Disney has announced they are canning the ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE spin off cartoon after the poor box office returns. 13 episodes were sent overseas to be produced. So far, 15 episodes were recorded, out of the total 39. The reasons?
1. The poor internation performance of ATLANTIS, which may not hit $100 mill.
2. The show was deemed 'too scary' for the TOON DISNEY audience.
The show was to have a GODZILLA: TAS-esque feel, with the main cast of ATLANTIS taking on sea monsters and sea people. It was set to debut this fall and run for 39 episodes, initially.

Too scary? Sheesh. I doubt it could be as grim as Gargoyles... make it a night toon as a double feature with that show.
Wait a sec... how could they pull of an Atlantis cartoon? Milo's gone, and the rest of the crew were comfortably rich and able to pursue their dreams. And a prequel show would still eliminate Milo. Maybe it's better this didn't surface.
...odd that they'd cancel it in the middle of production, instead of just finishing the episodes they shipped overseas in an attempt to recoup Disney's investment in the series.

I guess they'd be doing what SONY did with MIB and just ignore the ending. Milo (with a new voice) would be on the 'Team'. I entire cast, save Fox, was back recording episodes. I guess Atlanteans were also involved in the series, also. I'll try and find some more descriptions on it.

This is a major bummer. If there was one spin off series I would have liked to see, it was this one. Too bad they won't even give it a chance. Is there anyway we will get to see the finished episodes? It would be a shame to let them be shelved.

Episodes were partly finished at best. No one episode was completed, just either a few animated storyboards. Disney cut this before they lost out too much on it.

Bummer. Animation on TV is filled with more what if memories than I care to count. I have confidence this series would have been rather cool to see.

The only animation I think they may have got done (and possibly aired) would be for the COMING THIS FALL promos that popped up.
