It appears Viz has said that IY is pretty much a lock for CN but havn't stated which block.Any ideas?
I'm gonna say AS for a few reasons.First off it's pretty mature in dealing with death and loss of loved ones.Second the content, while not very consistent,is fairly adult. It's rare to see blood, but man o man does it get pretty bloody at times.Plus the dark feel that Naraku has would really spook a few parents.IY isn't a full fledged R rated show, but just adult enough that it couldn't be marketed to kids.

Inu-Yasha does not have much offensive material to me but if it's going to be on CN, the little obscure material Inu-Yasha does have will be completely edited out...with is sad because it's part of the whole story. So even though this news satisfies me it saddens me to!

It's cool that Inu-Yasha might be coming. I was expecting it.
But I need more confirmation than just someone saying that Viz said something. I need to know where they said it.

Fatal mentioned where they said it in this (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30772) thread.

[indent]More specifically, information regarding this can be found at animenewsnetwork.com's Anime Cental report found here:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/archives/news/cons/2002/acen/industry.php#viz
The specific paragraph dealing with this says:
"Finally, Viz still has the rights to the Inu Yasha anime, and are working on getting it on Cartoon Network. They are
very confident that it will be broadcast on CN but at this time they don't know when. The home video release dates will depend on when the broadcast dates are agreed on."

I hope these shows do come to CN. I think they would fit best on the ASA block.

Nothings bad with it as it except for a little gore, But I don't see how you'd cover up rotten corpses. I mean, in the first episode alone has a raven popping through the chest of an undead corpse. It's a rather gorey scene and crucial to the plot. Simular scenes in every other episode.
I would say it's not adult enough for AS, but I don't see how it could air on Toonami. It's not really editable (is that a word?).
I love Inu-Yasha, it's one of my favorite series, but I don't want it to air on CN. AS or not, I don't want it to air.

I completely agree, that's what I kept thinking while watching it (damn I need more eps,I'm only on 54)
But I however do want it on TV.I'm a weird otaku type,I DO want as much anime on TV as possible,go figure
It will go on AS because it needs the show more. No one wants to see the same Y7 Outlaw Star that was on Toonami a year ago.

Not to mention Inu-Yasha has a little bit of bath-time-nudity. Which COULD be covered up with Digital Bikini's(ala-Tenchi), so that we wont miss pieces of the story.
Anyway, I'm going to say AS. Right now I really believe CN NEEDS to concentrate more on developing series for AS, rather than Toonami. Even despite the fact that Toonami is starting to suck more & more(but, it'll get better with He-Man & Armada).
As for Initial D....I have absolutely no idea what it's about, so I cant say.

If Inu-Yasha makes it to CN, perhaps we might see the Fatal Fury specials and movie at some point on CN. That wouls rule.
Perhaps if Inu-Yasha is popular when it comes to CN, we might just see more confirmed rumors of Rumiko's favorite cursed gender changing martial artists. One can dream, right?
(note: I'm focusing on the theme of Viz with CN. Not just Ranma, because Viz has plently of good shows. heck, they're selling Zoids after all.)

just read that Viz owns Hamtaro and CN picked it up from them, finally CN got something not from bandai. and the zoids anime is by pioneer.

it's only been mentioned for toonami, unless they say something otherwise. Theirs no evidence of it going to ASA.

i dont think it was mentioned for anything, they just said that they[viz] are confident that it will air on cartoon network, they didnt say wheter it will be on toonami or AS. besides, toonami has G Gundam, Big O2, He-man and Transformers and i cant forget the new season of Dragonball Z and Dragonball. ASA has no new shows reported for this coming fall

I was talking about Sean mostly assuring us it was under much speculation for toonami last year.
Inu is really inbetween, half-adult and half not.
Does it really need the ASA standards?
True ASA needs shows, but, i think the space should be filled for other shows that really need that editting.
I'd rather ASA pick up Initial D or something else.

I may have misunderstood (I hope I did), but are you calling InuYasha semi-medicore!?
That's my numero uno favorite anime!

Let us know when it'll be on, okay? A lot of us have been waiting...

i found something interesting...or maybe not...anyway, some 2 days ago, the statement about initial d says that tokyopop has not decided on a dvd release date becuase of its potential to be on tv, and then 2 days later, they took out that statement...wonder why
anyway, DarkMaster: sean was probably assuring that IY would be on toonami becuase AS wasnt even on last year, they probably changed their minds or something

Hubba-WHA?! Did I miss something? I mean, I knew Big O 2 was coming to the US first, but for some reason people are already claiming it for either ASA or Toonami. I mean, what's been confirmed is pretty vague, as they haven't even said that it's definitely going to be on CN (which is acutally probably the ONLY given as far as Big O 2 goes). Personally I'd rather see it on ASA (preceded with a recut-to-ASA-standards version of Big O before the series starts up), since I'm of the personal belief that since ASA started up, Toonami is completely useless for new anime aquisitions that needs more than just a little cutting up.
Anyways, I'd like to see some confirmation somewhere one way or another before folks start assuming all over the place. And, even though this is a speculation thread, that goes for Inu-Yasha too in a month or two (if they haven't announced the programming intentions by then), which is a show I do want to see on TV, because hey, Rumiko deserves a more international money than she's getting (whether she's one of the richest in japan or not).

Um, excuse my ignorance but what is Inu-Yasha ? I mean what's the plot and such.

More than likely, it will be AS material, what with Kikyou stealing souls (and the scene where she gets mauled by "Inuyasha"), Sesshoumaru losing an arm (and putting out Inuyasha's eye), Naraku's rather disgusting minions in the later episodes, Naraku himself eliminating the youkai exterminators' town....The gore content would definately mean either putting it on AS or subjecting it to high-level cutting.
Then you have the other, typically Takahashi add-ins, such as Miroku's perversion, the kid that accidentally ends up with Kagome's undergarments. Once we get to the introduction of the Shinchinin-tai, there's the fact that Jakotsu is blatantly gay and has a thing for Inuyasha (and he's kinda-sorta a crossdresser too, betcha they turn him into a girl if it ends up on Toonami).
Add in the fact that all the Feudal Japan-isms would confuse little kids. (as if they're gonna understand the irony of Miroku being a pervert, or Kaede's role in the series..).
Then it is settled. ASA. Let's just hope the higher-ups agree.

And thus I am confused....
OK, I have always wanted to see IY even if I had to buy the tapes/DVDs myself, but I am not too sure what is going on. I would love to see this series on CN, whether it is on Toonami or ASA (most likely ASA, but that is my opinion), but who knows the deal could still fall through. (Centepede, anyone?)
