I'm just wondering if anyone knew whether The Hardy Boys cartoon that was produced by Filmation Animation from 1969-1971, was still being aired somewhere in the Canada or the US, or if there are any plans to release the series on DVD? Or, for that matter, who exactly owns the show (CBS? Paramount? Warner Brothers? Fox?), now that Filmation no longer exists?

I would presume whomever owns the Hardy Boys franchise would have had the rights revert back to them after the show ended.

Off topic, but I never even knew their was a Hardy Boys cartoon. I used to read the books all the time when I was younger.

Yep. Filmation tried to catch lightning in a bottle again by rebooting the Hardys as a part-time rock band in between cases. The late Dallas McKennon had this show on his resume, too.

Entertainment Rights owns this with other Filmation properties.

In the introduction of the show, the band is shown in live action. Did they make caracatures of these people for the cartoon, or did they go out and find people that looked like the characters?

Are you sure? Since other sources that I've looked at say that Entertainment Rights and Classic Media (ER's new owner's) don't own the rights to the show. And to further complicate things there is evidence that Fox had the distribution rights to the show in the 1980's. Of course, the show might be with CBS since CBS owns Simon & Schuster the company that holds the Hardy Boys trademark and copyrights for the books.

Was there ever a Nancy Drew cartoon as well?

No. Had the live-action movie w/Emma Roberts been more successful, maybe they'd have considered it.
