When did Filmation debut the "Lou Scheimer/ Norm Prescott" circle ID in the opening credits, and what was the last show to use it (i believe that gilligans planet debuted the lou scheimer "script" ID)?

The first time the "wheel of producers" (I like to refer this to the credit ID) was used in 1969. It aired at the end of each shows. I've seen this on The Hardy Boys, but I haven't seen this for The Archie Comedy Hour (since it's not on the web yet).

Here's some more trivia about the "wheel of producers"....

In 1974, It began to show during the beginning of the show's credits. It started on Shazam!. It had "Executive Producers" in the middle. This was shown on all of Filmation's live action shows, The Fabulous Funnies, The New Fat Albert Show, Space Sentinels, The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse/Heckle & Jeckle, Flash Gordon, Tarzan, The Super 7, and The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam!. Some times, the credit sequence was shown in yellow.

From 1969-1981, the "wheel of producers" credit (the "produced by" version) showed up either at the beginning or ending of each show. I would say in about the period of 1969-1974, it was at the end of their shows. In 1975-1981, it was shown at the beginning of their shows.

You're correct about Lou's signature in credit debuting on Gilligan's Planet (1982). It was followed by "Directed by Hal Sutherland" (his signature) in credit. This sequence was also on the 1st season of He-Man. On Ghostbusters (1986), it was shown as "Lou Scheimer Execuitve Producer". The script in credit was seen on the remainder of Filmation's catalogue that aired in syndication (1983-1988)

If memory serves me well, the Ghostbusters series was enterely produced by Lou.

I once read in a local Pittsburgh area magazine that the purpose of the circle was to avoid any fighting over who gets top billing.

Didn't Hal Sutherland's signature start to appear in the early 70's, since I know that I've seen it on Star Trek The Animated Series (1974-1975) at the end of the episode.

Trevor, You're correct about the "Directed By Hal Sutherland" credit. I didn't have that in mind when I answered the posted question. That credit (with his signature) debuted in 1970. From 1970-74, that signature credit appeared at the end of Filmation's programs. The updated version debuted in 1982, and stopped in 1984. Hope that clears things up!
