Does anyone else here think the Love hina series would make an exceelent addtion to the Comedy line-up. I mean i ahve watched the series about twice now and i still find it hilarious. It doesn't require much adapting if any to be put on TV. Like I said i feel it would be a great show for ASC.

Considering 95% of the comedy on the show is Naru beating up Keitaro (which gets boring in the first ep btw) I'd have to say no.

what the hell is Love Hina? never heard of it
it sounds like anime, in which case I'd have to say "no."
CN's smartest move was seperating the comedy from the anime. leave the anime on saturday.

No, they separated the action from the comedy (it's just a coincidence that all their action shows happen to be anime). Not all anime is action-oriented. ;)
But anyway, I would say "no" for pretty much the same reasons as Sheamon. It's really not a very good show, and even less so dubbed.

Personally, I love "Love Hina"! I don't know that I would stick it on Adult Swim, but that's just because Adult Swim's airtime is so limited.
BTW, I doubt that newcomers to the Adult Swim block would pick up on the "Saturday = Action" and "Sunday = Comedy" thing. I think they'd be much more likely to see "Saturday = Anime" and "Sunday = American". (At least that's what my friends thought last weekend when they were introduced to AS!)

well, yes, obviously they seperated the action from the comedy, but in the process they also (obviously) seperated the anime from the comedy, and the japanese shows from the american shows.
anyway, my point is that ASA viewers would be far more comfortable with an anime comedy show on saturday, than ASC viewers would be with an anime comedy show on sunday.

No. I find Love Hina to be rather unoriginal, and not all that funny. I'm sure ASC could find something better than that to fill up a half hour.

Okay people sorry I even F***ing metioned it okay. So just lay off. I really don't go into the forums much except for the comics to vote. so I didn't know it has been mentioned before although i am not surprised. Okay happy people. BTY I will ask the mod. of this forum to delete this thread so that it doesn't get flooded with more people saying the same thing over and over again.

I love it.Yeah it's stupid and repetitive but it's so damn cute I can't get over it.The thing that keeps LH fresh, for me anyway,is the characters. There's so many different kinds, there's the crazy one,the drunk, the shy one, etc. I wish they'd animate all the manga, there's so much that wasn't animated.I think people come down way to hard on it.There's some stuff that you just gotta sit back and enjoy, like the Evil Dead.

I wish they'd just have the decency to keep the anime somewhat like the manga. I read the manga first and loved it. Then I watch the anime and find that they cut out just about all the plot and character development, and go totally overboard with the filler. Now I'll admit that the manga occasionally has some farfetched concepts, but that RPG one or the one when Naru becomes a singer were just so far out there and so mediocre that I can't stop vomiting.
And I sure hope we don't get in to this ridiculous anime AS vs. american AS thing... Its bad enough when we have lam0rs talking about how Toonami is an anime block. Labelling ASC as an american block or ASA as an anime block is the exact same practice you guys love pointing out the ignorance of so much.

I loved the RPG one.The idol one was bad just because Naru became an idol ith no explanation,if they would had her be scouted it owulda been better.
LH is a cult phenominon, that's for sure.

I agree that the manga is substantially better than the anime, but come on! The RPG parody was funny!

Yeah, I've seen LH Again. What irks me is that they took 5 entire volumes of the manga and condensed them into 3 measly episodes.
As for the ending... it's not over. It stopped a bit short of the actual ending. If they're smart, they'll take what's left in the manga and make it into a movie. And seeing as LH is big bucks in Japan right now, I would say that's not too unlikely.

Somewhat reminiscent of the argument of books vs. movies, eh?

I'd love to see Love Hina Again considering that was one of my favorite parts of the manga and IMHO Kanako's the hottest one of all :D I'll try to keep my expectations low this time. I had high expectations for the anime after reading the manga first and was sorely dissappointed. Unfortunately I don't see it becoming available to me for a long time... :(

Yep :( Unfortunately there are even worse examples than LH out there, Dragonball Z for instance  Although atleast there was a good excuse for the way they screwed with DBZ in the anime. No one forced the makers of the LH anime to skip most of the interesting stuff from the manga and use mostly filler that wasn't even in the manga.

I myself have watched all of Love Hina including Love Hina Again.
And although I loved the series, I would have to say no about bringing it to ASC. You know why, one reason, the dubb version sucks like hell, maybe that's why nobody what's it to air. I myself watched the sub version which I found to be much better.

That's true now that you mention it I have only watched the sub also. Bu ti have heard how bad the dub is. To bad they won't show sub. on ASC if they would it would be great.

I'm only familiar with the dub - and I don't think it's that bad. Why do many people dislike it? (Just curious! :) )

Annoying fake accents, significantly altered dialogue, and just generally rough on the ears.

I find the accents just kind of funny/silly, but "significantly altered dialogue" isn't cool. I'm gonna have to find a copy of the sub! :)

Well I'm probably exaggerating a bit when I say "significantly," but they do 'tone down' the dialogue quite a bit. You can see exactly what I mean here (http://www.animeprime.com/reports/lovehina.shtml).

Thanks for the info, ohmrbill - I would say some of those changes were pretty significant! ;)

Let me ask you a question? What have we learned from shows similar to Love Hina? That there dubs aren't worth a Sh*t and are horriable. Hence we can never show it on ASC.

Actually, in cases where I have been able to see both the sub and the dub, I have sometimes found that I prefer the dub (The Big O comes to mind as an example). I think this is mostly because I am not familiar enough with Japanese speech patterns to get any conversational clues from their voice inflections; it just sounds like rather angry gibberish. (This isn't a reflection on the Japanese language by the way - just my admitting I'm unfamiliar with it.)
It also didn't help that until two weeks ago I had a very old hand-me-down t.v. upon which subtitles just looked like brightly glowing crayon scribbles on the bottom of the screen! :D
I guess my point is that dubs are not all bad, and even if they are annoying it's still better than not being able to see the show.
'Nuff said. :)
