these episodes can be viewed repeatedly due to their unique and engaging writing and performances. great work
A
John K. stuff
well-crafted animation and well-timed physical humor, but John K's work doesn't stand up well to repeated viewings (probably because it's mostly just slapstick, double-takes, and camera mugs).
I don't understand why they can't re-edit in the censored fight scene between Yogi and the ranger. it's nothing too offensive for Adult Swim.
I'd like to see John K. take on the Flintstones. I imagine it'll happen one of these days.
A-
Brak Show
not a big fan. amusing, but forgettable
B-
Sealab
good stuff, but the repeats don't draw me in
B+
Mission Hill
nice backgrounds and colors; slightly charming; uninteresting sitcom characters and forgettable story; Baby Blues for college students.
that kid brother is one of the most annoying characters every created, even more annoying than Lisa Simpson.
C+
Space Ghost
not a big fan. some episodes are excellent, but most episodes they're just going through the motions (of silliness).

WRITER'S BLOCK: The rice stuff was pretty funny. McGuirk's ranting during the sleep sessions were pretty humorous too. The animation was kind of crappy though, EXCEPT for the specific scene in McGuirk's apartment where he fights sleep. That was good looking and smooth, especially when he curled his hand into a fist. Nice. B-
PIZZA CLUB: I think everyone was so excited over The Wedding being the 'followup' to Brendon's Choice that they overlooked something. "Pizza Club" is the TRUE followup. You have Andrew and McGuirk facing off, and McGuirk and Brendon facing off over Andrew. As well as Brendon having his own girl problems. All of the conflicts basically got addressed in this episode. A good solid ep. A
BooBoo Runs Wild
My main complaint is the timing. This episode could've fit 22 minutes if they eliminated all that damn pausing between every line of dialogue. It's pretty silly how they'll just sit there forever, not doing anything, and THEN move onto the next line in the script. Otherwise, decent plot. C+
The Brak Show
Well, that was vapid. And pointless. F
Sealab 2021
Outside of a couple of choice lines, I don't really care for this episode either. D
Mission Hill
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this show.
Let me explain WHY I enjoy it so much.
MULTIPLE FREAKING PLOTS. All of the characters in the story actually have LIVES and do stuff in the background during the main plot. There are A, B, and C plots throughout, and that's what makes this show strong, because the characters are strong enough to go on solo quests and still hold the show together.
As for the content within, for the B plot, I thought it was a pretty decent spoof of the MMORPGs. I'm sure it's not technically accurate, but it's not like a regular viewer's going to get angry and yell "I can't believe they didn't emulate the LAG or LATENCY. WORST. SPOOF. EVER." So, if you did. Ha ha. You're a loser.
The A plot was kind of predictable. Getting set up for the PTA and having your chances ruined by the brother. I knew it would happen. But I enjoyed Andy's character and his wit throughout ("At first I didn't think much about you." "Wow, thanks!"). I also enjoy the school staff being shown as the drunk losers they are. WOO.
I thought Jim was one of the best underused elements. He was just sort of there but his lines were gold. ("Want to check out my new game?" "Yes. Yes, I believe I do want to see it.")
Anyway, another solid ep. Calling the parents is probably going to get old quickly. Oh well. A
Space Ghost
SHARROCK: Hm. Refer to Brak Show review. F
KNIFIN AROUND: This is an episode I like, simply because the characters may be brainless, but the writing is SHARP. They really handled the Bjork interview well to get answers like that. Moltar hosting was kind of a neat fanservice trick, but that wore out pretty fast. B

The Brak Show - President Dad:
Best episode of the season. I think it had better pacing than some of the previous ones -- it was more consistent and it didn't really drag anywhere. The best part was the smear campaign. "He wants to steal your money. To buy a golden knife! To stab you!"
And of COURSE it was pointless. Who cares?
Space Ghost - Sharrock:
Matt, don't you realize that this episode was done as a tribute to Sonny Sharrock? You really can't rate it as an actual episode. They did it for him, not for us. Though I actually thought it was pretty funny how they basically just did nothing for a while -- and still had a guest! The return of SG's dance was refreshing too.
Space Ghost - Knifin' Around:
Now this is just a work of art. From the 2001 season, no less! They GOTTA have another season (besides Mommentaries)!

I am not a HM fan, Brak Show is losing it, Sealab has its bad moments, and I've seen Booboo going wild WAY too many times. So, here's my mission hill review.
Mission Hill: Quoting the secretary of Horror from Welcome to Eltingville "It's the stuff that dreams are made of." This show has got to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Now I see why Matt likes it so much. :)
The ideas are absolutely hilarious. Too bad Simpsons can't be like this.
I am not a fan of games like Diablo, but the spoof was absolutely hilarious. A+

Home Movies - Two fine episodes, I can watch these season two episodes over and over again and not get tired of them. "And if you keep it REAL quiet, I might be willing to do an X"
(Pause)
"Keep talking..."
Boo Boo runs wild - I just find these completely uninteresting. I don't like this art style at all.
Brak Show "President Dad" - I'm not the biggest Brak Show fan, but I quite liked this one, mostly I imagine because it was all about Dad, who is far and away my favorite part of the show. The ad was hilarious.
Sealab 2021 - one of my favorite episodes. Swollen-headed Quinn trying to give the warning while being beaten with sticks is a great moment.
Mission Hill - I really like this show. I absolutely LOVE the art design, especially the backgrounds. As I said last week, the thing I like most about the show is that it doesn't feel the need to go off into parody or bizarre sequences every five minutes, which is rare among animated sitcoms. Hopefully we'll see the characters flesh out more as it progresses.
Space Ghost -
"Sharrock" - I love Sonny Sharrock, so I appreciate this episode. And Fred Cracklin' is really funny. "Joining me on the show tonight, Fred Cracklin!" "No way!"
"Knifin' Around" - Quality. The 2001 episodes are uniformly excellent.

[indent]Mission Hill
I missed the first episode last week due to graduation events and now I really wish I had set my VCR. I was hooked from the moment they started playing Cake in the opening. I think one of the funniest parts of it was that being 22 years old I quickly began to pick out aspects of the characters in friends of mine and other people I know in real life. Is there even a slim chance this show could be renewed? While the storylines (as in multiple! story lines as Matt mentioned) were somewhat predictable it did not matter since they were funny anyway. "Do you want to go up to the roof and get toasted?"

Home Movies
Writers Block: Not a bad episode, but then again, there are no bad episodes in the land of Home Movies. Fenton sucks! A-
Pizza Club: Were the hell did PeeWee Herman's bike come from, and how the hell did Lynch get it? Anyways, good episode. A+
Brak Show
President Dad: What? A Brak Show episode that isn't complete ass? A Brak Show episode that was actually funny, and not just in the means of funny for the Brak Show? This was easily the best episode of the season, what with Zorack stealing everyone's mail and dressing up as a pimp, and the pet bombs, and the Louie Armstrong type song, and THUNDERCLEESE! A+
SeaLab 2021
Lost in Time: This is one of the best episodes of SeaLab. I can't say much more than that. A+
Mission Hill
Great Sexpectations: "Wanna get toasted up on the roof?" 'Nuff said. A+
Space Ghost Coast to Coast:
Sharrock: Anyone who hates this episode should be shot. it's a simply magnificent piece of art, and Sonny Sharrock is a legend. A+
Knifin' Around: One of the best episodes of 2001, but it still can't beat Kentucky Nightmare. A

Now if only we could get shows like Sealab and them on DVD...
Brak Show was funny, cartoons + politics = hilarity.
The colors and backgrounds of Mission Hill are trippy...show's funny too. Nice MMPRG sppof too. I actually expected when the 2 kids were racing home for the 3rd one who couldn't get the game installed to have killed them off.
And I feel sorry for that kid...my computer does the same things sometimes.

Brak show- Aww, I was expecting something better from the previews. C-
Mission Hill - A
Great episode tonight. I'm really glad CN picked this up. It's witty, more mature, and adds variety. The MMORPG spoof was right on, and Jim is a great character. The show is very strong, and with any luck, AS will try to pick up a second season for Mission Hill over Baby blues.

You know, Baby Blues has its charm as well. I hope CN pick up both if two seasons are in the works. Replace that second home movies at least (July is going to rule).

Home Movies 1: Funny, funny, funny, FUNNY. This is one of my faves. I laugh every 10 seconds at something in this. McGuirk is at his best when he goes mad from insomnia and totally berates Melissa("ATTENTION ALL INSOMNIACS! THE SECRET TO FALLING ASLEEP IS LYING DOWN AND CLOSING YOUR EYES!!!!!!"), Brendan's ridiculous dream is a riot, and of course, the Rice song, which I probably want an MP3 of more than any other AS song.
HM2: I don't like this one as much as everyone else. Yes, it IS funny, but Paula acted really out of character and it bugged me. I like the band scenes("Now, over 100 people know their name.") and McGuirk's Pizza Club a lot, though.
Boo-Boo Runs Wild: We'd already seen this, so I played GBA and my brother watched Disney Channel(:P). I thought this was just....meh. Way, way too slow, and not just because of the line timing. The new Ren & Stimpy's better not be like this.
Brak: This wasn't as good as the hilarious Giant Clam/Wonderbird episode, but it was certainly better than Poppy. Dad's commercial was awesome, because that really is how politics work. When my county had a governor campaign a few years back, each of the candidate's ads were EXACTLY like that. Oh, and the Louie Armstrong song was just weird.
Sealab: Yeah, this is a really good one. I really like the Star Wars and Gladiator refs. The ending to this one is wonderfully insane.
Mission Hill: I. LOVE. THIS. SHOW. Best ASC show next to Space Ghost. The race scene at the end was great, with the cat and the bike("I"m doing it, Daddy! I'm riding for the-AAAH!"). What I didn't like is the lack of resolution to the subplot involving Posie's vegetables. She just vanished after the grocer agreed to buy them. Also, didn't Andy already have a girlfriend? Naughty, naughty boy.:D
Have yet to watch the recorded Space Ghost, but I do love Knifin' Around. "Ooooooh yeah! Welcome to The Moltar Show!" "I have to go to the toilet."
Really good night overall, though I could have done without Boo-Boo. I REALLY want to see Night of the Living Doo again. As for Mission Hill and Baby Blues getting renewed, I really wish both would be, but that seems unlikely. If I have to pick one, it's MH. It has such potential.(Can't say a verdict on Oblongs yet, but if it relies solely on gross-out humor and nothing else, I'm probably going to hate it.)

I missed Home Movies, sorry I was busy.
The Brak Show - First two weeks of Adult Swim I liked this more than ATHF and Harvey Birdman and liked it as an equal to Sealab. My how the mighty have fallen. Had its points. Grade: D
Sealab 2021 - SWEET! This is my second favorite episode behind the one episode with Michael Cain and the Easy Bake Oven. Dopplegangers shall rule the world soon enough. Grade: A+
Mission Hill - I didn't like the first episode too much, but this one was hilirious. The Lan game and the stoner (sorry not good with names) were absolute hysterical. Also it doesnt seem to rely on references to other material to much. The only problem I have is I think it might be trying to hard to be controversial. Grade: A-
Fell asleep after Mission Hill, sorry it was a long day

Mah Re-vyou!
Missed most of Home Movies, because, I was taking a shower.
Boo Boo Runs Wild- Eh, Lord knows I love Spumco, he really does know it and it is true...BUT...these shorts kinda sucked. I'm sorry, John K. I wub you, i like the animation, and I like most of your other cartoons, but...those were just bleck.
Grade: D
Brak Show: Even less filler than usual, but I thought the commercial for Dad's campaign was pretty funny. Zorak is still the greatest character.
Grade: C
Sealab: Again, not their best, but still funnier than the other two things. The Stormy's were especially funny, as was the Quinn and Stormy's who were distorted...*lol* I liked it.
Grade: B-
Mission Hill: Mattsu, tell whoever you happen to be in connection with at William's Street, that I love and thank them and will send them lots and lots of sausage in their honor for putting this show on Adult Swim. =D In other words, I really like this show. This ep wasn't quite as good as the first one, but still pretty damn funny. Toby's mom (the PTA lady) reminded me so very much of just about every soccer mom in our town. I wanted to cry. Kevin's situation also seemed so firmiliar to me..."Get the hell off the computer, and go to the dance or other social event." Yes. So sad that I could relate to that. All in all, I love this show, and hate waiting an entire WEEK just to see more of it.
Grade: A
Space Ghost; Missed the first one, but I've seen Knifin' Around enough times to review it.
I absolutely LOVE this episode. It is my favorite, bar none. Much like Kentucky Nightmare, there are too many good quotes..."So interesting and SO perseptive that now we will fight with knives!" Its so very funny, though I sorta feel bad for Bjork. All the same, it just totally r0x0rz...and not just because Tom Yorke was there. *BIG Radiohead fan*
Grade: A+

Missed most of ASC - holiday weekends with social stuff and people staying over can really screw up one's television watching!
Here's what I did see:
The Brak Show: not the best episode they ever did, but worth watching just to see Zorak playing a pimp AND a prostitute! B
Sealab 2021: this one had the whole room laughing!
Quinn: "What time is it?" Stormy: "It's Dodgeball time!" Heehee :D A
I missed Mission Hill for the second week in a row! :( That is just plain sad! Here's hoping I manage it next week!

I just saw only one of the ASC shows last night, (The Brak Show) but it's gut-bustingly funny! Especially that political TV commercial that Brak's dad made? All-out hilarious!

One more thing...
I hope the the Boo Boo short will help keep John K. busy until the NEW episodes of a certain Ashma-Hound Chihuahua and a fat red cat with the big blue nose comes to households in 2003.

Home Movies: I'd actually seen both of these before. Writer's Block isn't bad; the sleep depravation is the best part. Pizza Club isn't bad either; again the McGuirk parts are the best. Brendan's stories in both of these didn't do much for me. B for both
John K: First time I'd seen this (just got CN this year). Reminded me of Ren and Stimpy: funny slapstick, but inexplicable tedious, long pauses in the action. And way too much drool. C
Brak: The political ad, Zorak's mail-stealing game and Thundercleese's posturing make this the best one I've seen. A-
Sealab: Another closet favorite episode of a series that usually leaves me flat. "What time is it?" "I said it's dodge ball time, *****." A
Mission Hill: I still don't see the appeal of this series at all.
Shots at Internet gaming are too easy. When the words "great sex" were highlighted on the chalkboard behind the teacher, I groaned (all the subtlely of a sledgehammer). I'll admit the drunk teacher conference was amusing, but most of the time this show tries way too desperately hard to be shocking, but must stay within the confines of TV-14. I couldn't make it past the first commercial break. Inc.

John K. - Sort of loses whatever it had after the first viewing. And in addition to drool, there's a lot of psychotic screaming. But then again psychotic screaming seems ot be a John K. signiture...
Brak - Decent episode, although the political ad and debate were pretty clever. The Brak Show though, seems to suffer from not having much memorable...it's good, but comes off as filler... C
Mission Hill - While I'm not exactly crazy for it, I will concede that it's a good show. However, I felt that the whole posing-as-someone-else-to-get-an-attractive-woman plot line was old. I agree with Jfurdell's point about the wide-open, easy target of internet gaming, but the selling the character into slavery joke was pretty funny though. B-

Only watched a few of the shows, but was impressed overall:
John K. - I saw it when it premiered a few years ago. Loved it then, love it now. I'm not someone who claims that John K. is the be all and end all of animation, but I still feel he has a lot to offer. I have always loved his style. I won't gush too much, except to say that I eagerly await Ren & Stimpy's revival. A
Space Ghost - A good episode, especially since I am a huge fan of Bjork and Radiohead. I never thought I would see Thom Yorke actually laugh! However, the show in general just doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. B-
Brak Show - More interesting to me than Space Ghost at this point. A little too random, but with some real laugh out loud moments. B
Mission Hill - It figures that when I finally stumble upon a funny show like this, it's already out of production. Needless to say this show was the highlight of the evening. It's as funny as the Simpsons used to be, and equally as edgy as The Family Guy. A+
Home Movies:
I usually don't watch it. Sorry.
John K.
I was never a big fan of Ren & Stimpy and turned the Boo Boo special off not even five minutes in. :(
Brak Show:
I missed half the episode due to a download. I only saw the ending where they had their debate. I did like Dad's answers to everything, and the emphasis on sidewalks. Those never get enough treatment.
Sealab:
I like this episode, but there are a few episodes I like more. But why is it Marco does everything the captain says one episode, then argues with him the next?
Mission Hill:
I saw the first half, but fell asleep during the commercial and missed the rest of it. But from what I saw it was pretty funny, although the colors are weird.
Space Ghost:
Luckily, it's repeats.
Sharrock: I really liked this episode. Though a few more jokes could have been put in.
Knifin' Around: I have only one thing to say: I want Moltar's knife! :D

Space Ghost is so spublicious!

John K Trash: Pointless. Just nauseating humor and sound effects. And I think there were some sound effects that didn't go with the sounds. D- (Because no ASC show is F material)
Brak: Bizzare and funny. B+
Sealab: One of the first episodes I saw, still hilarious. A
Mission Hill: At first I thought this would be trash, but now I saw it, and loved it. GIVE ME MORE! A
Space Ghost: First was a funny annoying tribute, second was pure hilarity (I loved that so much that now we shall fight with knives!) B-/A+

HM1 - Loved this episode. Mc Guirk is a freakin scream in this. I have only recently started watching home movies and I like em more everytime I see them. B+
HM2 - Like this one as well but not as much as the 1st one. McGuirk competeing for Brandon 's affection and Perry being Lactose intorant at a Piza place!!! HAHAHAHHAHA B-
Boo Runs Wild - too long and too gross D
Mission Hill - FINALLY I get to see this show. Has alot of depth an character development. Love the art..... I was pleasantly surprised at how witty and dry this show is. A-
