this:
Will there ever be a time when Adult Swim Action be completely for adults (i.e. no TV-Y7 ratings or shows safe enough for kids to experience a block that's supposed to be inappropriate for them to watch)? If so, when will this happen? We know you're doing a great job at it with Adult Swim Comedy, but Action appears to be a problem.
Well, I got a response back from them today (finally!), and here was their response:
Thank you for your interest in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. There are no plans at this time to show programs rated above TV-14. Although Adult Swim is intended for adults, because the network as a whole is targeted to kids, we still need to follow certain television guidelines.
Sincerely,
Adult Swim/Cartoon Network
Yes, you know what this means. Sure, I may have asked about "Adult Swim Action," but these guys specifically said "ADULT SWIM". They didn't say "Comedy" or "Action." Just "Adult Swim."
And that means that the upcoming AS special Rejected will NOT be TV-MA. It will be TV-14 at most.

Oooooooooooookay... Not to doubt you too much Mad Scientist, but can anyone else confirm this?

Rejected is a special, not a regular show. I can see how it would be easily overlooked. Unless they told you flat out that Rejected would not be TV-MA, I wouldn't put too much weight into it.

I've seen Rejected it's not that bad, TVMA is too sever, there is no sex, no bad language, just blood.

That email's just there to protect their butts. We'll know the truth when Rejected actually airs.
We've I believe it's been said before, the BS&P has said no TV-MA shows. Hence VERY little anime will ever play unedited on AS, and what is edited has to be edited to the TV-14 standard, which can be pretty extreme for a lot of shows (such as Eva).
However, a special showing of a movie could MAYBE be TV-MA on ASC (it's a school nite, after all), but the rating will be up the whole time and there will be breaks every 3 minutes to put up a warning =P

Sorry to say this, but Cowboy Bebop is NOT uncut.

Correct, but the BS&P called the uncut version TV-MA, and forced edits to get it to TV-14. Case in point. And Cowboy Bebop is one of the CLEANEST popular anime shows there is. I said when I first watched the fansubs that it would be on CN, I just predicted Toonami (this was like almost 4 years ago)

Um, er, yes, I guess, but if that was the intention, it'll happen eventually. Not to Bebop, but to others. It's a matter of time.

If Rejected ends up TV-14, maybe that means future TV-14 shows will be allowed to feature the content Rejected features.

[indent]Adult Swim, is not a block for stuff that is inappropriate for kids. While often times the shows are, the block is for shows aimed at adults and that adults would generally find more entertaining than kids.

Yea like bashing the cartoon characters we grew up with that today's kids love. :D
Right, it's not like AS is a "South Park" block that's all about being offensive, it's about 3+ hours of Action/Comedy that is adult-oriented, but not adult in nature. At least, Action is supposed to be that way, but has been a let down with all the Toonami edited stuff.
