I take my drivers test tomorrow, and I was wondering if any of you have any advice, from your past expierence, and if there is things I should or should not say.

Just remember to fasten your seatbelt, check mirrors and use your blinkers.Don't talk to the man or lady who is in you but just follow his/her instructions - if you don't understand what she/he means ask to get it repeated :) or rephrase it.
Take your time and don't freak out if you know you did something wrong -if you did do something wrong there's nothing you can do about it but go on.

I hope you pass! Good Luck

my advice: don't fail the test because if you do, you have to take it again.

I can't really be helpful for advice on a drivers test, my state doesn't make you take them. Here, the written exam plus the Behind the Wheel class equals a license.

dont drive on the wrong side of the road
use your blinkers
look around--alot!
fully stop at stop signs
dont take chances with yellow/red lights
dont go over the speed limit

yeah... thats about it.

Blinkers, blinkers, blinkers! And not just for turning - parallel parking, pulling over, yield signs, etc. I lost probably six points on my test because I kept forgetting.

Don't drive over curbs or run down pedestrians, but you probably knew that already :p

Good luck!!!

*Learn the procedure so you don't get confused from the start - First, they'll ask you to sit in and buckle up. They'll test out the lights, the windshield wipers, the brakes - and then they'll hop in with you and give you instructions.

*If you still have time today - Practice, Practice the Parallel Parking ! Set up boxes or something on the side of your driveway and practice there if you can - getting it right this way helped me out a bunch.

*Exaggerate your movements so that the instructor KNOWS you know what you're doing.

*On left turns, make sure you don't drive over the 'other' side of the road you're turning into. Stay on the right lane of both roads.

Hope these help!

If you're on a closed course, don't go faster than 15mph.

Only problem with that is the speedometer isn't good at registering speeds that slow. (Thanks, Dad, for telling me that after I took it!)

Good luck!

BE POLITE to the examiner! Talk to them if you have to. But BE POLITE. "Yes, sir", "No ma'am"...ect.

If you have long hair, wear it in a ponytail, seriously. That way when you turn your head from side to side when checking mirrors and such, the instructor will really see it and not miss it by mistake. Look around a lot, and perhaps, don't wear sunglasses, unless it's really sunny. I passed mine the first time, but got a few points off because I wasn't looking around enough. Which was completely false. I was looking around so much I'm surprised my eyes didn't go cross-eyed. But the instructor didn't see me looking around as much as I really was because I had sunglasses on. And as has been said, just relax! If you pass, then you were ready, if not, then a good thing because obviously you weren't ready in some way or another.

Keep the radio turned off.
Avoid any use of extreme profanities while driving.
And just keep you cool and protend that this is not a test.

Definitely. I was very nervous during my first test, and my instructor picked up on it, decided it was poor driving skills, and decided to make my test harder. I know this because he told me after he flunked me.

But I think that he was a special case, since he was a complete...ahem, jerk. ;) The second time I went for the test, my instructor was much nicer.

The first time I took the test, it started out nicely. I backed up and parked through some cones, executed a three-point turn, all good. Then I came to an intersection where I was supposed to make a left turn. I waited for the car on the opposite side to make HIS left turn, and when it looked like he wasn't going to move, I started to make the turn. As it turns out, we both decided to go at the same time, so I made a sudden stop, not wanting to drive my car through his. He went ahead and I then completed my turn. My instructor then had me make a U-turn and go back to where we started. He ended the test and told me he felt that was a dangerous maneuver back at the intersection, so I failed. I'd like to know what the hell he expected me to do instead of stopping.

The second time I took the test, I actually got to complete the entire thing. My instructor then informed me that I had made some rolling stops. Rolling stops are when you pass a stop sign so slowly and smoothly that you don't technically stop, but you might as well have. So I failed that one.

I passed the third one. Number four would've been my last chance.

Take your time
Concentrate
Keep both hands on the wheel
Keep a watchful eye out
Come to complete stops at lights and signs
Signal before turning
Watch your speed
Don't do anything stupid
Don't screw up :D

Do you have to do the cone thing? You know, where you drive through a box of four cones and you have to turn around a cone at the end and then do the same thing backwards? I hated that.

Here, the written exam plus the Behind the Wheel class equals a license.

(voice fading) You lucky, little.....

Well I passed my test. Thank God. But I missed ten points, she said I missed those points because I was going into a turn only lane and I didn't put my blinker on in time to go into that turn lane, and I had to parrellel park twice instead of once. Plus she said I wasn't using my blinkers, but I was! I'm just glad I didn't have to do anything with cones.

Congratulations!! :D

Did anyone else take their test on a closed course? Or is that just a New Jersey thing?

Yay, you did it! :D Congratulations, especially if this is the first time you've taken the test!

I completely freaked out the first time - drove over a curb and everything. :o The second time was much better, probably because there was a lot less traffic. The driver's testing station was so far out in the country that the only traffic I did encounter - seriously - was a conbine.

Good thing I remembered to look and use my signal before passing him. :p

the funny thing about driving is that a lot of stuff you learn you will probably never do when you drive. for example, using your blinker too late or not using them at all in same cases. soon, you'll be driving with one hand on the steering wheel instead of two. ultmately, you will be breaking a lot of driving laws.
