Are they all? I know Bubblegum Crisis and Crash are but what about BG2040?

No. BGC 2040 is an update.

Is this a good series?

I thought Crisis was decent and I've never gotten a chance to see Crash. I want to see 2040, but it's not a high priority.

There are other series out there worth looking at first.

"Decent" is not good enough of a reason for me to want to buy the DVDs. I don't think I'll be checking them out.

The anime DVDs currently worth checking out (that may be new to you--I only have a foggy memory of your collection, Cal) , in my opinion, are:
08TH MS Team
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai X: Trust and Samurai X: Betrayal
Castle of Cagliostro
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Utena the movie (upcoming)
Niea_7 (upcoming)
The series that I personally am collecting but I can't easily recommend to a casual viewer:
Sailor Moon S
Gasaraki
Votoms
Rurouni Kenshin
If anyone wants to know more about these titles, jusk ask.
Series you might be interested in but should be warned against:
Mobile Suit Gundam--Good show, probably great for fans of Robotech and Star Blazers, but the DVD does not have Japanese with English subtitles. No sub DVD is available either. Unless you really like the dub, I would wait until Bandai can get the rights to the Japanese track.

From what I understand Bandai of America wasn't able to get the rights to the Japanese track because Sunrise just got off their butts and is finally releasing or is about to release MSG for the first time in Japan on DVD and didn't want to have two releases of the Japanese version at the same time. But the wait should be worth it, Bandai's usually good about extras and rewarding fans. When they do get around to releasing the dual language version it should be loaded.
As for you list, it's good but Utena wasn't exactly my cup of tea. I'd replace it with Cowboy Bebop. Can't go wrong with CB.

Well, I was replying to Calhoun, and I knew he already owned CB, so that would be redundant. I think Utena is worth a shot--if he likes David Lynch films, Utena is up his alley.
One thing--the MSG DVDs might be sub-only when it eventually comes out. Card Captor Sakura was. The MSG movie trilogy DVDs would probably be released a lot earlier, and for those who want a fairly accurate summation of the TV series, the movies are still worth it. Also, the third part of the trilogy has a slightly different take on the events it supposedly covers in the TV series. Both are valid takes.

Thanks for the tips! I will have to check these out!
I just watched the first episode of the Big O last night and thought it was pretty cool, tho I can see why people compared this to the Batman ANimated series. And I got my Gatchaman DVD today, so you know what I will be watching tonight!
