For those of you who have no earthly idea what Mxy's talking about (that is to say, all of you), go here:

Apparently it was a service that allowed you to download games to your Genesis five years ago. Also apparently, it took off like a lead balloon, hence its obscurity.
(I didn't know what it was either, I had to look it up.)

I had it too. It was a decent idea but they didn't advertise it enough plus when it was launched the end of the 16-bit era was already in sight. I remeber a few Sega Channel excusive games came out and from time to time they even put on beta versions of games in the works (alot of those were never finnished). Of course such a thing can't work with the amount of data in todays games. It would take a lot longer to download Sonic Adventure 2 over the cable then it took to download Sonic 2

i had this thing and i loved it. it was so cool. you could have any sega game you wanted, plus it had this cool little surfer dude symbol holding a sega above his head. it was only 30 bucks a month. it ruled!

Exactly, by the time it came to my neck of the woods, they were advertising the next wave. I think it was Super Nintendo.

...and the NES was 8-bit. The SNES, the Genesis nemesis (hee hee) was 16-bit.

Sega Channel had "MegaMan: The Wily Wars" an 'updated' version of the first 3 NES MegaMan games, wrapped into one. Unfortunately, even though it was released in Japan, Europe and Australia... it was only available on TSC here.
Also... I'm told that one of Genesis' most fun games, PulseMan, was only available on Sega Channel.

Actually, my at-the-time friend _very_ briefly had Sega Channel, but I never saw it in action. He didn't seem to like it very much, but then again, he was very young... it was about five years ago, yeah.
Wily Wars was exclusive to Sega Channel? Hmm... no wonder I've never touched it.

I had it for a few months. Wasn't worth it IMO.

There was one... in Japan. I know, I was hoping for one too. Still, I had Sega Channel, and I actually liked it. We got to play games like "Earthworm Jim" and "Phantasy Star 4" before anyone else. The thing that bugged me, however, was that saving a game was tough. I played though the first twenty minutes of PS4 seven times until I figured out a way for my saved game to stick.

Why, exactly? Personally, I thought it looked like a pretty good deal... I mean, 50 available games per month, for only $30?!
