Which CB ep you scares the living daylights out of you?

Definately Pierot Le Fou. From the preview with Tongpu's insane laughing, to Spike's encounter in the alley and the carnival, and of course, the absolutely horrifying flashback sequence. Just one of the many reasons why its my fave outside of the 5 eps surrounding Spike's past.
Wen's 'death' gets second place.

Pierrot Le Fou. Ballad of Fallen Angels wasn't as scary as it was bad-ass. But then again, few things are.

Those scenes when they're doing all those freaky experiments....
<Shudder>
I'd just as well NOT see that episode again.
Actually Ballad of Fallen Angels wasn't scary at all, just bad-ass. The two scariest/freakiest episodes are Sympathy for the Devil and Pierot Le Fou.

I don't know why but Sympathy For The Devil freaks me out a bit. It's just that kid's face as soon as, and after he gets shot.
The end of Sympathy for the Devil was slightly freaky with the kid aging hundreds of years in seconds. But the freakiest was definetly Pierot Le Fou from his laughter to tests to his reaction to the cat it all had an effect on me.

Pierrot le Fou lost WAY too much in its translation from Japanese to English, but I have to vote for it anyway, because its still scarier. It just completely freaked me out the first time I watched it. If you're ever going to look at the Japanese version of a Bebop episode, pick Pierrot le Fou, then watch Cowboy Funk and Sympathy for the Devil in Japanese. Those three episodes are episodes best left in Japanese, they lost alot of their effect when translated, more Pierrot le Fou and Cowboy Funk than Sympathy for the Devil.

Pierrot le Fou without a doubt. With his laugh, the experiments, it was almost like something out of a horror film. The disturbing part, I've heard Pierrot is 10x scarier in the original version.

I say the scariest one is when Zorbrak went to buy the Perfet Sessions box set for his birthday, and after sitting on a shelf until they day before he went to buy it, SOMEONE beat him to it! :( ....I never did get a box and now it's too late ::cries::
Don't worry, you can always pick one up at eBay for roughly 1.9 billion dollars.
As for the scariest episode, I thought Toys in the Attic had some suspsense in it.

Pierrot, absolutely. The ending is especially just... mind-blowing. Absolutely insane and disturbing. I was just totally freaked out after it ended! The childlike whining and then, suddenly... ... ...agh!

Peirrot Le Fou. Reminds me of one of those Tales from the Crypt episodes back then on HBO.

Id have to agree with everyone else Pierot Le Fou is really creepy one. The way he is like really deadly but when he gets hurt he wines like a baby. HE's creepy. Sympathy for the Devil was just weird when the kid gets shot and ages really fast.

Yeah, but it was funny.
Nonetheless, Peirrot Le Fou is the scariest.

I'm gonna have to agree with the "sympathy for the devil" vote. That episode was extremely creepy at the end. Pierrot le Fou didn't really scare me.

I going to say Peirrot Le Foum, not so much cause it was scary but more because it was just down right strange.Brain Scratch was a little bit odd as well dealing with the subject of cults.

I say toys in the attic also. granted it was funny (like the flame thrower ciggarette bit). but thinking that everyone on the bebobp died. oh yeah that was the scariest.

Toys in the Attic wasn't scary when I realized the parasite was a purple null, and its 'queen' was a big frozen....What'd Spike call it? A "brog lobster"?
OK....Considering that Sympathy for the Devil spooked me so badly I don't want to watch it again, I'm nervous about watching Peirrot Lo Fou. But I want to watch it, since it's supposed to be so great. Let me just ask one thing to be prepared: Everyone keeps mentioning the scene about "the experiment". Now, I know the plot of this episode, so I know who the experiment is...but WHAT makes the scene so creepy?
Sheamon

The direction, the music, the realism, the overall mood of the scene. I'd say its not just the scariest thing I've ever seen in CB, but the scariest thing I've ever seen in an anime. The kinda stuff that gives you nightmares :(

My scariest Cowboy Bebop episode is the Ballad of Fallen Angels.

"Sympathy for the Devil" royally freaked me out. That ending...*shudders*
As for "Ballad", that's actually what caused me to fall in love with Bebop in the first place. Not so much scary...beautiful would be a better word for it.

Yeah -- "Sympathy" was a little iffy. Would he age, blow up, or worse? But "Le Fou" was the scariest. And that freakishly slow, minor-keyed circus music only added to it.
(Kind of like certain episodes of "Courage the Cowardly Dog", but I'm not really a fan of that show anymore.)

Peirrot Le Fou......
I was extremely creeped out during the previews for this episode. The episode was just as scary...... I don't know how Spike could face off against that guy.....
*has flashback of scenes from episode*
*closes eyes and shakes head*
...I hate circuses. I am deathly afraid of clowns....... If I was Spike, my pants would have been wet.

I haven't seen Pierrot Le Fou yet, but if it is anything like some previews i've seen, I'll probably be curled in the fetal position for a while.
Personally, Sympathy for the Devil didn't really bother me...however, the scene in Ballad of Fallen Angels where Faye walks in and sees Mao Yenri's corpse sitting in the chair...that was pretty damn creepy. Especially if you see it unedited.

People please, I bet none of you have ever seen Jupiter Jazz unedited. That esipode is whack. You have nothing but guys dressed up as women, Not to mention there ho's. Then you have that Gerne guy whose actually a shemale (shower scene). Not only that but it is pretty bloody. And why is Ballad of Fallen Angels a freaky esp. Its not freaky its acutally confusing cause your wondering whats keeping that dress fron snapping.

The scariest episode is definitely "Pierrot Le Fou". I watched the scene where Tongpu is getting experimented on, without the lights on, and it was the creepiest experience I ever had watching an animated show. I had nightmares, even though I wasn't scared while I was watching it.

No, no, Real Folk Blues Part 2 is the scariest. Watch, horrified, as Bebop ends unsatisfingly without anything resembling closure, flanked by a cliched film noir style, it's last message a horrifingly innappropriate final line, topped off with a cheesy, introspective pop ballad! Scream, fanboy, scream!

First off, I definately didn't think Jupiter Jazz was scary. Between me, you, and a garden post, cross-dressers and "shemales" really don't send me into hysterical fits of crying and thumb sucking. Strange and funny maybe, but scary, hardly.
I do however agree with Random Guy...I was so disappointed by Bebop's lack of closure at the end that I almost screamed. I'm not saying a necessarily expected an ending where Julia and Spike run off together and have kids etc...but...I dunno. I guess I wish for a little more...
And, for some strange reason I actually had a nightmare last night about Pierrot Le Fou JUST from discussing it here...-(o.O)- It just makes me wanna see it even more... >=)

Why'd you feel so unfulfilled? How'd they fail in resolving things? Examples?

Sheamon, I just KNEW you'd have something to say ;)
Anyways, I pretty much summed up my feelings a couple of posts ago. Of course, that's nothing you can't disagree and invent counter-examples for. Don't get me wrong, the ending worked for a lot of people which means there's obviously some merit to it. But you know, I just didn't like it. Some endings just don't do it for some people. Different strokes for different folks, my friends.

I think the best part about Pierrot Le Fou, as I've learned from websites on CB, was it's allusions to BTAS with Mad Pierrot resembling the Penguin and he's as loony as the Joker ever could be. Plus the amusement park at the end alludes to the BTAS ep "Be a Clown" as well as The Adventures of Batman and Robin video game where you battle the Joker.
BTW, anyone know the title of that part of the video game? I can't remember it.

Hrm....I dunno. I only saw it once, a while ago, so I can't really cite specific examples (I'm not good at making a point ^-^()) All I remember though was after watching it just feeling very unfulfilled and sorta confused. Maybe I was just pissed that the series was over. Guess I'll just watch it again a few more times (heaven forbid =P)

I think what made Pierrot Le Fou so scary was not only the music, whcih was pretty damn creepy, not only Tongpu, who was probably the creepiest thing in the entire episode, but Spike's reaction to everything Tongpu did. We've seen Spike go one on one with Vicious, take on the entire Syndicate, run out of gas while burning up and decending towards the earth and his reaction was always like "Oh well. Or whatever happens, happens." Lots of the time it looks like he enojoyed half the crap he went through. But through out almost the entire episode of Pierrot Le Fou, Spike has a scared look on his face. Spike was afraid of dying, afraid of who he was up against, and never thought that he could win this time. We've never seen Spike like that before and seeing him like that probably made most of us scared of what might happen to him and what the monster was capable of.

lol. Well, like almost anything out there, you can't get the full effect only watching something once. Now would be a great time to get back into it considering they're still rather early in the series on its run on ASA ;)

Funny thing was, I saw Training Day the same day I saw the ending to CB.... and I thought to myself "Huh. Very similiar ending. Bummer."
Thing is, it was a lot less out of place in Training Day.
