View Full Version : Teen Titans returns to CN!
Checking Zap2it.com today, three episodes of Teen Titans ("Mad Mod" and both parts of "Titans East") will be airing Monday April 13th at 10:30am.
Whether or not this is a one time thing is unknown.

This is actually really good for me because I missed on on Teen Titans original run. I never paid much attention to it and everytime it would come on I never cared to watch it, I would change the channel or find something else to do. Everyone I knew said I was insane, they swore up and down that the show was amazing and yet I ignored the signs and kept on ignoring it, so this is a chance for me to catch it and see what it's all about. I hope they keep it on, it would add a little spice to the schedule and would help break up all the reruns of current CN shows. I swear, sometimes I get so sick of certain episodes of certain shows that come on all the time I am almost forced to turn the channel to Nicktoons or Disney XD, so more variety would be much appreciated on my end.

To be fair it was the success of the kid friendly Teen Titans superhero formula that made CN go ahead with Ben 10 which did quite well for itself (and also has slight anime inspirations though not nearly as much as TT did). It may just be a random showing of eps or it could just be CN trying to test the waters again by showing some of they're old more original shows again. Like how they ended up showing Courage the cowardly dog again last year and that was put back on regular rotation on the network.

Would everyone please stop saying that as if it were a proven concrete fact? It's seriously getting old.
Anyway, a USAnime (American animated series whose art and animation is clearly anime influenced) is still not a true anime. Teen Titans is, first and foremost, a show about comic book superheroes that was designed to appeal to kids and some fans of the 1980s New Teen Titans comic book series. the anime inspired art and animation style was a minor, if not overplayed aspect of the show.

Teen Titans isn't an anime; it's an American cartoon based on an American property whose art style simply mimics anime. Transformers Animated and Ben 10 are animated the same way, and they both still air on CN, so the "CN hates" anime" rhetoric holds no water in this case.

You're happy to see the return of a show that you're not really a fan of just because it's a couple of years old? No offense, but I don't get that mentality. Why should any given show be instantly welcomed back with open arms, regardless of its' quality, just because it hasn't been shown for a while? So using that logic, I guess that it would also be a good thing if CN started airing Zixx, Goosebumps or Out of Jimmy's Head again, right? IMPO, A show should be judged by its' individual quality, not just by what era it stems from.

Uh, nostalgia is nostalgia no matter what. And if you haven't seen something in a while it could turn out better than you remember. And most kids liked Goosebumps so that's not really valid. And wasn't Teen Titans a pretty good show anyway? So that's my say.

I have to agree with Silverstar and say that Teen Titans is definatly not anime, I have seen the artwork and while it may be anime-influenced, it's definatly not direct anime. And I have heard people discuss the age old "Cartoon Network hates anime" argument before and I don't buy into it, I feel that networks (for the most part) find that anime is so easily accessable through the internet that people will not tune into a series thats airing in the U.S when they can catch it dubbed online weeks and months before it airs in America. From my research I have come up with the answer that networks don't want to shell out huge bucks on importing and dubbing a franchise in fear that it will tank and money will be lost, maybe I am wrong but it is a risky thing, especially if the series is avaibale online for people to watch for months before the network imports it. I don't stream anime thats illegal, I use sites that offer legal anime streaming, but unfortunatly not everyone uses the same route.....

Uh, nostalgia is nostalgia no matter what.
And nostalgia tends to blind people to the fact that suck is eternal, as my sig says. Not every old cartoon is good, and not every new cartoon is bad.
And if you haven't seen something in a while it could turn out better than you remember.Or it could turn out worse than you remember. I've seen examples of both. Again, refer to my sig.
And most kids liked Goosebumps so that's not really valid. And an equal amount of them didn't. Please stop stating your opinion as if they're facts.
And wasn't Teen Titans a pretty good show anyway? So that's my say.The above poster just said that he didn't like TT very much, therefore he clearly doesn't share your opinion that Teen Titans was "a pretty good show". Again, your opinion =/= fact.
All I'm saying that how old a cartoon is shouldn't be the determining factor of its' quality. Too many people say "This cartoon should come back to CN simply because it's old and a part of my childhood!" Never mind if said show was any good or not. Again, a show should be judged by its' indivdual strengths and weaknesses, not just because you want to see CN return to some bygone era that you remember fondly and are partially viewing through rose-tinted glasses. If a person didn't think a particular show was all that good when it was being first-run, then there's no guarantee that it'll be any better to them years later. That was my point.

I'd just like to jump in here for a moment and point out that a series that aired in the early to mid '00s hardly qualifies as nostalgia. Teen Titans: TAS ran from 2003 to 2006. Why are some people trying to play the nostalgia card for a series that ended only 3 years ago? Plus the series is out on DVD and the reruns of TT are currently running on Boomerang, so we haven't had the chance to miss the series.

Why do so many people think CN hates anime?? Honestly that statement is getting pretty old nor is the network biased towards ceartain animation types.
Just because Toonami got low ratings resulting in its cancellation doesn't mean anime is banned from the network altogether. If Toonami still got strong ratings, it'd proabably still be here.
I'm really tired of people saying Cartoon Network hate anime!!", if you don't like it, buy the DVD's. :)

Same reason that people play the nostalgia card for Fosters, because we haven't seen it in what seems like a long time and we miss it.

Cartoon Network can't air Batman:TAS as long as Disney still owns it. And I thought that the main reason why the networks didn't want 2 Batman series running simultaneously was because of merchandising and license ownership, not because they were worried about "kids getting confused". Batman is Batman, no matter which studio is working on him. Kids wouldn't get confused. They're not that stupid.

WAS a good show. Ironically the episodes they're gonna apparently air again aren't that honestly good. I think the show was decent for a couple seasons, but once they entered Titan East territory, everything felt disorganized and useless to catch up with. IMO, they should have just made Titan East a spin off, since it seemed like its own idea anyway.

Nintendo is extorted to keep Pokemon on and CN has a stake in Bakugan. Simple as that. If they weren't getting huge profits from them, they'd be gone.

Two things; first, and foremost, the network (more specifically, the executives) have been displaying increasingly xenophobic attitudes towards Japanese animation, more than likely to purge the network of anything pre-2007 and reinvent the image (which is still stupid). This has nothing to do with Toonami. Furthermore, Toonami didn't get canned because of low ratings. The low ratings were artificial because it went a year unadvertised with repeats and Naruto filler, and no attempt was made by CN to remedy this (and the ratings can be argued, since Naruto still got great ratings with no advertising). Toonami was murdered, plain and simple.
CN can't air BTAS, mainly because Disney XD has the rights to the show.
Warner Brothers (and more specifically, Time Warner) still owns the show. If TWX's subsidiaries weren't in a free-for-all, CN could still air BTAS.
On topic, the resurrection of another classic is odd, but it still pisses me off that its on at a time that I'm at school, so I can't watch it. It pretty much doesn't affect me.

It's "Mad Mod" and "Titan East Pt. 1-3", but I'm not too big on the Titan East episodes... or season five for that matter.
Like I said, Titan East should have just been a spin-off... in fact, wasn't it a separate comic series from Teen Titans to start with? :/

Now that I'm over being happy at the show's return, however brief (what's with CN randomly airing older shows from time to time, not that I'm complaining?), Mad Mod and Titans East are some of the worst Teen Titans episodes if I remember correctly. I'd rather they air some episodes from Raven's season (Season Three/Four?).

WOO HOO!!
I hope this is a permanent thing (but seeing what happened with EEnE I doubt it). Of all the WB DC shows, Teen Titans would probably fit in right now on Cartoon Network the most. It has no clashing continuity with Brave and the Bold. Having a DCAU show would definitely have clashing continuity. Hope it stays on, and maybe moved to a different time slot.

It's nice that CN is bringing back this show. I don't remember really liking these episodes that they are going to air, but it's still interesting that they're bringing back a show they haven't aired for awhile. They usually just play the movie every now and then. While I would have preferred some other episode from the series, since I didn't really like it until somewhere around season two/three, but it's good for those who really do like the series.

Second, if you'd like to continue to attack me for no good reason, I'd suggest we take it to PM because I have no desire to get banned.

CN gets all of the merchandising revenue from Bakugan. Nintendo pays CN big money to air Pokemon. That's the only reason those are still on CN.
BTW, I have no intention of derailing the topic any further. If you'd like to continue, we should do it via PM, so neither of us gets any of the flak for it.

Titans East was in only like... three episodes. They had the random sidekick team-ups, but Titans East only had the starring role for three or four episodes (not counting the Titans Together duology).
OK, no more discussion on xenophobia, anime hate, or anything like that in this thread. If this continues infractions will be sent. I mean it.
