Trees vs. porn, huh? I'd have to say trees are better. They breathe in carbon monoxide and release oxygen, and we need oxygen in order to live and do things like look at porn, hence the superiority of trees.:) That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
And now the lines:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Anakin: Oh, the things you do to get me alone.
Padme: Stop talking.;)

Bleach
Rukia: I think in many ways, Ichigo thinks of himself as being similar to the Bounts. He’s only a substitute Soul Reaper, not a real one. He’s human, but he’s not like other humans. Before he gained his Soul Reaper powers, what he desired most was the strength to protect those close to him. He got the power he wanted, but from that point on, he was pulled between two worlds: the world of the living, and the Soul Society. We can never really understand such a burden. Ichigo endures that struggle, and still he moves forward. Coul anyone of us be that strong? Bount are human too, but not like any other. They are of two worlds. They have suffered in both. That’s why Kariya can only be stopped by Ichigo, because he bears the same burden. So all we can do now is stay here and trust him. Don’t worry, Ichigo is going to win!
Orihime: Yes, I know he will!

Code Geass R2
reruns

Fullmetal Alchemist
Chezka: Hi, Elicia. You wanna see what I got you? My favorite story when I was a kid.
Elicia: Oh, thank you! You’re Dad’s friend, the bookworm!
Chezka: Bookworm?!:crying:

Death Note
Light: Tonight, I’m gonna catch Kira, but I’ll need a favor from you.
Namikawa: Hm, then it’s the end for Higuchi.
Light: What, you know that it’s him?
Namikawa: Huh! So even the great L can be tricked! Based on your reaction, I am now one percent certain that Higuchi is Kira.
Misa: Namikawa’s pretty smart, huh? But then, I always thought he was, from looking at his face. I guess this proves it.
L: No, that was just because Light messed up.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Curtain (about Motoko's new body): Oh my gosh, these are against regulations. Ooh, it makes me hot to imagine what you could do with all this!

Cowboy Bebop
Police: Well anyway, what were you trying to achieve by blowing everything up?
Teddy Bomber: I only wanted to send out a warning against the needless waste of capitalism without philosophy, the needless colonization of planets, the needless circulation of slanted media, and needlessly tall buildings that symbolize all this! You see, by destroying these monoliths, I intended to remind the world what the pioneering spirit is truly about.
Andy: Wait, wait, wait:!
Teddy: Andy?
(Formerly) Andy: Call me Musashi! Ha ha! Go, Jinomaru!
Teddy: But then, it was all needless too, wasn’t it?

SEE YOU SPACE SAMURAI

friday nights not doing very well  I mean its got to be pretty bad if they're considering running (not anime) movies  so much for them never changing the friday schedule ever again!

AS is asking what movies they should run Friday nights. And not to suggest anime movies because no one watched when they aired them.

No anime movies because no one watched them in Saturday graveyard slots? Then they can figure it out on their own.

How about they just play porno movies on Fridays? Though, I'm not really sure why they're complaining about ratings when they still seem to be the #1 cable network in the 18-34 demographic every week.

Sunday - Good numbers for 11 PM FG, but the other FG and Chicken are kind of low.

It's not even true. Some of the Movies they advertised did well, IIRC Metropolis and Escaflowne, while ones that everyone had already seen before, Bebop and Animatrix, did poorly.

They had a chance to air some Ghibli movies a few years ago when Turner bought the airing rights for TCM, but [as] and CN passed on most of those.

This is just more fail from [as].

No anime movies? I thought some of them did pretty well (Metropolis and Escaflowne as previous mentioned, but also the Inuyasha movies). And we all know the Bleach movies would probably garner decent ratings too.

*sigh*

Well, whatever sinks their boat, then. I don't really care anymore. AS is quickly and willingly joining CN down a long, spiraling tunnel towards its doom. Just leave Bleach alone and I'll be happy for an hour.

If anime fans wanted AS to air anime movies, they should have watched them when AS gave them the chance.

The problem with your bolded statement is that some of those anime movies (not all of them, admittedly) WERE watched and garnered decent ratings.

Anime movies wouldn't fix all of the damage. However, the way I see it, AS refusing to air anime movies is a sign that AS is simply looking to inject cheap live-action movies onto the block. In other words, AS is knocking out another night dominated by original programming in favor of acquired material that doesn't even fit into the original AS mantra.

AS is becoming a comedy rerun block and now they are going to add live-action movies that shouldn't belong on AS. I am not happy about that at all.

chdr
04-06-2009, 01:58 PM
AS isn't made of money.

The reason why AS is becoming a comedy rerun block is because no one is watching anime. AS gave them chances. They used to advertise anime all the time. They even put Big O premieres as a Sunday lead-in (it failed).

Then people stopped watching. Be it fansubs took control, or people didn't like the new anime, the viewership dropped. AS stopped treating anime too kindly. Cause and effect.

AS trying to gain more viewers by focusing on comedy angered the anime fans, and in turn made them an ideal target for jokes. Anime's viewership continued to drop, and here we are.

I bet you that even if AS suddenly went on a marketing blitz for anime, no one would watch it.

In fact, most of the people who want to watch AS's anime usually know where to go. The rest never cared, and never will.

Fridays are tanking, even when they advertise the lineup and even without anime.
Look Around You didn't get to finish its rerun run.

I find it amusing how in the latest Friday lineup promo they mention every show except The PJs.
Looks like that while The PJs is performing bad, the Britcoms are doing worse.

Well, we can probably put aside the rumors about Monster coming to AS, considering that it's going to the FUNimation channel along with some other Viz shows.

Oh, and one of those is Buso Renkin, so that older rumor is over with too.

Hmm.

Not more so than the waste of space known as The PJ's though, right? RIGHT?!

I honestly have no idea what animation movies they could show if they won't air any anime ones. Perhaps live action with Old School/Anchorman?

It'd help if they put it on a channel more than five people got.

I swear, between this and HDnet, I'm seriously considering dumping Optimum in favor of FIOS.

Off the top of my head...

Ralph Bashki's stuff (American Pop, Wizards, Fire & Ice, etc)
Sita Sings The Blues
Corpse Bride
Triplets of Bellville
I Married A Strange Person (would need a few edits, but still, tank sex)(lets just say Bill Plymton's stuff in general)
Batman: Gotham Knight
Lil' Pimp (editmania!)
Waking Life
A Scanner Darkly
Titan A.E.
Rock & Rule
Fantastic Planet
Fire & Ice

Then looking up some stuff...
Live Freaky! Die Freaky!
$9.99
The Little Bastard and The Old Fart: Death Sucks (no idea what it is, other than it's German, but the title would certainly help things)
Free Jimmy
Blood Tea and Red String
Mad Monster Party

For movies, they should hurry up and air Justice League: New Frontier and the Wonder Woman DTV movie if they haven't already.

A belated thought about films, though. AS is stupid for just shutting out anime like that. Has it occurred to Williams Street that a completely fresh movie might do well, as opposed to an Inu-Yasha movie or one of the Bleach movies or what have you? Why can't they consider independent films that have nothing to do with a shonen or a franchise?

You know--animated movies that people besides anime fans would likely enjoy.

Let's be clear about this. If I understand it right, they just ruled out anything related to Ghost in the Shell. They have ruled out every Ghibli film ever made, including Princess Mononoke, which I would say fairly qualifies for an Adult Swim airing. They will, incredibly, apparently not even consider Sword of the Stranger, a remarkably polished samurai action film that they could very likely get from Bandai if they wanted. They would not consider Akira, which has been a cult classic since I was six years old.

If that's how they want to play it, fine. Eventually Ani-Monday or some other newcomer will play an honestly good film like Sword of the Stranger instead, and it will do well, and it will be AS' loss.

They really don't get it. This is indicative of an attitude that appears to be more interested in addressing current viewers than it is in winning new ones.
