Ok, since Outlaw Star is coming on next: I'll keep my comments short.
Yu Yu Hakusho: THis is starting to grow on me. Every week I enjoy this show more and more. The whole sequence with the girl beating up the guys was cool. And who knew that having bad grades could be so funny? Overall grade: A-
Cowboy Bebop: My first time watching and I love it. I was so used to Roger's voice but Spike is so different so it works. Love to see next week's with the animals. Better have enough food (or better quality)for next time. OVerall grade: A-
Pilot Candidate: I'm trying to enjoy it, but it seems so flat. The animation is cool, but the dubs and the SLOW storyline doesn't help at all. Where's the training?? Overall grade: D
Gundam: Very cool. I like the fact that everyone is hitting on the blonde and failing. I would of like to see more of the villain (the guy who stole that one Gundam), but everything I have said before. Overall grade: B
Uh oh, Outlaw Star is on and I'm missing it. Be back later with the rest of my reviews.

YYH was great! kuwabara is my favorite character now :)
pilot candidate was average, ive already seen it, they had 4 edits on the episode, although i cant remeber if intructor azuma was smoking when zero and hied was fighting, becuase on dvd 2 and 3, he doesnt smoke at all. and next weeks episode should be good, the training starts. i dont know why people dont like PC so much, you guys are probably sleepy at midnight.
gundam 0083 ive seen also, i feel so sorry for gundam, they edited a lot :( i really could care less though, ive seen it anywayz

Yu Yu Hakusho
This series still continues to kick ass. I like how they delved into Kuwabara's character. And to think I was gonna write him off as the resident idiot. He actually cares about his posse. Something you don't see bullies do often. I like how they're taking it slow, so you can get to know the characters before the real stuff start to happen. A
Cowboy Bebop
Ahh, the first episode and a classic one at that. I still find it funny how this episode couldn't air in Japan due to content yet it airs on a kids channel here nearly unedited. What does that say? :) A
Pilot Candidate
This show is beginning to blow. I can't seem to follow it and it's really boring me. How can so much happen in an episode yet still go ABSOLUTLY NOWHERE? Bah! F
Gundam 0083
*tsk* *tsk* Naughty Monsha! He makes his first appearence in this episode. It's a shame that people who only know this show by CN will never know how he really is. A nice episode. B

you probably didnt get the episode. the whole story and that deal with the girl is supposed to be a "mystery" until in the later episodes. the next two weeks (eps. 4 and 5) should be good when they start training. if you dont like it by then, then you wont like the rest.
o yea, btw, if you guys didnt know already, pilot candidate doesnt have an ending, it just stopped airing in japan on episode 12 (curiculum 11).

Yu Yu Hakusho
Jeez, Kuwabara's english VA really annoys me. Other then that though I felt that it was dubbed fairly well, why FUNI keeps moving from swear words to words like "Darn" is beyond me. The edits were pretty light this time around. 7/10
Cowboy Bebop
Still one of the best anime series ever. 9/10
Pilot Candidate
I'm sorry, this show just isn't doing anything for me. It's pretty much boring, and it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better anytime soon. 1/10
Gundam 0083
I'm really enjoying this series, there's a nice amount of action in this show also. I'm really looking forward to more Gundam shows in the future. 7/10

Suprisingly better than I expected it would be. Despite not advancing the story at all (looks like we'll have some of that next week though :)) it turned out to be a pretty entertaining episode. Got some nice character development for that Kuwabara guy. Is anyone else loving the opening and ending music as much as I? It kicks ass :)
Grade: B+
Cowboy Bebop
Ah... the first episode again. Its outdone consistantly later in the series, but it is one of the better earlier eps. Does a nice job of putting you right in the situation despite having no exposition. Of course there's the usual perfect dub & music; a fairly interesting storyline this week too. Not one of the best first episodes out there, but still a pretty good one.
Grade: A-
Pilot Candidate
Joy, this show continues to get worse each week. Lets see... first we got the show overcomplicating itself with a bunch of different plots and characters that make little sense; we get a bunch of goofy designs on the women in this episode, just when you think they can't get more ridiculous they do; the dub continues to get worse and worse; the enemy this episode was a seahorse; and Zero's "Woman! Woman!" made me want to puke.
Grade: F
Gundam 0083
A downer after the previous 2 episodes, but still an all around alright episode. I don't care much for this Monsha guy, and we didn't get much plot, have no complaints other than that.
Grade: B
Outlaw Star
An episode that suffers from the ridiculous introduction of Aisha Clan Clan (who I can't stand), but seriously recovers itself in the second half with the introduction of the MacDougal Brothers and the plot advancement. Unfortunately the lack luster first half keeps it out of 'A' range. Kick ass ep next week, one of the best in the series.
Grade: B
Tenchi Muyo
I like this ep quite a lot, with the introduction of the adorable Ryo-Ohki and the interaction between Tenchi and Ayeka. While the show won't really hit its stride for a few more weeks, this episode easily nails first place for the introductory episodes in the series.
Grade: A-
Overall it took somewhat of a downturn from last week, although there's always a downer after the best anime ending of all time. Things look good for next week, outside of PC of course.
Grade for the night: B

yup, no ending, it just...stopped. the thing is, it stopped at the most exciting part of the series, yes, it gets better imo (gets better in the next 2 episodes) btw, i was wondering, ep. 9 is called "Death", wonder how they'd edit that.
Is anyone else loving the opening and ending music (YYH) as much as I? It kicks ass
i do, it was stuck in my head last week (i was singing it while i was lifting the other day...) but i think the japanese version sounds better though.

Ok, here are the remaining two reviews:
Outlaw Star: Myabe it's just me, but it seems like the first episode built it up very well. Then, it lost its momentum. I want to know the purpose of the two women. Overall grade: B
Tenchi: Same as above, but now that there is something to look forward to with the search for the brother, I look forward to next weeks show. Overall grade: B
One complaint: How come there were no commercials for tomorrow's Adult Swim?? So far I see one during Rising Sun with The Jetsons (looks very disturbing). OVerall grade for tonight: B+
Next week is looking great.

Yu Yu Hakusho: When Kuwabara ran up to punch out that buck toothed teacher, I expected some teeth to fly but nothing happened. It was still funny just watching Kuwabara letting everyone kick his arse throughout the entire episode. :p
Pilot Candidate: I feel that thiss series will have a very loose story line at this point and that at best we can only expect an action based theme with a mix of humor. It's only a question of when that action will begin.
Gundam 0083: (My VCR cut off after the first three minutes of the beginning. :( So I searched on-line and read a transcript for this weeks episode.)
From what I've read I'm guessing that I haven't missed much on this episode. I'm betting that that might have made a few cut with Monsha in some of the scenes around the female work crew. :D This probably would have only made an average episode at best.

Yu Yu Hakushu: A good development of Kuawabara's character. I guess since we know he's going to be a regular character later (from those cool bumpers with the squished animation) that they had to develop his character more than the idea that "He's a jerk," that we got from the first episodes.
Although, at times, it seemed like they were trying a little too hard to get you to like him. But, hey, at least it worked (for me anyway).
This is a really fun show. I'm really enjoying the series for now (though I'm a little nervous how it will develop once we get into that weird spirit world).
Cowboy Bebop: I recently got the DVDs, and I'm really impressed how minimal they kept the edits. I remember my first time seeing it, way back on Adult Swim's premier, and I was taken aback when I saw shootouts, drug use, cursing and sexual inneundo all on the Cartoon Network. I knew it was "Adult" Swim, but the rest of the shows...well, I think I'd just better stop right there and back away slowly.
As someone mentioned before, I think it's great that the first episode just throws you in the middle of their daily life and doesn't begin with "This is Spike, this is Jet," and just lets you pick things up for yourself. Overall, it's a solid episode, but nowhere near the quality of some of the best ones.
Pilot Candidate: I gave this show a chance--I really did. But I just can't get into it. Various criticisms about this show have all been made three times over, so I'm not going to repeat it. But there is one small animation thing that bothers me. Maybe this has been mentioned before, but it seems that in any setting, with any lighting, the chracters all have a halo of a light reflection on their hair. I know it's just the "style," but I kept noticing it, and it bothered me much more than it should.
The Rest: Ugh...long week...need sleepy...
I fell alseep in the middle of Gundam. Oh well...

I went to bed after PC because I can. I'll review the rest later.
YYH: Really good! I like it immensely so far, as it's helping to give Kuwibara some character(Though his voice still sucks). Plus, it's also helped us firmly established that those teachers are pretty much the human antagonists for our two main males at the moment; they weren't shown much in the first episode, so now it'll make a little more sense if they play a big role in the plot. Oh, and the part with Yuske possessing that girl's body(And I'm pretty sure that girl's voice was Bulma's) and kicking ass was classic. Still, I think I'm about ready to see some new stuff now, because we've gotten our main characters established; the epiode for next-week, where he has to save Keiko and his body in a fire, looks like pure filler. Dang.
CB: I'd be happier if not for the fact that I've seen the 1st episode 3 frickin' times(And my brother, instead of opting to watch it with me, turned on Bug Juice. Gah.)...I'll start recording CB again after Episode 6, the last one I was able to watch due to a 3-day weekend.
PC: "WOOH-MAAAAHN!" Ugh. Kill me now. I don't see why they don't just take it off, it's evident that only one out of 100 people likes it(And one of the likers is my brother....) Bad dubbing all around, with those horrible mouth flaps, voices that sound out of Rugrats, and overall bad acting(Maybe Zero SOUNDS like Tai, but it's not the same guy....Tai's Joshua Seth, and Zero is....Something else. Also, besides the cat-eared girl's introduction being vague and confusing, she has a bad voice to boot, and then she started SINGING! Kill me!). I said I would give this show three episodes to improve. I see little chance of it improving now.
0083: I went to bed at this time. My caffiene supply finally ran out, plus I wasn't in the mood to watch any more after PC. Later today, probably...
Naraht
03-10-2002, 11:35 AM
geez, everyone falling asleep...I watched this morning the 1st 2 hours, (YYH-G0083)
YYH - Well, I missed the 1st ep, so this is the 2nd ep I've see, and so far, I'm likeing it, but wondering where it's going to go...
CB - Never seen the 1st ep...Wow. =D I get to watch em in order finally! =D
PC - Ok, I can see where ppl might not like it, as I can't follow it, but it has that "deeper meaning" feel, which makes me willing to wait it out. It's like Escaflone....the start is diffrent from the end...you just gotta plow through it.
G-0083 - Eh...the only Gundam I've seen is G-Wing, so I'm having trouble, since I didn't see 0080, so I have no point of refrence.

YYH- Well its a long series, so I guess they can afford episodes just used for character development. Kuwibara has a pretty bad dub, but I like the character. Midly funny episode, with some good character development
Grade: B+
Cowboy Bebop- One of my favorite episodes. Got to love drug use, blood, sexual innuedos all in one episode.
Grade: A
Pilot Candidate- I am usually pretty good at following confusing storylines, but I still don't have a clue whats going on with this show. We better get some pretty good explainations in the next few episodes or I will just start skipping it. Oh yeah dubs suck.
Grade: D
Gundam 0083- I really like the Gundam series, but of course the only Gundam series I didnt like was 0080. Pretty pointless episode, but still has some good material in it and introduces Monsha decently
Grade: B-
Outlaw Star- Besides the Toonami Edits, the episode is pretty good. Of course any episode with the MacDougal brother is good
Grade: B
Tenchi- I have actually never sit down and watch Tenchi before it appeared on Adult Swim, though I had watched a few random episodes so I know something. Good episode and you finnaly see in some ways how Tenchi is connected to Ayeka. I want the cat/ship thing.
Grade:B
KingKoopa

YYH: Great episode, character development, what everyone else said. Grade: A
After this, I usually don't watch SNL, but Jon Stewart was on it. I've already seen the Bebop and 0083 episodes, and from PC it doesn't sound like I missed much. If Jon wasn't on SNL I probably would have just gone to sleep at midnight anyway.
Cowboy Bebop: I've seen this episode 4 times, great every time. But, there are so many better ones than this, I have to give it an A-, low for Bebop's standards. Nice introduction, starts all the characters, but still entertaining for the regular viewer.
Gundam 0083: Not really a great episode, but everything makes a little more sense now that I've seen MSG. B+, minus one letter grade for Toonami edits, C+.
Evil Dr. Reef
03-10-2002, 01:54 PM
Yu Yu Hakusho: Another good episode. FUNimation is actually doing a good job dubbing it! And if there were any edits, they wern't noticeable. A.
Cowboy Bebop: The episode that starts it all. My only tiny, tiny complaint is the flashback scenes in the begining. Since this episode has almost nothing to do with Spike's past, it's almost like a spoiler for the rest of the series. Still, a pretty small & fairly stupid complaint about a wonderous show that only gets better from here. A.
Pilot Candidate/Candidate For Goddess: Hey! This episode didn't completely suck! The dubbing/script started out good, but it got REAL bad after about 15 min. The CGI was still bad, but at least SOME of the characters aren't so hammy anymore. C-.
Gundam 0083: An average episode. The only obvious edit was Lt. Burning's bottle of hooch, and the fact that you only see him get it for a milisecond, and it's full, and then a minute later, after not drinking any of it, it's half empty. Crazy edits. Anyway, B+.

Yu-Yu Hakusho-I can't belive Kuwabara actually didn't fight back after he got dingged up like two or three times! I liked that one scene where Yuske took over that girls body, and fought the guys that dingged up Kuwabara. I wouldn't even think Yuske would do something like that for his rival...
Grade-A+
Cowboy Bebop-DAMN! LOOK AT ALL THAT BLODDY EYE! SEE IT? HUH? I can't belive that someone could carry all that bloddy eye if it takes what? Three months to make one of those little tubes? SPIKE REALLY DID LOOK REDICULOUS IN THAT OUTFIT!
Grade-Since it's the tightest, radist, and sweetest anime of all the world so far.....A+++++++++++++++ and more plusses after that...
Pilot Candidate-I don't wanna get trashed, please, but I liked it,sorta. NO DON'T KILL ME! I seriously liked it....it could've been better, but it was an alright episode.
Grade-B-
Gundam 0083-I really like Gundam 0083. It's really cool considering it's copyrighted in 1990. It's one of the best anime's I've saw in a while....
Grade-A
Outlaw Star-I thought the whole Ctarl Ctarl thing was quite funny. But,why did Gene practically freaked when Melfina held his hand? Hmm? I dunno, either. I really liked the Ctarl Ctarl scene alot,so that REALLY helped Outlaw Stars grade!
Grade-A+++
Tenchi Muyo-Finally Ayeka! Get your ass outta that room and say hello damnit! LOL. The flashbacks of Ayeka and Yosho were really cute,so sue me! I would've almost missed it if I wouldn't have got up to get me a HUGE cup of chocolate milk on Outlaw Star......

YYH - Not a bad episode. Relly helped build Kuabara as a character. Final Grade - B+
Cowboy Bebop - Didn't bother watching cause I've seen it before
Pilot Candidate - As the lone PC fan on this board (And yes I AM the only one) I liked this episode. True the story was a bit hackneed and is definate need of some work. True hte dub is a bit crappy but well I don't care. The episode atleast explained (Or at least named) that weird power that Zero has.
Un fortunatly I watched the opening of the show and it completely ruined the show for me for any and almost all up to the end. I mean jeez.
And before anyone flames the hell out of me, I had the same problem most of you are having with this series but with Gundam Wing. It really didn't interest/make sence me till about the 10th episode.
So Final Grade - C-
And I fell asleep before Gundam 0083 came on (Personalyl I don't liek Gundam anymore. Plus I don't want to watch any sequels till I see the rest of MSG)

Yu Yu Hakusho:
This show looks like it's going where most other animes like it have gone before. This is not a bad show, but not an exceptionally remarkable one, and certainly nothing original. It's a good starter anime, though. If you haven't seen a lot of anime, keep watching. If you have seen a lot of anime, then why waste your time with another formulaic show? Grade: B
Cowboy Bebop:
The best anime ever. I've seen the whole series four times, and it's still good. I need to get the soundtrack. Grade: A
Pilot Candidate:
This show is bad. I want my time back. Grade: Z
Gundam 0083:
Dammit, I don't care about political melodrama. If I wanted that, I'd go rent one of Mamoru Oshii's movies. Show me big fighting robots and classic battle scenes. Grade: C
Outlaw Star:
This looks like a good show. I'm liking it pretty well so far, despite the english dubbing. Why does "Gene" talk like a game show host? Aisha Clan-Clan is.... very nice. Grade: B
Tenchi Muyo:
I'm going to kill Aeka. I hate her. Grade: C

You're not the ONLY one who likes Pilot Candidate, I like it. It seems that those who don't like it say it's because they haven't even started training. Well, that might be because it's still their first day. PC is definattly a show you either love or hate. I love it. 86.8% of you seem to hate it. And as for it not having an ending, that is because it's based on an unfinished Manga. They tried to stretch as much as possible. That's why the first few episodes aren't that action packed. So basiclly, I give this episode which expertly showed a bit more of the characters and bit more of EX, an A. As for the rest of the night, YYH gets an A, CB gets an A, and G0083 gets a B+. Sit back, relax, let the haters of a show hate it and the lovers of a show love it. The revolution has been televised.

The 2-D animation is okay, and I think the character designs are okay. The CGI is most certainly not okay. The CGI is freakishly awful, it doesn't blend with the 2-D elements at all. It's so bad that I wonder if they even tried to blend the CGI. It was TERRIBLE. Do you know how bad it was? I've seen better CGI in television commercials. I can render crap like that on my PC at home. Please, it's garishly horrible.

I don't really love Pilot Candidate but I don't really hate it. Once they get around the character development stuff, I expect the rest of the series to pick up on a more action based theme. It might get better as we get closer to the end.
