Way to go Dree! She avoided those traps like a pro but it was only a matter of time until she got caught like the others, good team work in this episode though. I loved the scene between Zack and Abbey though, "It could have been something", "No, your 11". Classic.

So Abbey was Van Rook new apprentice all along? To quote Johnny Test "I didn't see that coming". Evil and hot, truly a deadly combination.
I like how Doc and Doyle were interacting with each other. I lol at how Doc love Doyle heat seeking idea. Anyway good episode.

I hope not many people missed this one because of the time change. It i hard to get up at 8: 30 am on Saturday Morning, and they started it at 8:29 or something, I missed the opening.

Anyway, this is another great enstallment, the show is on a roll. I can't remember when the last bad episode of SS aired. Jay Stephens, you should be proud.

Is just me or did Van Roc go from evil genious villain to typial idiot villain in a few seconds. He had an genious trap, work to perfection, all he had to do was have them shot, and mission accomplish. But no, he had to get all fancy. Don't this villains watch the old Batman live action show, and learn from those mistakes? Or maybe it was the idea of those mysterious benefactors. I know two villains that would pay to have the Saturdays killed, the other villains aren't very rich.

I wonder how much is Van Roc paying Abby?, it has to be a lot. Which is inconsident with Van Roc, because he is a penny penching cheap sake. I guess he must really be pissed off, that he overlooked his cheap instincts. And why did Abby help them out last week, I guess she wasn't on the clock, and she can do anything she wants on her free time, and if she wants to help them, that is her proactive. I bet if Abby does "complete the job", Van Roc stiffs her.

Wow, this episode rocked hard as there were more twists and turns in it then most TSS Episodes already had..

When we first jump in, we have a logging company doing some (illegal) logging on Federal land, then comes the big shocker.. Doyle and Abbey are DATING??!!! Okay didn't see that one coming!

Then we have the Allegewi, A Fierce cryptid that is supposedly huge (Say on the order of at least 25 feet tall) that really is a powerhouse.. and it makes ugly look good.

But then we have the family get set up and the person who gets the finger pointed at? Doyle..(Dang Van Rook's New Apprentice is really.. ABBEY?? Okay Now we really DIDN'T See that one coming!)

So then why did she do it? For the money.. (of course it's funny that there's this ongoing theme with Brunette haired women and evil (Does Abbey remind me of another evil woman who was voiced by Nicole Sullivan? (who now does Drew Saturday?))

I mean why is it that evil comes in the form of a brunette haired woman?

And then we get to the good parts.. Zak and the gang having to deal with Abbey, and her antics.. but in the end we have Doyle who is about to leave but then Zak stops him from leaving saying that he's part of the family now..

Man no wonder this show keeps getting better. It seems that once you think things can't get any more twisted, the show goes off on the next tangent and you get a new surprise. (and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Abbey and her evil ways).

and yes Zak, You're only 11..(But again do I smell an alternate twisted fan fiction here? Oy.. My head hurts..

But all in all a fun romp.. but like they said earlier this year.. didn't see that one coming.. and this episode didn't disappoint, especially in the "Didn't see that one coming" department.

A+ for the great mix of action, comedy, and those unexpected twists.

Well, Abbey and Doyle dating, I did see coming, as well as Zak's schoolboy crush on her. Someone in the Kur Guardian thread predicted it, and I can't remember who, but whoever you are, you called it, congratulations.

I thought that this was an awesome episode. I was surprised to see Abby at the beginning of this episode, but playing the video game with Doyle was really cute. I laughed so hard when he faked her out with saying that they should get married. They looked really cute as a couple and Zak's reaction it was nicely done as well. Zak's reaction to a land line phone was nice too.

So, Abby is the new apprentice for Van Rook? Wow. I did not see that coming at all. That was a big twist out of left-field for me too. It was hard to believe that she would sell them out for money, especially since she was being so nice and helpful in the last episode. Though, Zak saying that they could have been something, if he was in an alternate universe, was so funny. I liked how Doc and Doyle were bonding a bit while being chased by the creature and I would love to see a Doc and Doyle working together kind of episode too. I was so glad that Doyle didn't leave again at the end of the episode. I understood that he felt bad about losing Abby, but I agreed with Zak that he didn't have to deal with it all by himself. He is a part of the family now and they love him, which I thought was sweet. I wonder how they'll handle her the next time they meet up.

Overall, an excellent episode once again. I think that Mr. Stephens and the entire cast and crew have done a terrific job with the series. I can't remember the last time I watched a show with this many twists and turns episode after episode. I'm so looking foreword to the next new episode next Saturday.

I admit that the scene in which she claimed that she was “attacked” by that logger was somewhat suspicious, but I don’t see how anybody could have figured out that she was one of the “bad guys” and Van Rook’s apprentice. It wasn’t like the episode was full of hidden clues that could let the audience figure it out before it was revealed.

Abby noooo! How could you. And stuff. lol Okay, enough of that. I still enjoy her. I have to say the mask made me smirk a bit when she put it on. She's a pretty darn good actor, I must say. I was suspecting the logger guy had something to do with the setting up, too. Turns out he didn't.

Poor Zon! Hope that heals up fast. :crying:

Am the only one who was slightly disturbed (and yet laughing kinda) at the way that one wire trap got Drew? XD Seems like that could have...hurt.

- Best tree ride ever. Reminded me of the Japanese log riding festival thing they have. lol Only much more dangerous! I think. Because it went off a cliff and all.

- "Hurt him extra!" lol Disguntled Van Rook. I was kind of hoping to see him actually appear, but guess he only made a little cameo. The bolos coming out of the woods got my hopes up that he was there.

- Doyle: "Oops. Guess I tripped." XD Well, she deserved that.

- Doc and Doyle bonding time. Yay!

And then Abby doing the fakeout sacrifice thing. Ha, I kind of was expecting her to show back up like that...and she did! That was one dramatic escape.

Fun episode!

Now to wait for the next episode which I reaaaally wanna see. Atlas Pin, Atlas Pin...*waiting eagerly*

Awesome. Glad we were able to surprise you. I have a feeling we've got a few more like these up our sleeves that'll work, too! As for motivations... I hope we've been giving viewers a sense that 'good' and 'evil' aren't always so clearly defined, and that some characters exist in a 'gray' area that allows them to turn on friends or enemies for their own personal reasons. 'Good' characters will continue to occasionally do 'bad' things on our show, and vice versa.

And as far as the new schedule goes, I don't pretend to know why CN does what they do. I just cross my fingers and hope that the show is still available on the network at all.

I also think that's a good observation. Doyle probably can see some of his old self in Abby, especially since he was Van Rook's apprentice just for the money as well. The combination of that and the fact that he really did like Abby causes Doyle quite a bit of emotional pain. Of course, the ending with Doyle staying with his family, instead of going off on his own again, has some emotional healing, or at least the start to it, as well.

You're dead right, of course. What bothers Doyle the most is that he and Abbey are a lot alike-- greedy, uncaring, and fiercely independent-- and the only reason Doyle hasn't gone rogue again himself is his new-found family.

This may be a touchy question.

this may or not be an official CN BS&P issue, but from what I've seen in action cartoons on CN, men aren't allowed to hit women regardless of the circumstances, though the converse isn't always true. It seems to me, if a final confrontation between Van Rook and Abbey and the Saturdays went down, Doyle would probably want to call out Abbey for a one-on-one fight.

But if that actually IS a rule, it can't happen, and Doyle does seem like the kind of guy who believes in equality of the sexes, shall we say.

If this were to happen, would CN require you to have Drew take on Abbey, since she's the only female amongst the major protagonists?

"It's not personal -- it's money."

Oh yes. Abbey's heel turn (gotta love the wrestling slang) was quite a shock. But come to think of it, we already have a smokin' hot lady on the side of good, so I guess the villains needed one as well(sorry, Naga).

Her betrayal was handled beautifully; the apprentice mask, the deadly British accent, the heartache caused to poor Doyle. It's fascinating how Abbey is the symmetrical opposite of Doyle -- a heroine and trusted friend who became rotten and greedy. Definitely can't wait to see how this'll play out in the episodes leading to the big Kur finale. The potential is there for Abbey to redeem herself -- she did save Zak and Doyle at the end; she even confessed that her feelings for Doyle were genuine -- but who knows what'll actually happen? Only Jay and his writers can decide; whatever they do, I'm sure it'll be as compelling as everything else about this excellent series.

As usual, the character interactions are pitch perfect. Zak pining for Abbey even after her betrayal; Van Rook's intercom cameo (the guy is so shamelessly slimy I can't help but laugh); and especially the moment of friendship between Doc and Doyle. These two are quite a duo; I agree that there needs to be a future episode in which their love/hate relationship drives the story. There's so much comedic (and dramatic) potential begging to be mined there.

It almost seems as if The Secret Saturdays can do no wrong at this point. Honestly, I would offer blunt criticism if there was anything I disliked. TSS has completely nailed it's premise and atmosphere, resulting in consistent and sturdy episodes that are always exciting, always fresh, and NEVER disrespects the characters nor the audience. It's exactly what I look for in a TV series, cartoon or live-action.

Ooh, interesting. I guess I should just give up on trying to figure things out because honestly I have no idea what twists and turns will pop until they get there. lol I'll just wait patiently.

Me either...and you're not the only one who hopes that, Mr. Stephens. :(

I wonder if Dr. Miranda will pop up and maybe try to knock some sense into Abby. If family intervention worked for Doyle then maybe she's got a chance to get back on the good side the same way?

This may be a touchy question.

this may or not be an official CN BS&P issue, but from what I've seen in action cartoons on CN, men aren't allowed to hit women regardless of the circumstances, though the converse isn't always true.

I know nothing about CN's standards and practices regarding the Saturdays of the hitting of ladies but I seem to have seen a lot of the gals taking non-hits sometimes like being violently thrown into stuff, or something. I remember Dr. Miranda getting tossed across the room and into a wall pretty hard by Munya in Kur Stone Part 1. Not a hit, but still damage. Okay, so he's a bad guy and all, but still. Throwing still seems to be an option.

Maybe Doyle can use non-violent combat skills to make Abby think twice about that backstabbery.

You forgetting the snake lady.

If it's not the inhuman characters getting past the radar with violence, then I think there might even be a slight loophole in the size/strength portion of that no beating on the gals rule anyway. She's female, but she's also a lot bigger and pretty strong as evident of the fight in Kur Guardian. And she kinda started it anyway. XD

You are right for the most part, since two humans fighting seems to be a bit of a problem, but if they were like 2 animals or robots, you can get away with a lot.

That does seem like it these days. I could mention something about that with the recent Transformers movie having just seen it, but seeing as how that's irrelevant to the topic, I'm not gonna.

But Doyle admitted, he's a kicky-punchy kind of guy. :)

I'm sure Doyle can also be a throwy-tossy or trippy-trappy kinda guy if he wanted to. lol Or perhaps he could wow everyone and just give his opponent a very stern talking to. :D

Well, saw the episode, and I still can't believe that Abbey betrayed them, and still plans to. But man, that Cryptid was scary, especially the fact that it wanted to hunt down the gang. Man, glad they were able to find a way to outsmart it.

Also I knew Zak's crush on Abbey would come into play, from his jealousy from Doyle hanging out with it being obvious. Hell, he even manned up and admitted it to Abbey to the point he got REJECTED and all because of the BETRAYAL!!!

Well, we've been exiled to Saturday mornings (which isn't so bad. And it's not like we were the only show), we aren't mentioned in the Nick Mag promo book that CN just did (everything else is. Everything but us.), and we aren't on the schedule for the ComicCon, all of which sounds like bad news. A lack of confidence, perhaps? Or maybe CN is just counting on the merchandise about to be released to act as promos for the series?

Hate to act the salesman, but if you love the show, the best thing you could do is try and scrape together enough dough to buy just one Saturdays toy, game, book, or Tshirt. It's the only way CN will be encouraged to renew us for more episodes, I'm afraid.

Yeah, Batman Brave and Bold seems to have ended up there, too. Which is about the only other action show besides the Sats I was following, although not as hard.

:( I hope CN isn't pushing you under the rug. I too was wondering if they were gonna go by merchandise sales or something...I sure hope it does well, then.

I'm not just gonna buy one or two, I plan on buying a lot! Sadly, I am still only one person but I know there's others who'll rush out to snatch up Sats goods, too. I just hope there's more than a handful of us all. T_T

Isn't the actual merchandise supposed to be hitting store shelves sometime this month? Or the toy line, at least.

I sort of planned to do that with Chowder and Flapjack myself, but I think I can squeeze in some Secret Saturday stuff, just as long as it is the game and toys, since I don't think the shirts will be for someone my size.

I also read that The Secret Saturdays does fairly well on Saturday mornings, ratings wise, so maybe the move could be good for the show.

I was already thinking of getting The Secret Saturdays video game since I think the show is so cool. Now, I have an even better reason to buy the game.

It's ok. I'm already trying to help the cause. I preordered the new video game and I am asking for a fire sword for my birthday. They worst part is that I'm turning 14 and my parents are beggin me to get off cartoons. And I was just about to. Until the Secret Saturdays.:p

You are never too old for cartoons.
(And besides, I'm 19 in the fall)

Speaking of which, gonna tell my friends to buy me anything TSS related when my birthday comes around. It's fitting seeing as how my last birthday was when the show started. :)

And I hope to buy the first dvd when it drops- another of my favorite shows comes out a week later, it'll be a doozy. :D Here's hoping I can get the video game when it comes out as well...

You guys are the best. Thanks!

And I agree with that 'never too old for cartoons' statement. I mean, look at me-- I'm 38 and love cartoons so much I MAKE 'em!

Yo Jay Stephens, have you ever thought of working with Cartoon Network Studios to find a way to do an episode or movie where the Secret Saturdays meet Hanna-Barbera's the Herculoids? They are very similar and could be a event!

Kenny
