This is the talkback thread for "Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection" Vol. 7 Coming in October (http://news.toonzone.net/articles/30648/looney-tunes-spotlight-collection-vol.-7-coming-in-october).

Disappointing. I was hoping the Spotlight Collections would be the new format to release "new to DVD" shorts, but they're just dipping into previous Golden Collections. Pass.

Way to drop the ball, Warner Home Video. The Spotlight Collections would have been a great way to put out 30 more unreleased cartoons a year at a lower price and keep everybody happy, but no, instead you give us a "best of" compilation of material everybody already has.

I tried to remain optimistic about Looney Tunes DVD releases this year, but this isn't helping.

Well this is somewhat surprising. What I mean by that is, I wasn't expecting an announcement of another Looney Tunes DVD set this year, but then again, if we did get any new releases, I probably should've seen this one coming since I've been knowing for a while now that it's Warner Home Video after all. When I first saw the title of this thread, I kept thinking "Yes, so they're actually continuing the Golden Collection series", but then I finally realized I'm mixing up the kind of Looney Tunes collection DVD series. At the Golden Age Cartoon forum, somebody mentioned that this was probably done for all those who can't afford any of the Golden Collection sets if they're on budget and released the featurettes that had already been released on various volumes from the GC onto this upcoming spotlight one. So this is supposed to be somewhat of a good alternate for them, but not others who already have the cartoons that were released on the GC series before.

I have several, other, favorite Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts that still haven't made it to DVD yet that I really want to watch (and obtain) already. But then again, I have one of the Looney Tunes GC DVD sets already that I still haven't gotten around to watching yet (I've been trying to catch up on watching other DVDs), therefore in my case, that actually may not be too bad a thing for me though. I want to catch up on collecting the 5 other sets eventually and I prefer the GC over the SC DVD set, since the former has extras. Once again, it's back to relying on watching the LT/MM shorts on Youtube or some other video site. But the only problem is whoever keeps removing videos that don't deserve to be removed randomly that's a hinderance, which is an annoying pain and horse-squat that this routine still can be done. That's why I was forced to buy a DVD set of the cartoons finally. But at least there are (and hopefully will continue to be) those LT/MM shorts that have been released as bonus features on the mostly non LT/MM anthological, live-action movie DVDs that accompany those. So far, some of those LT/MM shorts that have been released as add-ons also all are from the '30s. Do you or anybody else know if more of them will be added as extras on other live-action movie DVDs soon?
