This was the first time I watch Pilot Candidate and I thought it was pretty cool. What don't you like about it?You didn't say that. Don't tell me you just said that. (Hey, my knowledge of wrestling catchphases came in handy for once!) Last time that question was asked, a minor fued started between the PC fans and Evangelion fans who thought that PC was a ripoff of their beloved show. Those posts ended up in an arguement debating the merits of "Ranma 1/2", which didn't make any sense at all. I don't feel like going through that again.

I legitmately liked the show.

Then I saw the opening and it COMPLETELY ruined the ENTIRE story for me. I mean jeez could they not've made a more bone head mistake (Thinks about the dub. Oh yeah!)

Personally I think Pilot Candidate has a chance to be a really decent show. I haven't really made up my mind as to whether or not to be a fan of this show or just casually watch it because its on. That said, I do have a couple of small problems with the show. First of all its the worst dub of an anime I've ever seen. Its kind of like watching dubbed movies, which is a little weird. Another part is that the story goes kind of slow. DBZ is the same way, but its on daily, so in five days SOMETHING happens. Only three episodes have shown, so compared to Yu Yu Hakusho and the rest of the ASA shows, not a lot has happened. Those are just little things though, and probably not what everyone else dislikes about the show.

I actually have been wondering about this too. As the shows original name was "Canidate for Godess", emphaisis on godess not to mention the guys' eyes and composure looks like a girls'. But maybe since the suits are godess's thats what the shows title intends.

I think the people would dub Pilot Candidate should be forced to listen to it 24 hours a day for atleast 2 months. Than they shall know torture.

Is Pilot here to stay? I really wish it would end. It's pathetic, there's so much good anime out there and ASA picks this one. Why?

I happen to like Pilot Candidate. More so than Cowboy Bebop (which is good, but not all it's cracked up to be). I have been wanting to see this show for a while, and I like it just fine.

First of all its the worst dub of an anime I've ever seen.

I've seen worse anime dubbed before. Way worse. You obviously have never seen stuff like Shadow Skill, the Tekken movie, the Sailor Moon SuperS movie (dubbed by Pioneer too!), and of course there is always the hack and slash job Nelvana did to Card Captor Sakura.

But I don't mean to take this post off topic. Just putting in my 2 cents.

i like the show as well. guys, wait until you see the next three episodes, thats when stuff starts to happen, if you dont like it by then, then you wont like it.

another note of interest, PC doesnt have an ending, it stopped airing in japan due to poor ratings. HOWEVER, the video release of the series in japan is succesful (why? i dont know), and becuase of that, a new, previously unreleased 13th episode will be released sometime in april/may

Ugh, I can't stand it. So I don't watch it. As long as it has an audience, I guess it should stay on. I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, y'know? But I find it to be a cliched, poorly dubbed, uninspired, poorly animated (the CG is nice but hyper-jarring), deriative (same complaint, diffrent word), unintelligent, plodding, and dull. Whew. Whole lotta complaining going on... oh, it's an EVA ripoff too. Sorry but it's obvious. So many elements are torn from EVA it's crazy. It's like every other stupid, 13-year-old-boy-gets-to-pilot-giant-robot-and-have-crazy-philosophical/freudian-hallucinations anime. It's stuff like this that turns people off of the genre.

Last nights episode(#3) was the first time I've watched it.

........oh my god this is so bad.......

Most terrible 30 minutes of my night...and Gundam didn't help MUCH(I wana see more blood...after Pilot, I just REALLY wanted to watch a masacre).

I csn`t get through more than a few minutes on my own. I always watch adult swim while sitting around in palace chat (click HERE (http://scythemantis.homestead.com/files/palace2.jpg) for a screenshot. Yes, we were having a very inane conversation. As usual :) ) with the little gang there (I forget if theyre all in that pic or not) while we remark about whatever is on. Thanks to PC, saturday nights have turned into a bunch of booing, hissing and positively hysterical lewd remarks. It`s the only entertainment i`ve gotten out of the show :P

This is one of the worst animes ever, and easily the weakest of all the shows we've seen to date on Adult Swim. What is there to like about this show? Be honest. Eye-candy?

I happen to like Pilot Candidate. More so than Cowboy Bebop (which is good, but not all it's cracked up to be).

I'd rather listen to a Brittany Spears album than watch PC. The show is just awful. And I'd be careful where you call PC better than CB. It could get you hurt. :p

oh, it's an EVA ripoff too. Sorry but it's obvious. So many elements are torn from EVA it's crazy. It's like every other stupid, 13-year-old-boy-gets-to-pilot-giant-robot-and-have-crazy-philosophical/freudian-hallucinations anime. It's stuff like this that turns people off of the genre.

oh please, enough of the "eva rip-off" crap. it doesnt mean that eva should be the only anime that can have those elements, especially in a time where most of the stuff has already been done. when you really think about it, eva itself is a rip-off, i can think of several titles before eva that had the "bad guy comes every episode so lets fight it" animes (ok, lets not get into that here).

anyhow, PC is very different when you actually sit down and watch it, which is obviously too hard for people to do. as a real anime fan, i like all animes (yes even pokemon, but i havent seen all of it). i really cant do anything if you dont like it. i do agree on one thing though, theres better anime out there and i rather see a better anime (that i havent seen yet) on asa

I've been trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it's really getting hard. Since it's only 12 episodes, I guess I can watch the whole series before rendering final judgement... but it's got a lot of ground to make up.

Oh, I do have to admit though, this past weekend's episode did have one scene I enjoyed immensely. Nearly spit out the food I was eating, I found it so funny...

After the Victim fires a blast that rocks the station, a door opens into the hallway, where we see the blond-haired Candidate with glasses and the grey-haired Candidate. The blonde one is bent over at the waist, his face pressed against the waill and his butt up in the air. Greyhair is standing behind him. And both look rather surprised at the person who came through the doorway.

The first thing that popped into my head was, "My god, it turned into a yaoi hentai show!"

Yes, my mind works in strange ways. :D You gotta admit though, that was the strangest pose blonde could have been in at the moment...

PC is one of my favorite shows. I like what I like, and let's face it, will all of this ranting for or against PC really do any good to the local, national, or global good as a whole? Naw, but it'll make me feel good. Considering that people continue to make threads or post in current ones to express both their intrest and distaste in PC, everybody must love it. Those like me who enjoy it love to love it, and those who don't enjoy it love to hate it. It's like a bully. You adore the satisfaction hating them gives you, and if they became nice and you tried to hate them, it loses it's value. Human empathy is an odd, odd thing.

Actually, I think most of us HAVE sat down and watched it. That's how we know we don't like it. Jeez, just because I don't like something doesn't mean I haven't given it a try.

i cant' believe there is only 12 (maybe 13) eps. it is moving very slow ..i like it a lot (not my fav but enjoy it) i hope i'm not disappointed when the show abruptly ends or speeds up so quicks i'll blink and miss a whole episode

So let me get this straight. There are only 12 episodes? Three have passed, and I still don't know what the purpose of this show is. Strange computer animated creatures are attacking colonies, and an elite team of pilots control giant robots shaped like women. And then there's all these kids fighting for the right to pilot these giant robots? Bah!

I'm sorry, but I've watched anime to see amazing artwork and impressive storylines. I don't watch anime to see terrible plots and even worse computer animated graphics. That's why I think PC sucks. Then again, that's just my opinion.

ok..i'm just a little upset about the comment a while back about being careful where you say PC is better than CB for fear of harm. that was immature AND it was directed at someone i care about muchly. if you are able to voice your opinion on a show, then someone else can voice their opinion as well.

I understand that you are upset, but the person who said that was just joking harmlessly. I think that you are taking this a little too seriously. See the little :p at the end? It's not meant to be taken seriously at all. I thought that was very clear to everyone.

This is why we are not allowing insults to be thrown about on the board, even if you are being "sarcastic." The point of sarcastic insults is still to insult others, which destroys discussion and starts flame wars.

I don't think that this instance was out of line, but it illustrates why the more extreme examples aren't acceptable.

Now let's drop this and have milk and cookies. And continue on with the regular discussion.

To set the record straight, they didn't just voice their opinion, they said CB isn't all it's cracked up to be, which is a direct insult to CB.

Augh!!!! Didn't we go over this before???? Yes, Pilot Candidate rips off Eva. Just like Eva rips off Gundam. And so on, and so on. Eva didn't invent these cliches, it just incorporated them all into one show. I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Anime is 50% plagarism, and 50% improving what you plagaized.

Bebop is over-rated. It gets a huge fan-base because many fans of it havn't seen anything past what airs on TV. I'm not insulting the show, or it's fans, but it is over-rated in my opinion.

He implied that it's over-rated. That's in no way an insult to Bebop. It's just saying it has a larger fan-base than it deserves when compared to your average anime series fan-base, which is true. It's a good, though.

Heheh... Damn strait. Gainax rips off everyone... Hell, they ripped themselves off in "Otaku no Video". From Lum, to Giant Robo, Gainax ripped off near every anime in existance in some shape or form.

I wish you could see all the double standards you're setting up, here. Your bashing a show completely not even "stating it as opinion" :rolleyes: and then when someone else "states their opinion", which just so happens to be different from yours, you get all upset.

Not everyone may like Cowboy Bebop. Everyone may have not watched Eva. Not everyone may not even LIKE Eva. Why can't you people understand this?

Yup. The idea is that you can actually disagree with other people's opinions here. Otherwise discussions here would suck pretty bad.

It's not really offensive, just a different opinion, so there's no reason to delete it...though some of the other posts here have been pretty much just mindless bashing, as you said.

Anyways, I'm getting tired of seeing these arguments pop up in this thread, so it's going bye-bye. I just don't have the energy in me to try to babysit this thread.
