CN REAL
HAR HAR THARSDAYS
TWF SATURDAY CRUSHZONE
THE FLICKS

Highlights:

This week on HHT: New Chowder and Flapjack. Then, Total Drama Action takes on westerns, followed by a new 6teen. Stoked is coming next week, at 8:30pm.
This Wednesday on CN Real: The Othersiders go to a Victorian mansion, an in episode with quite possibly the most redundant title ever. After that, the teens must their way through the forest on Survive This.
Watch new episodes of Pokemon, TSS, Bakugan, Chaotic, and 5D's Saturday mornings on TWF Crushzone.
Slamball premieres weekends at noon, with a repeat Friday at 6pm.
This Saturday on CN Real: Kids compete for cash on a rollercoaster in another episode of Brainrush. Then, actors and athletes build dump trucks. Of doom.
This week on THE FLICKS: The Shaggy Dog (the new Tim Allen one).

While I don't like CN Real, or the fact that the shows have that many reruns either, at least they are reducing the amount of repeat slots these shows get. Besides, I don't believe anyone is being forced to watch it and I feel the best choice, if you don't like the shows that is, is to simply ignore it/do/watch something else.

Anyway, there's a few shows that I'm interested in watching. I'm looking foreword to the new episodes of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, The Secret Saturdays and the blocks of both Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.

Do I see a lot less red here or are my eyes deceiving me? Looks like CN might be backing off a little bit on this, especially since I only notice them reairing shows.

Also this week, one of my favorite Pokemon episode is airing.http://forums.funpiece.com/style_emoticons/default/awesome-1.gif Still don't think I can watch Saturdays in the morning, stupid sleep cycle. As always I'll watch all of HHT as well.

I'll have to watch a Survive This to keep up with the show since I missed this weeks episode. Other than that, I'll be watching Pokémon Diamond and Pearl: Galactic Battles as well as Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's this weel along. I'll watch the July 9th re-run of Survive This since I'll be watching Wipeout when it airs.

38 CN Real Airings, including SlamBall.

That makes it 19 hours of CN Real this week, adding on the live action movie, 21 hours. (MORE Disney films?)

To no surprise of mine, still no Code Lyoko. They still have the rights to air it, and there have been quite a few projects announced, so I don't know why they won't air it. It surely wouldn't hurt to put it in one timeslot, replacing a CNReal rerun slot.

Code Lyoko has as much of a chance of airing on CN as Naruto does of finishing the final 10 episodes, basicly goose egg. Still way too much red on this schedule for my taste, but it seems to be getting better since the first week these shows aired.

Yes, the lack of CNReal airings is a small beacon of hope for those of us who have been opposing this movement since the beginning.

About the second part, 100% co-signed. We might have only had to sit through two fillers, but they felt so terribly drawn out, especially since they came directly after that Barry/Riley/Galactic two parter.

Yeah, if anything I would have been expecting them to reair any episode since I think 3 episodes is enough to run into the ground for any network and not get stale as they could just air the first two episodes instead of their habit of repeating last week's episodes of this CN Real Stuff. I mean I excused the first 2 weeks since they didn't have enough episodes yet, but I rarely noticed if they reaired the first episodes this past week for the CN Real stuff.

Also, I knew you would co-sign on that declaration.;)

This is weird, Why does Disney have rights on Cartoon Network to air (The Shaggy Dog).

Because that movie bombed at the box office and so Disney doesn't care about it. It for this same reason why CN was able to show Operation Dumbo Drop and MVP: Most Valuable Primate.

The only feature films that Disney is willing to lend out to other networks are the turkeys that can barely be traced to them, so don't expect to see Toy Story or High School Musical on The Flicks anytime soon, or ever at all.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise isn't happening either. It's a) too successful, and b) too closely associated with Disney. The movie was inspired by one of their own theme park attractions.

Especially for those who may not approve the CN Real airings, let's hope that after this year's Labor Day weekend, when many kids will return to school, the Cartoon Network weekly schedules will be more diverse and have more animated programs including old favorites like Dexter's Laboratory, and (hopefully) brand-new shows such as Scooby-Doo - Mystery Inc. and Adventure Time.

Dexter's Laboratory has been relegated to Boomerang, and it looks like it's going to stay there for a while. However, I can almost guarantee that Scooby Doo will back on weekday mornings on CN in some way shape or form come the fall.

As was said above, Adventure Time won't be ready to air by Labor Day, and Dexter seems destined to remain on Boomerang, so bang goes that idea.

It'd be interesting if they aired The Wizard on The Flicks. They could have a marathon of video game-related episodes of their shows.

The Wizard, while definitely MST-worthy, is a little too dated to air on a contemporary kids' channel now, I think. In these days when kids are playing XBox 360's and Playstation 3's, the big "mystery game" that was unveiled in The Wizard was Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES. Most kids in CN's current target demographic probably don't even remember the NES, unless they have big brothers or sisters who owned one.

At the most, I could see The Wizard airing on [adult swim] as a goof.

Rho

Super Mario Bros. wouldn't be much of a shocker either.

YogiBR123
07-04-2009, 11:51 PM
I guess that sorta makes sense. After all, CN is mainly aimed at boys 6-11, and since that demographic is interested in video games, albeit dated ones, it won't make the audience go "huh?"

Of course, not everyone in that demographic likes video games, but it's common.

While I'm glad there's less red on the schedule, I don't think it's because Cartoon Network is giving up on the live-action. It's only been 3 weeks, first off. And plus they have more live-action programs premiering later this Summer. I'd like to think it's because they're giving up, but it's more or less just because they don't see a need to massively promote it now that the block has been around for 3 weeks. Once the new shows begin to premiere, the red will begin to clump up again. And if the live-action still fails and then we see less red, I'll feel hopeful.

But then there's those nasty rumors....

That's the only thing that is gaming related on that network. Other than that, they're basically Spike TV lite when it comes to their programming. They don't do anything else as far as gaming culture goes.

Gamers are one of the only "popular" niche without a channel now.

I'm hoping that once CN Real bombs enough times they'll just pull an OOJH and pretend it never existed.

Starting Wednesday, July 15, all CN Real premieres are moving to Wednesday nights. BrainRush and DBD will air from 8-9 and Othersiders & Survive This will move down an hour to 9-10pm.

Good news? IDK, but if you use the "See all airings" function on the CN schedule, the next 2 weeks seem to have less airings of each CN Real show.

So Saturdays are just for reruns or are they airing something else?

Even sweeter news.

I have to wonder why they didn't do this in the first place, though.

Wednesday nights, eh? Not bad, not bad at all.

I agree with chdr, why couldn't CN do it this way in the first place? To me, it makes alot more sense than having two nights of CN Real.

At least I don't have to see the new episode of Brainrush at such a late hour. Feel sorry for The Othersiders and Survive This, though I don't feel TOO sorry for 'em...

I hope there's a new Saturday night block coming!
Since now all of CN Real will be on Wednesdays.
I wonder, if there is going to be one, what would it be?

That means I'll be able to watch Survive This now. Good news for me even though Cartoon Network sould've limited CNReal premiers to one night anyway.

I think Cartoon Network is learning the hard way that 20% live-action and 80% animation just don't mix in a channel designed strictly for animation.

This is how I expected it to be in the first place. Premieres on Wednesday and encores Saturdays.
I guess they realized that having BrainRush and Destroy, Build, Destroy compete against new iCarly and True Jackson was a BAD idea.

Next step: Cancel all four of the shows, decide against premiering these other shows, Snyder fired

Next step: Cancel all four of the (CNReal) shows, decide against premiering these other shows, Snyder fired

If only it were that simple.

Even though by all appearances CNReal is tanking, it's unlikely that the Suits are going to back off of non-animated programming that quickly or easily. If the Hindenburg crash that was Out of Jimmy's Head (which was cartoonier than all of the CNReal shows combined) wasn't enough to convince CN that live-action on their network was a bad idea, then they're not likely to abandon these non-animated programs any faster.

Also, there's still a little thing called contractual obligation. Even if CNReal turns out to be a bigger bomb than Nagasaki, CN is still required to let these shows burn through their remaining episodes, even if means placing them in some graveyard time slot like early mornings or weekend afternoons. CN gradually phasing out Real is more likely to happen than them just dropping all of the shows like hot bricks in one jump.

As for Snyder, I know a lot of people here want his head on a plate, but the truth is that CN's live-action movement started long before he arrived on the scene. I know Snyder makes a great scapegoat but I doubt that he'll get the boot for this. The whole network is to blame for the direction it's been taking ever since 2005. The Snyder regime is just the latest nail in the coffin. The advent of live-action on Cartoon Network is NOT solely the doing of Stuart Snyder, and he shouldn't have to be only one expected to take the fall for it.

Also, Cartoon Network has already made more changes to next week's schedule:

- Movies are back each morning at 11am
- More Teen Titans, Ben 10, EEE airings
- Billy & Mandy is back, Thu from 3-4pm
- DBD and BrainRush are the only CN Real shows getting replays thoughout the week, Othersideres & Survive This only have new eps Wed from 9-10pm (no other airings as of now)

So, from the looks of it, Cartoon Network knows CN Real isn't working.

You can view the schedule I have posted for next week, here:
http://nickschedules.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cn2009&action=display&thread=5120
(note only Mon-Thu is up on the CN schedule page, so expect more Fri-Sun changes to come in the next couple days)

I doubt that we'll see any channel air the Super Mario Brothers movie un-ironically.

Actually, Disney Channel used to air the Super Mario Brothers movie all the time back about 10 years ago...

Considering that Mario is still pretty popular with kids, I wouldn't be surprised to see CN air it at some point. The Wizard obviously won't, since the main drive behind that is the NES, but Mario is still out there.

I guess kids didn't like kiddy versions of Ghost Hunters and Survivor Man. Destroy Build Destroy and Brainrush seem to be the good shows out of all this, hopefully they'll go to another network after CN burns through their episodes, since they're alright shows, but they just don't belong on CN.

Maybe this is a small step in CN realizing that kids don't care if a show is live action or animated, if the show sucks, then it sucks.

Now if we can just keep moving in the direction in which there is no live action on cartoon network at all. Nice to see Teen Titans back on the network though. That was a good show.

I'm not counting on miracles to happen for CN. Pulling this CN Real nonsense is going to be the last straw for a lot of kids.

But then I'm not dumb enough to watch any of it.

This is weird, Why does Disney have rights on Cartoon Network to air (The Shaggy Dog).

At Least It's Better Than Airing Son Of The Mask Over and Over Again.
