From the creators of Mike Judge (Bevis and Butthead, King of the Hill) comes another fan favorite that has yet to surface on TV since it's censored version on The N, comes Daria, the bespeckled snarky teenager with all that social and political commentary. Mike Judge is apparently is happy with AS's decision to include Daria in their lineup;

I am so glad Daria has made it on AS lineup, it was the closest thing to anime I ever did ( though I've been told it is comparable to As Told By Ginger on acid). I cannot wait to stop working, and with two of my favorite shows now airing with all those William Street productions, it's good to see some new material on that block.

I personally am excitcited. I was pretty young when Daria first came on, and since it was never released except for on VHS this is a great opportunity to see this show unedited. :)

This is a huge move for AS. :)

Wow, AS is really piling on the cancelled comedies. I like Daria, but come on. I want new material, not stuff recycled from other networks.

Plus, IMO, Daria's a bit dated.

Quick question, is there anybody syndicating it?

(silence)

Exactly.

I never gave the show a chance, so this is perfect.

Daria is the one Mike Judge show I've been able to get into but seriously, Daria has not aged that well due to the rapidly-changing nature of social and political satire. Watching it now does not have the same effect of watching it for the first time on MTV (especially as the rights to most of the pop songs have to have expired by now).

I want Adult Swim to be trying new stuff, but I have a sinking feeling that originals (as well as anime) are being phased out in favor of acquired cancelled comedies. I don't want AS to become just an edgier Nick At Nite. That's not what AS stands for.

Wow! AS is in love with Mike Judge's cartoons. Daria is a neat choice, but didn't it controlled by Viacom?

Can [adult swim] handle another series made for epople with an IQ higher than 75?

With this and King of the Hill, [as] is getting closer to watchable again.

*hopes that AS picks up Wonder Showzen*

I dunno how AS pulled it off. However, I have a feeling that Viacom is just sick of the property at this point. After the N treated the show like dirt (and caused some major fan outcry) I guess Viacom just shrugged and threw it away like they did with 6teen when Nick treated it like dirt.

I'll tune in just for nostaglia but I want new originals and new anime.

YES! If AS keeps getting good acquisitions like this soon it may be good as it was in the early days again! Now hopefully Beavis & Butthead isn't far behind!:p hey a man can dream!

But yea deffinantly a plus for AS!
(now only if we could get some new anime!)

From the fact that MTV2 still airs it time to time in mini-marathons, doubt it.

I'm calling BS on this for a couple of reasons:

1. The website link doesn't work at all. There's no mikejworld.com, mikejworld.net, or anything of that nature.

2. Mike Judge didn't work on Daria. At all. He created the character, but Daria the series is a whole other beast created by a whole other group of talented people meaning this so-called quote:

I am so glad Daria has made it on AS lineup, it was the closest thing to anime I ever did ( though I've been told it is comparable to As Told By Ginger on acid).utter and total bullscat.

3. Daria has as much a chance of being on Adult Swim as Spongebob Squarepants. Which is none at all.

I call shenanigans and bullscat on the whole thing.

Er, Mike Judge didn't work on Daria. The character herself was just a recurring character on Beavis and Butt-head. The show was created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn.

But as for how this is airing on AS, I too am surprised. How did they get Viacom to let them air it? Viacom has been ultra protective of their properties, especially after they sold Doug to Disney.

Edit: Jeff Harris beat me to it.

Unless this is confirmed (and that phony website is suspect), I'm closing this to prevent confusion and mis-information.
