For over three years, I have been trying to find out as much as i can\ find as many pictures as i can about the censored "slave" centaurs in the pastoral symphony in the original "Fantasia". I also know that in the 1990 version, the scenes are cropped or cut, and that the DVD includes more of the scene (i have both in my possesion). I am also confused about the two shots of Baccus being assisted to sit in his thrown (unsuccsessfully). In the 1990 video, these shots are cropped tightly, but in the DVD, they dont seem cropped at all. If anyone knows anything about any of this, please reply.

The female centaurs had breasts, IIRC. It was pretty innocent nudity, not unlike documentary footage of natives in poorer nations. Pretty silly censorship, IIRC.

Well, I know for sure that there was a shot of a VERY stereotyped centaurette (Her name in the notes is "Sunflower")shining the hoof of a beautiful, white centaurette(ive seen a picture of the full scene), and i am positive that there were other scenes cropped or cut alltogether for the exact same reason (for example, now all you see of the above shot is the white centaurette's upperhalf-but you can still see her smiling down at something when she blows off some stuff from her nail file!), among them are when the pink one is dancing, when the centaurettes first see their boyfriends, and some of baccuses scenes. THAT is all i know about this, and i only know what i know from a little research, and looking closely at the tape and DVD.

To Larry-
Actually, this was true, but im reffering to a different censored issue, one for political correctness.

The potential racism, you mean? I thought that was put back in in a recent release.

Well, not exactly. what they restored recently was the interstitial footage in between the shorts+ more cropped versions of the racist scenes they didnt show before, but they were still VERY cropped. I SERIOUSLY doubt they'll ever re-release the originals, the moneymad, politically correct obsessed suckers that the disney company staff is today.

Have any of these cropped scenes been in any of the video releases? Man, just when you think you know what Disney has edited, there's a whole new list! And welcome to the board, Betaman8! I recommend you read the rules linked aboive!

The scenes edited out of Fantasia due to racial imagery can be found here:

Scroll to the bottom and there they are.

Thanks to the research ive done and these new clips that have been brought to my attention, I can now say completely what happened with these scenes:
When the film was made in 1940, these scenes were not thought to be wrong. In fact, it wasnt until 1968 until they were thought to be wrong. These are the scenes invloved:
1. When the Centaurettes first start primping themselves for their suitors, A breif shot of Sunflower cleaning a white, blonde centaurettes hoof. (Cropped on DVD).
2. Sunflower pins flowers to a white one's tail, and then the tail shakes causing the flowers to fall off. (completely cut on DVD).
3. Sunflower follows the white one, and successfully pins the flowers on. (cropped on DVD).
4. while the purple centaurette dances, sunflower holds a train of flowers attatched to her. (cropped on DVD).
5. When Baccus tries to climb a stair case, sunflower rolls up the red carpet. (digitally altered on DVD).
6. When the pegasuses try to help Bacuss sit down (unsuccessfully), Sunflower helps too. (digitally altered on DVD).
