View Full Version : Do you expect UNEXPECTED fireworks on the 4th of July?

Apparently, we've just got yet another indication of a major terrorist attack on the 4th of July. A guy accidentally intercepted an Arabic conversation over his cell phone(Very, VERY lucky break if you ask me.), and claims that he heard them saying something along the lines of attacking "the place of gambling on the day of freedom". So all leads point to Vegas.

Yeesh, I feel sorry for the people in Vegas. And this doesn't help my phobia of an attack on the 4th; if it is Vegas, the terrorists will realize we know and attack someplace else-probably DC, which I live...15 miles away from.

Stupid, isn't it? Does either side even remember what we're fighting for any more? I'm starting to get the feeling that our rivalry is like the Middle East feuds; it's completely pointless and thousands, if not millions, of innocents will die because of some bullies and/or morons who happen to have weapons. Sometimes things like this make it very hard to understand life.

i work in dc and live not too far away from it and i'm not all that paranoid about it. it's a possibility, but why would they attack vegas? what would that prove except "we just killed a whole bunch of people in sin city"? the terrorists specifically chose the WTC and Pentagon (and one other location in DC) to make a statement.

a lot of crap out there in the news is just crap. i don't know why they bother putting on stuff like "DID YOU KNOW THAT THIS WATER TOWER IS NOT GUARDED? HERE'S AN IDEA FOR OSAMA! INFECT THE WATER SYSTEMS!" oh well, something to lure in viewer ratings i guess.

I like to hope that. Personally, I think a lot of the paranoia will go away if nothing happens on the 4th, because my mind has kept thinking that it and Christmas are the most likely dates.

There are terrorist attacks all over the world each day. Question is, will there be something in the US?

I'm gonna say NO, simply because EVERYONE is going to be overly cautious. Just like at Halloween... just like at Christmas... Just like on New Years. What better way to install fear in people, than to INSTALL FEAR in people? We've been hearing plans of a secondary attack since 9/11. But all we've recieved are plans of a secondary attack. Logic would dicate to attack on a day when no one suspects it... not when everyone is going to be on alert anyway. Which is why anything to the contary would simply build fear. And if we fear them, then we are still losing.

So celebrate, I say... CELEBRATE! :)

I knew people would fear July 4th attacks. I knew the news would hype it up.

Well, since they went and put it all over the news, I don't think so now. Too bad, if the government were the only people who knew about the phone thing, we might of been able to catch some terrorist on that day.

I really don't know. Ever since 9/11, we've been more fearful and vigilant but will that really protect us? Maybe, maybe not. I'll give you an example...

Last year in my high school during senior prank day (i.e. their last day of school), there were a lot of pranks. Without going into much detail, the pranks were disgusting to say the least. This year, there was one. ONE! The disgusting pranks were a surprise to us all and the teachers and administrators were more vigilant this year. Either it worked or our senior class was lazy and uncreative; I don't really know. I was coming to school expecting numerous pranks. Everyone knew something could happen but didn't. In that instance, vigilance worked but this terror attack is on a much larger scale. You really can't know what's in a box until you open it, right?

I think that if many people are expecting it, it will not happen.

Well , maybe it was going to happen, but we know about it now, so it wouldn't be as shocking unlike 9/11 which was a total shock and they won't scare us as much this time either, besides security will probably be heightened now so don't wory about it, besides MSG just got back on the air and I don't want it off again!

I'm not worried. They've told us to avoid malls, etc. and now we're supposed to fear the 4th of July. What really bugs me is when the media says things like "Will they poisen our water system? Here's how they could do it..." Good idea, let's give them suggestions

Whatever happened to that color system they were supposed to use?

Wait a second here. You mean to say that your senior class didn't even sink the principal's car in the swimming pool, or take it apart and rebuild it on the roof? Pardon me while I slowly walk toward the horizon in disbelief...

The same thing that got rid of Al Gore. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE made fun of it.

Well, I don't know. Maybe they'd attack "sin city" because, oh, I don't know, they were, uh, sinning, and it's, uh, against religion to, like, sin or something? Uh...

No. We can't do that. If we do, we'll get too "into" the celebration and lose our consciousness of what'll happen if we're not prepared for another attack.

No, I don't. But I do expect the unexpected on days like today, tomorrow, March 17th, July 23rd, ect. If, when, it happens again, it will probably happen on your normal, average day.

Right now I think Al Queda is slowly dying. The government knows a lot of the way they communicate and have been tracking their activities - using information from other countries, Al Queda prisioners and the web.

Right now the Al Queda operation knows that they are in a world of hurt but also that they can control the way people in America react. by continually threatening an attack we're more likely to become de-sensitized to the message. Also they continually claim that bin Laden is still alive. Personally I think the guy is dead and has been dead for a long time. My guess is the video that they are supposedly releasing on July 4th will be yet another digitally pieced together piece of garbage - much like the last one where you could tell he was sitting in front of a Hollywood-esque screen (the water from the water falls didn't move) and the environment he was in was completely different from the environment of the time it was released.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that another potential attack has been foiled or a terrorist cell has been infiltrated but I don't think another attack will occur on July 4th.

but the thing is, no one cares. i bet they don't even care about vegas becuase it doesn't make a big impact on the world. i dunno, if i heard las vegas was bombed, i'd think, "Oh well, sucks to be them." i hear WTC and PENTAGON was attacked and i think, "Dang! two of the most politically important places in the US has been bombed! aah!"

i had a good thought to post, but now i forgot. oh well. maybe it'll come back tome.
