Not really. DBZ's time has passed, and the demographic has already moved on to other fighting shonens like Naruto or Bleach.

The show has been renamed Dragonball Kai. But seriously, I'm not really sure if this will air on CN or not.Not really. DBZ's time has passed, and the demographic has already moved on to other fighting shonens like Naruto or Bleach.Actually, I think that DBZ is as popular now as it was when it was on Toonami.

Maybe it'll air on AS. That's where most of the target audiance is. If AS can air SWTCW, it can air DB Kai. Or they could put it on CN to see how well it does with kids nowadays. The games still sell extremely well so that's how most younger kids know about it. Those would be the best 2 options. DBZ is still the top selling anime property in the US and DB Kai should be on TV some way or another.

While a lot of people believe that the Dragonball phase is totally over, the toys still seem to be selling well, which is why they keep on being made. So, while I don't think that Dragonball Kai will be coming to CN anytime in the near future, it's not completely ruled out.

No.
Just no. DBZ is a show for kids. Plus, DBZ hasn't been anywhere near #1-selling for quite awhile.

We don't even know if FUNI will even dub this, let alone CN.
If FUNI gets this wouldn't they re-do all the lines again? I doubt they'd just copy/paste the recorded dialogue from the regular show.

Uh, They air it to get the mid adult audience as CN airs it to gain kids and TNT for older adults 34-54 for complete synergy

then it's time for a new generation! That's sorta why I'm hoping it airs on CN the most. I mean when DBZ first came to America it wasn't an instant hit. It gradually built fans and I'm hoping that's what DB Kai will do. Thank you for finally pointing that out. :)

DB Kai on Adult Swim? Well, anything is possible, but I wouldn't bet danger money on that happening.
Perhaps it could air as part of You Are Here. That could work, I think.

My only concern is if they aren't willing to air Naruto Shippuden, then why would they air DB Kai. It's the same senario. Remember these are the ultimate anime haters we are talking about here. :anime:

I can see how that would be a concern. Dragon Ball/DBZ has already come and gone from CN, and airing new anime isn't high on CN's "to do" list right now. This coupled with the already negative feedback that the live action Dragonball: Evolution movie has been recieving before it's even been officially released. Still, it's too soon to completley rule out anything.

My gut instinct was to veto this suggestion, on the grounds that DB/Z is considered a kids' show here in the US, but really the idea of DB Kai airing on [adult swim], while highly improbable, is not completely impossible. After all, [as] is currently airing a CN show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and has aired kids' cartoons before: Saved by the Bell, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, The Ripping Friends, The Super Globetrotters and Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos. So such a thing wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility.
The major roadblock preventing such a move as I see it would be convincing CN/AS that Dragon Ball Kai would be worth their acquiring. The Dragon Ball franchise, while still popular in the US, has already reached and passed its' zenith, and Joe Consumer couldn't even try to sell CN/AS on the series by saying "It would be a cool way to tie in with the Dragon Ball: Evolution movie", since if the buzz on the internet and word of mouth I've been geting from friends and associates is any indication, it's not looking like DB:E is anything some self-respecting money-hungry cable station would want to willingly attach themselves to.

Why do we have TWO threads about this now?
Anyhow, for a broadcast on CN: I wouldn't look forward to one. Dragonball is still highly popular around the globe and FUNimation isn't likely to have air it on TV.

While I do agree with you that CN should give DB Kai a chance, I have to say one thing. Have you sat down with the Cartoon Network execs and had tea with them? Have they sent you a text message saying "We hate anime"? Unless that is the case, then no one here knows for sure what the execs' view on anime is.

And AS puts out ads about how anime sucks all the time. Why did CN pull One Piece when the ratings were up? Why did they all of a sudden stop advertising their top show at the time (Naruto)? Somethings up with that there.

im worried...i guess we had so much Toonami back then with loads of anime...that now they want to switch sides and give us too much live action instead
If you didn't notice, it was a little overexagerated on purpose. And AS puts out ads about how anime sucks all the time.
AS only does that because they know that anime fans will react to it wildly. If the anime fans just ignore it, the teasing will go away.
Why did CN pull One Piece when the ratings were up?
Fun Piece wasn't "meeting their expectations", for some reason.
Why did they all of a sudden stop advertising their top show at the time (Naruto)? Somethings up with that there.
Because it's from the old regime. Not because it's anime.

AS trolls its audience all the time because anime fans that complain are too uptight and whine over the slightest things.
They do not want a lot of anime right now. Call it bias or whatever, but they don't want the audience that watches stuff like Naruto or DBZ anymore.

Now why's that? After they have become such big successes? It is simply not the demographic they are looking for. For example, even though lots of kids probably watch Bleach, AS doesn't care or count them as viewers.

The point is that we will probably never see DragonBall Kai or Naruto Shippuden on CN ok. If we're lucking, some other channel may pick them up. Hopefully SciFi since they actually treat anime with respect.
