I'm under the impression that this will be an ALL-NEW production. Judging by the quality of the preview stills that have been posted, it stands a good chance of not sucking! :D

The first version of He Man and the Masters of the Universe was produced by Filmation. As such, it had competent draughtsmanship, on rare ocassions excellent writing, but deliberately technically deficient animation. While it would be nice to see the old show for nostalgia purposes, I won't miss it too much.

Nope, no news or plans about the original series returning in any form... at the moment. Who knows, with the new series, it might spark the return of the old on VHS and DVD (I hope, I hope, I hope...). :)

I really believe that we WON'T see the original series on TV ever again, however I do believe that one day all 130 episodes of the original series will be put on DVD. And for that to happen, the new series needs to be succesful. Not just the new show, but the toy line itself too.

Objectively speaking here (never a fan of that kinda show) it won't as far asI see, and that is because of the toy tie in.That plus the un-PC violence (vis a vis the then-concurrent "My Little Pony", the "Tiny TOons"-YECH!!-of the Reagan era), would make He-Man very unacceptable.

Besides, it's largely forgotten,by most.

Well, what about Transformers? That show was a TOTAL toy tie in and the first season just came out on DVD in April with plans for the second season to hit DVD also. Transformers: The Movie has been out on DVD for a good year. If He-Man doesn't ever come out on DVD I highly doubt it will be for the reason you stated.

I don't understand what you mean by the un-PC violence that would make He-Man unacceptable.

As for He-Man being largely forgotten, I don't think so. Ask any 19 to 20 some odd year old and they'll tell you AT LEAST that they remember it. Hell, when Hayden Christianson (spelling) was doing interview after interview for Episode 2, he always would say that Star Wars was never his thing as a kid, but He-Man was. Ask any parent of a kid from that era and they will definatley tell you they remember He-Man cause they're the ones that bought the toys for their kids and let them watch the show. Plus, I'm sure the folks on the message boards at he-man.org would beg to differ on the forgotten issue. Just because people may not talk about it anymore doesn't mean that it's been forgotten.

If Mattel/Hallmark or whoever owns the rights to He-Man and She-Ra decide to put them out on DVD, it will be for the fans and the fans alone that have kept the memory and the fun of He-Man alive for all these years.

It's possible that the original series could show up on Boomerang.
