Last time: Ichigo meets a new mysterious transfer student named Hirako Shinji who wields a Zanpakuto and has strange abilitys.. meanwhile Kon is attacked by the old hollow Grandfisher who seaks revenge on Ichigo for his last defeat and mistakens Kon for him. Meanwhile.. Ishida got attack by a hollow but then...

Today: Things shall be revealed.. to those in battle.

Let's see if I can do this with the show being double premires.

Last Time: Everything seem to be back to normal as Ichigo & his three friends resume their lives. A new studentup with blonde hair named Shinji shows up. Those filler mod souls finally leave. Kon takes Ichigo's bod out and gets attacked by Grand Fisher. Ichigo finds out Shinji has the same powers as him. Uyru is attacked by a hollow aswell and gets bailed by his... Father?!?!

My bad, I was thinking of the hightest level of an Arrancar, not the Arrancar itself. He is an Arrancar, but not a special Arrancar.

The names of these groups have finally been said, Vizards and the Arrancars. One more left.

The Arrancars and the Vizards (I don't care how Viz spells it, this one is easier to remember) are opposites, yet they are the same. A combination of Soul Reaper and Hollow.

This overall would've been a pretty good episode if it weren't for the Kon chase taking up a huge chunk of it. Ichigo's father being a Soul Reaper really was a heck of a plot twist, though. Thankfully no one blabbed off or hinted about that one. That explains quite a bit... was always slightly annoyed that Ichigo just happened to have so much power for the hell of it.

Truly awesome episode for Cool Father's Day:D,

The highlights:

Poor Uryu/Kon on the run by Menos-type powered Hollows/Grand Fisher.
Ryuken is my next favorite villain:evil:(close to Aizen/Jin),being the heartless jerkoff of a father to tell his poor son the "whole forget about your friends if you want your powers back" formula,he's so awesome which I love his cool Quincy archery powers destroying the Menos-type Hollows.
Good to see Souken's flashback,such a great character.
Ririn annoys me like always which I would love to punch her face:mad:,but best Ririn abuse from Grand Fisher.
Isshin the awesome father shows up who's a Soul Reaper,WOOOW:D:eek:,to crush the all-powerful Grand Fisher which he DOMINATED this fight to avenge his wife,he's not so idiotic as he looks & even knows Kon,it shocked me when I read the manga of that awesome part:p.
Ichigo's refusal speech was awesome along with Shinji being scolded,hahahahaha.
Grand Fisher's terrifying new Arrancar powers/new form are cool/scary:eek:.
Grand Fisher's defeat was brilliant:Dwhich he got what he deserved for killing poor Masaki(Ichigo's mother).
Ichigo will one day find out his cool father's secret soon.
Both Isshin & Ryuken would so make great rivals like their sons:D.
Talk about a double awesome father dose,hahahahahaha.

Michael Mc.Connohie did great as Ryuken & even Kurodo besides the other 2 jerkoff fathers who's Emperor Charles from Code Geass & Li-En's jerkfather from Zatch Bell!:evil:,& was awesome as Babbo from MAR too.
Patrick Seitz did awesome in Isshin's Soul Reaper performance today besides Sentaro:D.

Let's face it, as far as personaities and parental skills, Isshin and Ryuken are complete opposites. Isshin is a fun loving guy, while Ryuken is serious and business like.

They would be a great Odd Couple. They should star in some of those shorts that air after each episode in Japan.

I keep forgetting Isshin was a captain. But then has it been confirmed what squad of the gotei 13 he was captain for?

As far as the episode goes, much better than the last episode. Perhaps I am still mulling over shinji's voice (who was a little bit more cooler and had a vast vocal range when listening to the japanese seiyuu's performance). I really enjoyed both Isshin and Ryuken's voice here. Definitely one of the highlights for me...

and isn't it next week the start of bleach's fascination with

To anime_guru: It's not a spoiler to say the next Opening "Alone" by Aqua Timez (aka Opening 6) only starts on episode 121. We're at 111. So that will mean about six weeks (since next week is the GI Joe specials and no Bleach) To see it. So if you want your Aqua Timez check back around June.

I actually saw the japanese anime version of this first and yeah I have to say it was defintley surprising that Ichigo's dad was a Soul Reaper (heck I didn't even think it was him at first. I mean I did know that the filler trio wouldn't stop Grand Fisher but was wondering who did). And yeah I also like that Ichigo's power now makes more sense (though let's face it a lot of his power ups were still pretty random and dues ex machina) as well as Isshin being the one to take out Grand Fisher. Yeah Ichigo's bond with his mom was strong but I'd also think Isshin was as well and also Isshin would of been one of the last people you'd expect to do anything cool based on his former attidue. Really this night seemed like just a good chance to hint at future events but hey that's a good way of starting out an arc. Besides there's still a lot of characters and surprises to find out about some of which will start getting revealed the week after to so you know watch out for that.

I had a big feeling that Ichigo's dad was a soul reaper from the start. I mean it was kind of hard to prove it since he was a goofy guy who loved his wife to death. But compared to most dads he remained strong and tried his best with all three kids. And Ichigo seeing ghosts now makes much more sense.

I love how Ichigo just ditches Shinji and he gets yelled at on his cellphone. xP

Oh and Ishida's dad must love to torture his son somehow, something tells me Ishida can't really truthfully go with the deal since...well..the show is basically full of Soul Reapers.(not spoiling anything.)

Anyway, very nice episode, like the 2 for one (been marathoning Shippuden recently, so I like my anime in chunks). The whole bat....shoto.....Uryu's dad showing up was nicely done, but I think that was mostly because all we actually saw him do in both these episodes was hold the bow. We NEVER saw him actually shoot the dang thing, it just happend. And with his request, do you think he knows about Ichigo??? Wait a sec, if he is so UNINTERESTED, then why does he care who his son hangs out with???? And does he use a reverse Just for men???

As for the Kon Chase leading into the other daddy surprise of the nite, the following posts not only summed it up, but had me trying to climb back into my chair when I saw them. Props for the pics and catch phrases...

Yea, his dad being powerful would make Ichigo being the UberShimigami much more believeble, which means I have this need to know more about Isshin, which this has now become HIS story. A definite improvement over the fillers (which I hadn't expected).

Ririn is okay if she doesn't talk. She actully quite a funny prop character when silent. In an upcoming episode, the Bount detectors Mod Souls are involved in a real funny bit, that added on more to a bit from the manga.

Actully I thought Ririn was hillarous in the Bount detectors Mod Souls latest appearance on the anime. Stuff with chocolate in her mouth, and talking in a sedated tone.

Well, they certainly are more interesting than many of the canon characters. If I had my way they would kill off half of the lieutenants. Like that fat guy who eats cookies all the time, that white gray haired guy with the mustache, the chick who I can't tell if she's a guy or a girl, the sister of the chick who I can't tell whether she's a guy or a girl who I also can't tell whether she's a guy or girl, the guy with the sunglasses, and while we're at it they can kill off the hat and clogs guy and all of the people who work for him.

You reminded me, another instant when she was actully hillarous was the episode when she went all jealousy with Rukia and went hunting for a Bount by herself. I still didn't see anything remotely romantic of the conversations Ichigo and Rukia had in that episode. Since the Rescue arc, there has been no hint of Ichigo and Rukia, anyway they were just talking reflectly on the situation, which I have seen Soul Reapers do many times on this show. If that is romance, than there are many gay Soul Reapers on this show.

Nova is awesome because I found out recently he is secretly Chris Redfield (same VA, I never would have made the connection so every time he talks I try to imagine Chris' lines from RE5)

After 4 years, I can finally say outside of the Bleach threads on the anime board, that Isshin is a shinigami, parade around with avatars, fan art, and other such memorabilia, displaying his visage.

It is a shame, no, a crime, that this episode was so horrendously animated and off-model. You could even see where the animators were lazy and just scanned in pages of the manga to make digital cels out of them.

I would consider that very logical to ask except that Ichcigo is a soul reaper (substitute), and is considered alive. Otherwise, this is very much a subject for ICP song material.

Is it just me or in*many* of the scenes where Ichigo and Shinji are fighting is the extra cloth on Ichigo's blade is just magically floating still and in place in the air?

This episode was pretty decent....

Uryu's dad Ryuken is kind of a jerk,but I think he's just trying to look out for his son in his own way...

Kon's running from Grand Fisher was way longer than it was in the manga (though it was streched out alot by including the Bount arcs other mod souls....I said it in the other episode thread,but the only one of them I like is Nova...I could care less about the other two)...

Personally,I think Ichigo's dad being a Soul Reaper is one of the best plot twists in the series (I was amazed when I first read the manga)...It makes sense,too,with Ichigo having as much power as he does (and it was also hinted at earlier in the series that Ichigo already would have developed Soul Reaper powers,even without Rukia's intervention)...
...and he also knows that Kon isn't Ichigo,and has from the start,much to Kon's surprise....I love how Kon points out how differently Isshin treats his daughters as opposed to his son...
I also thought it was awesome how Isshin was able to take out Grand Fisher so easily...looks like he managed to avenge his wife's death...

It is a shame, no, a crime, that this episode was so horrendously animated and off-model. You could even see where the animators were lazy and just scanned in pages of the manga to make digital cels out of them.
