This is something I saw on vacation in Ohio. No I didn't take a vacation to that "wonderful" state. We went to an amusement park to ride the world's only looping roller coaster. Anyways I saw many chili resturants. Yes it appeared as if they only sold chili. To make things even worse I saw one franchise and then a different franchise down the block. So there is more than just one chain of chili resturants. To actually have two different resturants selling chili down the block from each other was funny. The Skyline chili place was everywhere in Ohio. I forget the name of the other. I never imagined the demand for chili to be that great. Then again it was Ohio and I never plan on going back to that place. I had a drink of water and I must say the water taste better in Jersey. Can you imagine New Jersey having better water than another state? Well it does.
What is with these chili resturants? When did chili get so popular? Hopefullly it doesn't spread to here.

just be glad you didn't come here to wisconsin. you guys call it a "Water fountain" but we call it a bubler. bubler just seems so much more formal.

Bubler? I've never heard of that before. What do you call Coke or other beverages of the sort?

soda
not pop or soda-pop, just plain old soda. and beer is called "Miller" since it's the only kind we drink (they sell it verry cheap because the main manufactureing plant is in wisconsin)

Pop or soda that's the age old question isn't it?
Does anyone eat at these chili places? How would they stay in business during the summer?

It's soda.
I've heard that eating something hot when you're hot can cool you off. Of course I've also heard that cucumbers and milk combine to form a deadly poison, so whatever.
P.S. What is it with you and chili? Is chili your archenemy? :D

I'm from the midwest(Chicago) and we indeed do not call carbonated berverages, "soda". It's pop darned you ! Pop. Soda sounds so...I dunno, it just doesn't sound right.
I never heard of this Miller thing. Must be local Dielect, I've got cousin's in winsconsin, I'll have to ask about that one.

Yes lola I plan on attacking chili. Would you like to join my army? I just don't get how all of a sudden chili got so big. It's on burgers. BURGER!?! It's everywhere like a plague. Should I call it the chili plague?

I ate at Skyline Chili during my recent road trip to Ohio. The idea of spaghetti topped with chili and tons of cheese sounded fantastic, but the chili itself wasn't that great. I suppose I would eat there again if someone else wanted me to.

...and what, may I ask, is the source of your hatred for Cincinnati Style chili?

If so, then I am a victim of the Chili plague. There's a Coney Island (the Michigan eqivalent to a "Chili Restaraunt", I guess) by where I live that serves really good chili. And fries.

Well it's summer and it's hot out. So what is the need for chili? Chili is something I see as a seasonal food. That season would be the winter.

You're sort of right--hot food will make you sweat, and sweating cools off the body. Eating hot food also clears the sinuses (there is another activity that can do that, but it can't be said in mixed company). Also, mouthwash--which contains a small amt. of alcohol--is also great for treating earaches. As for millk and cucumbers, that's a new one on me, but I've heard the similar (untrue) rumor that those who consume Vitamin C and shrimp together will die of arsenic poisoning.

Are you talking about snorting something?
I never eat anything hot in the summer. Unless of course I am somewhere cool.

I use to love chili and eat it all the time, but I almost never eat it now ;)
If you think that's bad, try going to Mackinaw Island in Michigan. Want fudge? Well, you could try that place, or across the street from that place, of course there's another one next to that place, one on the corner, another a block away, etc. It's fudge MADNESS! Want a Pioneer-like photo taken of you? There's several stores to choose from.
I haven't been there in years, though, but I'm sure it hasn't changed much.

Fudge? Unless we are talking about peanutbutter fudge (And it's been so long I don't even know if liked that.) fudge is just gross. What can one man do with so much fudge? Maybe you can eat fudge and chili together?
