If you're talking about CNReal, that's just going to be a block on CN that's not supposed to start until next year. Why and how would that affect You Are Here? There's no evidence whatsoever that would suggest that YAH is coming to a close.

I suppose that would depend on what time CN plans to run The Othersiders. They could air it as part of the YAH lineup, although I personally would prefer it if the non-animated programming would remain exclusively on the CNReal block.
I personally hope that YAH doesn't go away, since it's among the few things that I watch on CN now.

I figure it'll air right before YAH but YAH might get a nood-less revamp or a new block might replace it. Depends on what CN wants to do but the line-up on Friday 8-10 probably wont see a significant change... then again this is CN we're talking about.

I don't think You Are Here is going anywhere, but if the Nood's are replaced then I would imagin YAH would get a new mascot or maybe a complete revamp with a whole new package. But even if that happens, I still think You Are Here is defined by it's shows and not by it's packaging, although "The King" is kind of cool.

At this point, who honestly knows? CN didn't make any announcements or mentions of blocks other than Har Har Tharsdays and that usually isn't a good sign for the unmentioned blocks if past history is correct here.

Good point. Expect the slogan "you are here" to remain only as long as the noods do.
Heck for all we know CN might move action back to Saturday nights (IMO, they shouldn't as Friday is a better night for premieres).
So my personal prediction would be they'll keep a similar line-up on Friday night but there will be a new slogan and perhaps more of an identity... oh and they'll probably use more ex-Toonami music regardless.

I haven't seen any signs about You Are Here being canceled. I think that it's fine for right now, or as long as the Nod look remains. If they really want to keep You Are Here, they could change the look of it to match the new bumps. Even so, it would be kind of weird without King Nod there since he is pretty cool. But it still feels like a possible outcome to me too.

A part of me always expected YAH current theme to go away when the Noods were removed from CN, and replaced with whatever the current mascot of CN is, much like the transition of Mortar to TOM. But a part of me also see YAH block being replaced entirely with a different block to match the new theme of their network. After all I have to think carefully of what the CN executive are thinking now, hard to say what they'll do, approve or greenlight. I see it going away so it doesn't feel awkward.

Well, my question is why does CN have to get rid of You Are Here at all? CN has pumped a lot of time and money into the promo's and shows to air on the block and people are into it and it seems to be doing well for itself, I don't see any benefit in CN changing the name iof it's premier block. After much thought on this matter I think people are jumping to conclusions about YAH's demise, I personally think it is going to stick around and get either a new mascot or get an evolved packaging.

Let me ask a question: Are there official news saying that You Are Here is ending? Just because somebody said that The Othersiders is airing on Fridays doesnt mean that it's really ending! As i been seeing on threads, You Are Here is the most seen block on CN! The executives over there at CN must be stupid to cancel it! Has anybody consider that The Othersiders might not even air on Fridays? Or maybe for the future, CNReal will be on Fridays and You Are Here on Saturdays or vice-versa?

I think the best thing to do is to wait and see what's in store. The announcement of The Othersiders coming to Friday nights is not a sign that YAH is about to go away. For all we know, Othersiders could just be joining the YAH block for the time being as a promotion to get viewers interested in it before CNReal premieres.
I think that it would be in everyone's best interest to not act like the sky is falling before we hear anything official.

Well first of all, is You Are Here even a name? Seems to me to be more so a slogan. Action on Friday is going to stay I'd imagine but that slogan and King Nood could be on the way outs. That's not really getting rid of anything but the packaging and if people are going to concerned about that now... well... now you know how I felt last year.
I understand having a fondness for the packaging so who knows maybe without the rest of the noods the king will still be around but I doubt that. The packaging for Friday night action will more than likely change if and when CN moves away from the noods packaging scheme.
And if You Are Here isn't actually a name and is more so a slogan then it might still be that slogan... Now me I'd like to see Friday night get a real name to go along with it's slogan.

I consider You Are Here to be the blocks name, it has consistantly used the name/slogan or whatever you want to call it since it's inception and that is what everyone knows it as, so even if it's not it's official name (which it is) it has become something of a "common law" by now. And the more and more I think about it, I think they will keep the block and repackage it as oposed to getting rid of it as a whole.

As I said in my last post, I feel the You Are Here name has become the blocks "common law" name even if CN does not consider it the blocks name, it really kind of is. It's like going to a CD store and buying Metallica's self titles album, EVERYONE knows the CD as "The Black Album" even though it's not the CD's official name but it has become common law over the years. Same thing with Zepplin's 1-4 albums, they were just called Zepplin on all 4 releases but over the years people have began referring to the albums as Zepplin 1,2,3,4 and it stuck so much that on the re-releases they put the roman numeral on the packaging, same can be said for YAH. It's become a "brand", and if they change the brand then they change the block, it kind of goes hand and hand.

Anyone notice the influx of new members that feel to YAH that I do Toonami? I have this strange feeling they're all the same person...
Anyways, like I had said before, once the Noods leave, YAH is gone. So, yeah, I do think YAH is going to be gone by Fall. What I'm not going to do is laugh or cheer about it on the Internet. It had its fans, and I respect that.

i agreed 100% with you ...once the nood's are gone yah might leave also since Cartoon Network is going to re brand it self ...or they might just rebrand yah into in other fantasy/action block.

I expect a rebrand but if not then good for YAH for having some legs. Let's see if it can at least outlast Miguzi... *sigh* I really miss having action cartoons regularly on weekday afternoons.

If it goes it goes, if it stays then it stays, but my hopes is that if You Are Here does indeed go then we are going to need a new block to show these action cartoons, or they are going to have to premier them on Saturday mornings, which wouldn't be so bad, actually (see the CN Saturday morning thread). I personally don't want to see the block leave, but if it does then I guess the best everyone can do is just make the best of it and hope it gets replaced with something that is going to substain some longevity. I would estemate that people are somewhat fond of the block, but my question to everyone here would be, who wants to see You Are Here go, and who wants to see You Are Here stick around? If people are not to fond of the block in itself then maybe the best thing for CN to do is to scrap it and place the shows on a new block or add them to the premiers on satAM, but if people are digging the block then maybe they should keep it around, problem is, CN is probably going to kill off the King and replace the coloring and packaging with something different, so why keep the name?

You would want to kill the satAM block all together, or you would not want the YAH shows to air on the Saturday morning block? I didn't quite understand. If by you don't want a satAM block at all then all I can say is.......wow. Saturday morning cartoons may not get the ratings of shows that air on prime time, but it's all about pulling those people in to watch your satAM block, or any block no matter what time of day it is and the only way to do that is with good programming. You Are Here offers good programming and if those shows premiered on Saturday mornings then I am sure most of the YAH fans would make sure to catch them on Saturday mornings and the satAM crowd would catch them anyway as a part of their normal cartoon schedule, so it would be a win-win situation. I still don't really want all of that to happen, but I would NEVER want to get rid of Saturday morning cartoons on Cartoon Network, ever.

Problem is, people ARE watching the SatAM block, or at least were when CN gave a damn. To me personally, I don't think CN cares about SatAM at all, they're just burning off TFA and Pokemon there while rerunning YAH shows in the timeslots.

How else will they get kids to buy the toys and merch that they get a cut of of? And plus, some new shows are coming to SatAM in the future...like that Hot Wheels toy commercial er, series.

People are watching Crushzone, maybe not in the numbers that You Are Here pulls in during primetime, but they are still watching it. I am not going to get too into it within this thread because we have a satAM block thread in the CN forum thats currently running, but CN would benefit from putting some strength behind their satAM block and use the time to promote their other blocks and their upcoming CNreal stuff to a broader audience during commercial breaks. CN does care about the Saturday morning block, thats why they put the repeats of You Are Here's premiers on Saturday mornings and premier Pokemon and Bakugan there, because those shows do well for the network. Otherwise, CN would just put the premiers on whatever time and day they wanted to, or they would create another primetime block to promote Pokemon, Transformers and Bakugan premiers, and another options would be to maybe even lengthen the YAH block to air those shows since they are action based. CN cares, they just need to show it a little better.

Exactly. On occasion, it even pulls MORE rating than YAH. The last time that happened though, there were more premieres on the block.
See, that goes to show you that as long as you have solid programming with premier's that are airing on your block, people are going to watch. CN has good shows, CN also has marketing power and if they combined the two and promoted outside of their own network then they could be at the top of the animation foodchain, they just need to be smart about things. They promoted Clone Wars on You Are Here until the cows came home and look at the success of that show, it's huge. They promoted Ben 10: Alien Force and at one point it was CN's highest rated show (I think thats what I read), so it's all about marketing and promotion within a field thats going to pull you in viewers. If Crushzone beat YAH then maybe they should sacrifice YAH in favor of satAM, I don't really want that, but if it works then maybe it's an avenue that CN need's to take a drive down.

If you're not going to cheer about a TV network's failures you might as well not watch TV at all, since there's far more failures than successes in the television industry.

1. Once again, it isn't known for certain that YAH is going away. So you're cheering (albeit inside of your head) over nothing more than groundless speculation with no factual proof behind it.
2. I don't recall anyone being a jerk to you or any other Toonami fan just for liking Toonami; I have, however, seen examples of Toonami fans stating their personal opinions on both Toonami and YAH as if they were facts and going on and on with "CN hates anime" conspiracy theories and an obvious bias towards Toonami and 90's Cartoon Network in general by going out of their way to state that "all of the new shows on CN suck" and "YAH is vastly inferior to Toonami in every way", as if to imply that anyone that actually enjoys these shows is somehow wrong for enjoying them.
Those kinds of statements are probably best left in peoples' collective heads, unless said folks can state them in an inoffensive manner which doesn't come off like they're insulting people for having different tastes than theirs.
I'm locking this thread because:
1.- This is all just a rumor and there's no solid evidence to back it up. Until then, please don't bring this topic back up.
2.- It's obvious several of you can't discuss this without bringing the whole "CN Hates Anime" and "Toonami is dead, deal with it" arguments into the mix. Since we don't need yet ANOTHER thread for that.
If this continues, infractions will be sent.
Thread closed.
