Since this week's new episode will be about Jack reminiscing about the "good ol' days" in Japan before he was sent to the future, is there a chance that we'll finally learn Jack's real name?????
I mean, this has been one annoying plothole since the beginning of Samurai Jack. Why couldn't they have Jack use his real name when he first introduced himself, then have the dogs say they don't understand or don't know how to pronounce it, then have him remember those dudes calling him Jack and say "call me Jack, then."???
Was he even given a name in the first place???
Gah, maybe I'm reading too much into this. But still...this plothole makes my head hurt...

I just found this out: his real name is...
Akira Toshiro Yojimbo Kaiju Ifukube Chushingura
(this is why he wants everybody to just call him "Jack!")
April Fool! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist!)
But seriously, you bring up an interesting point. He could have had a real name that everyone pronounces incorrectly, like the one Jackie Chan's character in Shanghai Noon had.
"Wha'ss yor name?"
"Chung Wang" (for the benefit of those who haven't seen this movie yet)
"John Wayne? That's a terrible name fer a cowboy..."
"I am more than a Cartoon Cartoon...I am an Original!'

His name is Bob and he's a samurai. :wakko:
Spolier: Blow up to read:
Yeah, stupid April Fool's joke. Sorry.

The show's creators are the ones who know for sure, of course. Maybe they do have a 'real' name for Jack which they're planning to reveal unexpectedly, like the 'Seinfeld' folks did with Krammer's first name- remember that?
It turned out to be 'Cosmo'.

Well, since it was inspired by the films of Akira Kurosawa and his favorite leading man was Toshiro Mifune (forgive me if I've misspelled this) perhaps Jack's name will be an homage to them in some way?
Just speculating.

They probibably won't call him anything.
