The second season of Ben 10: Alien Force started this morning on local TV network (Nine), and I was surprised to see the episode shown in widescreen.
I initially assumed it was an airing mistake, and the episode should still be full frame. But a quick comparison of the opening sequence shows it is true widescreen, with no vertical cropping, and more shown on both sides.
So was Ben 10: Alien Force always produced for widescreen? or only the second season onwards?
I think it always has been produced in widescreen. Considering both Flapjack and Chowder are too, I would guess that Ben is in widescreen also.

Was the first season of Ben 10: Alien Force actually shown in widescreen anywhere (ie Cartoon Network HD) though?
The main reason I ask, is the first season of Ben 10: Alien Force was only shown full frame (4:3) locally on TV. This local TV network usually always shows animated TV series in widescreen, when available.

Quick question about Alien Force....are they gonna just end up skipping season 3 and just move on to Evolutions? I've been kinda wondering about that...

Contrary to what some people have been believing, CN will air a third season of Alien Force this fall.
The question, though, is if they'll start Evolutions mid-season like they did with the previous two series, or wait until fall 2010. Probably early in the year to hype the whole "2010" gimmick better.

Due to the prevalence of the widescreen/HD format, CN cartoons are produced in widescreen but boarded so that all the characters are kept within a 4:3 range so that for standard TV screens they just chop off some of the BGs and very little of the characters, however, the shows sometimes seem tightly zoomed/staged. I wish they'd just air them and make them in true widescreen though.
