A bible is a tv show term. It is a outline of the main characters and the premese of the show, etc.

They probably sent some excerpts to Teletoon, which has a lot of information about the show on its website.

CN usually combines a whole season's worth of credits and uses that set for each episode rather than airing that episode's proper end credits, so Kari Wahlgren may or may not have voiced a character in this episode.

As for Naga (the snake woman), she was voiced by Susan Blakeslee in "Once More the Nightmare Factory," so I assume she provided the voice for her in this episode, too.

Jay Stephens
06-20-2009, 02:16 AM
Yup. Susan does the voices of Nagi Rani (which translates as 'Queen Naga') and Dr. Miranda Grey, Kari does Abbey Grey. Both, as if I have to say it, totally awesome. I LOVE our cast.

And, yes indeed, Komodo was the first official cryptid to join the Saturday clan. He is much more of a 'dog' to the family than Fisk is-- Fisk is simply too humanoid in his behaviour to be considered anything less than a 'brother' to Zak. A huge kid brother! Zon's personality is more like that of a horse. Skittish, wild, and kept out of the house.

Okay, where to start ...

Little Zak was, of course, adorable.

I wonder how Doc and Drew are gonna take the news about Fiskerton ... and the fact that Doyle lied to them about the training exercise, though it must be admitted, Zak learned a heck of a lot!

I'm kind of hoping we see Abbey again, just so she can mess with Doyle. "Bad idea ... to leave ... without saying hi to ... girl." So much for Mr. Smooth and Cool.

Remember kiddies, as long as she's ugly and a reptilian, it is perfectly fine to beat down girls. :p

lol Well, she did kind of start it. She was trying to beat on them first.

I have to third or forth (or whatever we're on now) the love for little Zak (so CUTE!) and Abbey. She's so cool. Little Zak doing karate on the bed...lol

I must say I love the cast, too. XD They're so awesome with all the voicing.

lol I thought it looked like when Komodo first came at Fisk, it looked like he was almost trying to bark. Silly komodo dragon! I love Komodo, though. Now I'm also kinda laughing at the Zon = horse personality. I love Zon too, but she does seem a tad bit wild.

The battle between Fisk, Doyle, Zak, and Rani Nagi (or is it interchangeable? Nagi Rani/Rani Nagi, or doesn't matter?) was great. She's scary when she's trying to attack people. Fisk swinging her by tail and then tossing her out the hole in the wall was just the "LOL, YES!" moment of my day again. Fisk is awesome.

Are we going to see more details of maybe how Doc got that scar and bad eye eventually? It's making me curious now.

(I also wonder if Abbey's going to become the fist fangirl-loathed character now because of her and Doyle...XD Oh boy.)

Oops, I just remembered more I wanted to say now: Doyle's talk of his being brought up as a punk thug/to crooked mercenary. Poor Doyle. :(

At least he reformed after meeting his family and turned out to be a neat good guy. Well, with somewhat wreckless tendencies, but still.

Okay, this was an awesome episode. I actually wondered how this show could continue to be so wonderful with these new episodes after I finished watching it last night. First, baby Zak is downright adorable. I had a feeling he would be cute, but it's like I want to just hug him. And the way that he was treating Fisk even back then was just so sweet. Abby was really nice female character and I thought that Zak's crush on her was pretty cute. I liked how she had all of this knowledge on ancient cultures.

I thought that Doyle was totally awesome in this episode. Not only did he have hilarious lines, but the way he was expressing his life story to the talking stone made him look even cooler to me. I thought that the fight with the snake woman was pretty good. I was so glad that it turned out that Fisk guards the world from Kur, instead of protecting Kur. They did a really good job on making it sound like they were there to protect Kur. I was glad that both Doc and Drew would be in on Fisk's secret. I wouldn't be surprised if they would be upset at Doyle for not telling them, but Fisk was too nervous to let his secret out for awhile. Doyle getting a date at the end was a funny way to end the episode.

Overall, it was an awesome episode. I loved the way that the story picked up and it really does look like it's picking up steam with the Kur storyline. Awesome work to Mr. Stephens and the entire cast and staff for making this series. I'm so looking foreword to seeing what the next new episode has in store for these characters.

I know that the locations in this episode (The Library At Alexandria, The Sphinx, and Shangri-La) are fairly traditional, if not typical, adventure settings, but you know we had to do it eventually! I mean, The Secret Saturdays are nothing if not capital 'A' Adventure heroes, and Adventure heroes always end up in Egypt. Abbey being a 'cryptoarcheologist' specializing in Lost Civilizations gave us the perfect excuse.

I know we revealed a lot of secrets in this one, but don't worry. There are plenty more shocking revelations to come in future episodes...

And I promise you will get to see EXACTLY how Doc got that nasty eye wound in the next season, coming this Fall.

We're already in post-production on the second season, meaning most of the episodes are already in the process of being animated overseas (in Korea, to be exact). Ten more episodes after the initial 26. And it'll blow your minds!

Keep your fingers crossed for a season 3...

And since you asked, the Lemurian head was a psychically activated stone idol that contained the ancient knowledge of the Lemurian race, and spoke directly to their minds (which is why we could 'hear' it in English). Sort of like a mystical computer. Only a true Lemurian could activate it.

Did I miss something or did the Naga appeared out of nowhere

dose she live there if not how'd she follow them

Jay Stephens
06-21-2009, 12:40 AM
The general idea is that she knew where they would inevitably end up. It makes sense if you think about it. She mentioned that Fisk was a Lemurian right in front of him (plainly establishing that she has knowledge of Lemurians) and then saw him escape. She knew Fisk would have to follow that trail when he decided to investigate his past. If you look closely at the ruins of Shangri-La, you'll see the ancient Lemurian carvings have been defaced with serpent graffitti. Nagas had been there before.

You really hate the Naga, don't you, warnerbroman?

I have a weird question, Mr. Stephens.

Have you and/or your staff actually made a translation map of any sort for 'Fisk-speak', or does Mr. Bader just mosey up to the mic and start making noises? You know, like certain sounds he makes translate to English? I'd swear I'm getting to the point I can understand him even when someone doesn't echo his speech like that one episode in Louisiana.

Zak: "Fisk, hammer throw, but straight up!"
Fisk: "Ooby zu ba dabwa?"
Zak: "YES, I want you to catch me after!"

Fisks' lines are written out in the scripts in English, like, "That's so cool!" and Diedrich ad-libs the way it would sound in 'Fisk-speak', making it sound like "Dazoh goo!". He comes up with those sounds all on his own, which is why we love him! And, yeah, I think he's found certain grunts and growls that mean certain things, but it's all in Diedrichs' head. Well I was outta my house (On a trip) but I did manage to catch the episode in question and I have to say is "Wow" this definitely was a big step upwards in the storyline.

First we have Fiskerton as we seen him before he joined the Saturdays. (and I can see why some of the English folk hated him.)

Then there's young Zak (I would say that at least he was 2 and at most 5 years of age) but that kid was cute even then.

Then comes all the great things this show has to offer.. Like the Cover story for the Library of Alexandria and Shangra-La. I mean when you tie in the mythos this well, you have to say that this show explores everything possible.

And then there's Abbey.. Sure Zak is crushing on her, but then who'd ever expect a babysitter to be so hardcore kickbutt and who could take on a snake woman like a Marine. Can we also say that Abbey now falls just second behind Drew Saturday in um.. hotness..

Doyle? He's the perfect comedic foil in this episode and I laughed as here he was trying to impress Abbey with a little bit of his own info.

And Naga Rani (Queen Naga), definitely was a perfect villain foil..

In all this episode definitely did NOT disappoint. It was fully of comedy, action, and dare I say it, Adventure.

A+ Kudos to you Jay for really giving the fans what they want and the Secret Saturdays doesn't disappoint.

Anyway I loved the episode and thought this was an excellent blend of the three things that makes this show what it is.. Just great.

Jay, I just want to thank you and your crew for creating what is IMO the best Cartoon Network original show since Foster's. If only more of today's cartoons had the top-notch writing, animation, character development and pure vision of this gem...

This was another great episode as I've come to expect. It succeeds both as a touching glimpse into the past (Zak's childhood and Fiskerton joining the family) and as thrilling, action-packed setup for the future and forthcoming climax. Not to mention the smokin' hot babysitter and her hilarious banter with Doyle ("Like a hurricane, baby!"). It has everything I've come to love about this show: action, adventure, comedy and heart.

I eagerly anticipate the final episodes in the Kur Stone arc as well as the 10 episodes following that. And hopefully it'll be renewed beyond that; CN needs more high-quality original animated programming like The Secret Saturdays, instead of all these cheap live-action reality show knock-offs.

Technically, Zak is still in his childhood. He's only 11; legally, he's considered a child until he's 18. It's not like present-day Zak is a full-grown man; the flashback was to his early childhood. (Sorry, taking the nitpicking glasses off now.)

After rewatching the episode on CN Video. I got to say that this was a very good episode. Backstory to Fisk, I co-sign young Zak being cute, Also yay for Abby, now we have a chick for Doyle and Zak to rival for her affection:). Also kind of surprised to see a Young Doc, I mean grey hair and both eyes in tact. Sorry, it's still a surprise.

My favorite part was the temple scene where Fisk's role was reveal, especially the fight scene. All in all, I await more episodes of everyone past.

What rivalry? Zak is a kid. I highly doubt Abbey is going to seriously consider forging a relationship with an 11-year-old. There are laws against that sort of thing. A rivalry only exists in Zak's mind.

Keep your fingers crossed for a season 3...

YES! *crosses all fingers and toes*

I'm kind of distressed a little over the talk on the other sections about the loss of YAH and stuff, but I guess people are just angrily hurling rants that may or may not come true and I shouldn't take any of it too seriously...well, until it seems like it's gonna happen. I just hope CN doesn't can any of its really awesome cartoons before they get further along into other seasons. That would upset me greatly. :(

lol Mr. Bader's 'Fiskish'! Or should we call it 'Fiskenese'?

Man, I wish I could see that someday. :) Diedrich doing a recording session, not you wetting your pants, I mean.

XD Actually, I would love to see the cast doing a recording session, too. I like seeing voice actors behind the scenes.

I have to ask one more question now. How old is Doyle? Twenties? Younger? I'm bad at age estimates.

Ash was actually not voiced by a girl, but by a woman, Veronica Taylor, in the original dub. And Ash has always sounded like a female impersonating a boy to me, but that's just my ear.

And currently she is voiced by Sarah Natochenny, who is almost a girl at 21 but still doesn't count. She's also more convincing at voicing a boy than Taylor, IMO, after some growing pains.

What rivalry? Zak is a kid. I highly doubt Abbey is going to seriously consider forging a relationship with an 11-year-old. There are laws against that sort of thing. A rivalry only exists in Zak's mind.

http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp160/Daxdiv/wolfcastle.gifThat's the joke. What do you think I was hinting at.;) I know that's illegal for someone her age to go after Zak. It was a joke/reference to how some little kids see this older guy that their crush really likes in shows like these. I know it is one sided on Zak part, but still doesn't mean that Zak sees it as a challenge.

ya thats true well anmyway i cant wait to see what kur looks like i htink something like that beast in the theme on at the end of it but i look put kur on wiki it said kur was
In Sumerian mythology (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Sumerian_mythology), Kur was primarily a mountain or mountains, and usually referred to the Zagros (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Zagros) mountains to the east of Sumer (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Sumer). The cuneiform for "kur" was a pictograph of a mountain[1] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-0) It can also mean "foreign land". Although the word for earth was Ki (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Ki), Kur came to also mean land, and Sumer (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Sumer) itself, was called "Kur-gal" or "Great Land". "Kur-gal" also means "Great Mountain" and is a metonym for both Nippur (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Nippur) and Enlil (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Enlil) who rules from that city.[2] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-1) Ekur (http://forums.toonzone.net/w/index.php?title=Ekur&action=edit&redlink=1), "mountain house" was the temple of Enlil (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Enlil) at Nippur (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Nippur). A second, popular meaning of Kur was "underworld", or the world under the earth.[3] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-2)
Kur was sometimes the home of the dead[4] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-3),it is possible that the flames on escaping gas plumes in parts of the Zagros mountains would have given those mountains a meaning not entirely consistent with the primary meaning of mountains and an abode of a god. The eastern mountains as an abode of the god is popular in Ancient Near Eastern mythology.
The underworld Kur is the void space between the primeval sea (Abzu (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Abzu)) and the earth (Ma (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Ma_(mythology))).
Kur is almost identical with "Ki-gal", "Great Land" which is the Underworld (thus the ruler of the Underworld is Ereshkigal (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Ereshkigal) "Goddess of The Great Land". In later Babylonian myth Kur is possibly an Anunnaki (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Anunnaki), brother of Ereshkigal (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Ereshkigal), Enki (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Enki), and Enlil (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Enlil). In the Enuma Elish (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Enuma_Elish) in Akkadian (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Akkadian) tablets from the first millennium B.C.E., Kur is part of the retinue of Tiamat (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Tiamat), and seems to be a snakelike dragon. In one story the slaying of the great serpent Kur results in the flooding of the earth[5] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-4). A first millennium cylinder seal shows a fire-spitting winged dragon--a nude woman between its wings--pulling the chariot of the god who subdued it, another depicts a god riding a dragon, a third a goddess[6] (http://forums.toonzone.net/#cite_note-5).
KUR, as a word, can also refer to a variety of other things. Cuneiform (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Cuneiform) KUR historically means "mountain" but came to refer to "land" in general and as a determiner is placed before the name of a state or kingdom (see also URU (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Cities_of_the_Ancient_Near_East)). The Assyrian (http://forums.toonzone.net/wiki/Akkadian_language) pronunciation is mât. but i dont know this is what i read

We've never pinned it down precisely, but he's around 27 or 28 years old.

The only one of the parents' parents who something "happened" to were Drew's, and that was already revealed; they were lost in an avalanche. Just because a characters' parents haven't appeared on camera doesn't mean that something bad happened to them.

If there are any special circumstances involving Doc's parents, they have yet to be revealed. Perhaps next season.

I don't know about Doc's but Drew's were well... it never actually stated they were killed, but they disappeared in the mountains.

I LOVED baby Zak!!! I hope we get more flashbacks from when Zak was little in the next season!

Women do do a lot of young boy voices in cartoons. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I personally have always had a fondness for Tara Strong. lol She does great boys, cute little girls and cool women. And for boy voices I adore from Japan, I've always enjoyed Junko Takeuchi.

Thanks! Wow, I was kind of off. I would have said 20-22.

I feel bad that I'm asking yet another question but if it can be answered, when exactly did Doyle meet up with Van Rook to become his apprentice? It kinda seems like nobody'd really want to stand to be his apprentice for too long. LOL

Whew. I was finally able to watch the episode today.
I must say, this is one of the best episodes yet. I practically wet my pants! We got to see a lot about Fisk's history (also cute younger Zak), we met Zak's old babysitter (who I liked very much), and all those locations. This plot is getting so thick you'd have to slice through.

Bravo, Mr. Stephens. Bravo.http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/happy/happy0030.gif

I don't have a problem with Ms. Taylor's boy voice; I actually enjoy it. There's just no mistaking the fact that it's a woman and not an actual boy. Same deal with Tara Strong's boy voice; it definitely sounds like a woman impersonating a boy, but I still enjoy the voice.

Me too, she has amazen range, hard to believe she started as a child voice over actress.

Tara and Kath Souce are very similar, in the ranch they can do. Only differences are Tara's boy voices are much better, and Kath seductive grown woman are just a bit better.
