I know you're new, but alot of members here like to use good grammar when they post here. Just an idea to get you a little more liked.

I'll go see it if and only if they get the original cast.

I'm like Orion up there. I've already got the movie, but you bet I'll go see it. I just hope that Columbia-Tristar will keep the original voice actors on for the dub. Otherwise, I'll just keep on watching my CD of it.

They HAVE to have the English dub actors. I mean, pure and simple, they need to. It's the only dub I've seen where the English cast beats the Japanese one. Spike sounds smoother and more debonair (less naselly), Wendee Lee's deep-voiced Faye is much sexier than the high-pitched Megumi Hayashibara, and Jet just sounds a lot more sick of all this crap, which is exactly how he needs to sound. I mean, Bebop just strikes me as a series that works better with English dialogue. It seems more western in general atmosphere.

Is the movie being produced by a different company than did the series? If it's the same company, I'm sure they'd use the same cast. But if it's a different one, and especially if they're producing it for a theatrical release, then I'm a bit nervous. They'd probably try to get some "name" actors to do the voices if they were planning it for a definite theater release. That would really, really blow.

Either way, the original music should be safe.

Yep. Columbia-Tristar has the rights in the U.S. for the movie. Bandai had them for the series. With any luck, they'll have enough sense to hire the Bandai actors if they plan on making this movie the way a LOT of the fans will like it.
An interesting side-note: When I first heard about this, I went to the Columbia web site to "investigate". Suprise, suprise, I found out that they're a division of Sony, who released the movie in Japan. It wouldn't suprise me at all to find out later that Sony just gave this to Columbia & Bandai never really had a chance of getting it.

I think Columbia/TriStar outbid Bandai (probably by a lot) to get this. I think they're trying to get into big Asian releases (they started with some Godzilla stuff but are moving to other things). I don't think they were just handed the movie (even if they're divisions of the same mega-corp).

I heard something awhile back about them possibly rescoring the movie. Please tell me this isn't so.

I would be SOO happy if the movie comes to America, but to be honest, if it does, I think it will sell horribly. Most people have the idea all cartoons are for kids, so very few adults or teenagers will see it. I imagine the movie will be rated PG-13, so many younger kids won't be allowed to watch it either. Then there's the name...Cowboy Bebop. I've told some of my friends before that I've been watching this cool show recently called Cowboy Bebop, and they just laugh, calling it a "male strip bar." So not only is there no age demographic the movie appeals to, but the name Cowboy Bebop (Which I actually like) could alienate people from ever seeing it. The only people left that would watch it are losers, such as ourselves, which just isn't enough to make a movie succeed. :(

I don't think Columbia Tristar will have any illusions about Knockin' On Heaven's Door tearing up the box office in the US. Princess Mononoke didn't do very well, and that was an absolute megahit in Japan. I don't know how Cowboy Bebop did in Japan, but I'm sure it wasn't even close to Mononoke. But it still might be worth a limited release. Anime movies being released in theaters is something that's growing slowly, but it is growing. Look how much anime on television has increased in the last four years. The same thing could potentially happen with movies, but it's going to crawl before it runs.

I think this is the wrong place to be judging the popularity of Cowboy Bebop. I'm reasonably sure that very few of the people I work with (aged 25-5x) would know about Cowboy Bebop. CN has probably done a lot to help its visibility beyond the usual anime fans but still it's a limited scope.

It will probably be a limited release or a smaller "widespread" release when it's ready. Living just outside of NYC I'm sure that it will show somewhere nearby :)

I too think that they will give the movie a smaller release...
Unless CB suddenly gets as popular as Pokemon was in America...
Most people are too stupid to even looks past the name...
Some people I talked to a while back started making fun of the show because it's called "Cowboy Bebop"...
In America, people have been trained and programmed to think that Cartoons are kids stuff, and it will be a long time before that changes...
the release of more adult Anime in theaters is a huge step in the right direction, though...
Despite the saying, most Americans will "judge a book by its cover"...
I think that the genral opinion of the average American is that all anime is either Pokemon or Porn, so they just won't give it a chance...
this makes me very sad...

I am a huge cowboy bebop fan and did not know until now that the movie might be released in theaters. If it comes out in theaters then I will see it there. If they release it only on DVD I already have a slot in the box set that is just the right size for a movie. Either or both ways I am going to see it when it comes out but I do think that if it is in theaters it really will help Anime in America. Cowboy Bebop has a little something for everyone from drama, fighting, and comedy... The only reason I do not think cowboy Bebpo will ever become vastly popular is because it really is a short series. And there is nothing wrong with that. But I do not think that there is enough to get a huge following as othere series might. But who knows, maybe people will be able to see past the name (which is actually the reason I started watching it b/c it sounded different) My main point is I just want the movie as soon as possible...
