STORY TIME: It was "Tank!" that actually got me started watching Cowboy Bebop. And after buying OST 1 (just for Tank!), I've fallen in love with this music!

(Side note: I unfortunately started watching around episode 19, and now that I've seen #1, I can say a lot of stuff at the end connects well with the beginning. It's more like a story now, instead of a sit-com. The first episode ROCKED! (Would it have rocked more had I not seen later episodes? Who knows...))

So... an open question to all CB soundtrack owners: What is your favorite disk (other than #1, of course)? There should be a poll or something below to track answers. If it's not working, I'm sorry; just reply with answers.

(And if you want to list favorite track and reason (s) why in a reply, go ahead.)

That is all; thank you... so much!

They're all quite good, as I've come to expect from Kanno. If I had to pick one, I'd say the third one since it contains so many good lyrical songs. Blue, Call Me Call Me, Adieu, Flying Teapot, Words That We Couldn't Say, Wo Quin No Con(or whatever its called -_-), and so on... I'd rank OST 1 after that with all the good BGM, and OST 2 last, which is the usual 'experimental' disc (which is still extremely good, just not as good as the other 2 :P) Haven't heard enough of the movie OST to judge that yet, the other ones like Vitaminless, Cowgirl Ed, Ask DNA, etc... are too short to rank with the others.

Actually, for pure super-packed eclectic Bebop joy, I think that the movie soundtrack wins hands down. It has "Clutch", "Yo Pumpkin Head", "Butterfly", "Pushing the Sky". . . practically every track on that disk is a winner.

I have the Knockin' On Heaven's Door soundtrack coming my way as soon as my friend studying in Taiwan comes home. mmmmm... Of course, he won't be back until June. After downloading a bunch of mp3s, it would be impossible to pick one of the soundtrack discs, because they're all incomplete. My favorite tracks are Wo Qui No Coin, Bad Dog No Biscuit, RFB, See You Space Cowboy, Blue, actually, I'm just going to stop there and say that all the soundtracks are pretty much essential.

I just got OST 1 about a week ago, and have played it, all the way through, ever since. I think I'm going to have to order "Blue" now, after everybody hear has raved about it so much.

Since "Future Blues" isn't on the list, I'd have to say "Blue". It's funny how the Japanese can write better English vocal songs than half the bands over here.

Better than half the bands over here that are POPULAR. Get into the niche music, and you'll find yourself quite wrong. At least, I think... see my signature, for example.

I tend to agree. The best Bebop music is instrumental or in Japanese. The English lyrics tend to be awkward and somewhat corny, though they have their moments, like in "Blue". I think the nuance of poetry requires a feel for a language that's difficult to understand if it's not your natural language. But a different kind of poetry can be heard and felt in foreign languages. It's why I like listening to music sung in Japanese or other languages. I don't know what they're saying, but a feeling is conveyed all the same. And that feeling is purer, in a way, because I'm not distracted by a bad line or awkward meter. I'm sure the english songs offer this to the japanese listener. Indeed, the fact that Cowboy Bebop is so steeped in the english language is all to convey a certain feel to the japanese viewer.

The sound tracks from Bebop are so arosmatic when hearing to me it's just really enjoyable.

I agree. Songs for anime done in english or have been translated to english are mostly not as well done as the japanese music. And this is just my opinion but the japanese language seems smoother in music. Anime and anime music shold be made in Japan and in Japanese.

I went to look for a place to buy "Blue." Amazon lists it at $40. I don't think I can afford to pay $40 for a CD, even if it is amazing. Anybody know a place to get it a little cheaper?
