Anybody a fan of this toon?

A few years ago, I watched the entire series. It is my favorite show among shows that I didn't watch during their initial run. Back in ’91 when it first aired, I didn’t give it much of a chance because I had cut back on my toon watching a little and had missed the first couple of shows, so I was a little lost when I tried to watch an episode. The show had some great episodes, particularly in the first season. It is too bad all 13 treasures were never found. From what I've read, production costs and failure to meet deadlines lead to an early demise of the show during its second season.

I also got all 8 of the figures that came out MOC awhile back.

I remember watching this show when I was in the first grade if only for about a few episodes. My favorite character was that flying red monkey-bird looking creature. When I look back at clips of the show now, he really was an annoying little thing.

Wasn't it on Boomerang a couple of years back ?

I loved Pirates of Dark Water. I didn't even know it existed when it first aired though. I watched it when it was on Cartoon Network in 1993, back when it was pretty much a channel for Hanna Barbera and golden age toons.

Is this the show with that monkey/parrot thing? If so I remember watching it at my grandma's house like once or twice

I hated this show as a kid. I never watched more than 2-3 complete episodes though. The show was just really unappealing. I hated that it always seemed to be on in the weekends on CN.

But after so much praise the show gets online I decided to watch it and watched it all a year ago. And I no longer hate it, however its also not as great as some people make it out to be. While not a big fan of pirates and some unappealing character designs It didn't bother me as much. For its time I'm sure it was much better though which is why people remember it fondly, not many other american cartoons at the time had some kind of quest/continuity that followed.

I'd love to see this get a DVD release someday. I'm guessing WB owns the rights since it is Hanna-Barbera. I thought the perfect time would have been when the Pirates of the Carribean sequels were out.
