View Full Version : Elmer Fudd as Mike from Swingers?!

Every New Years, this random thought comes back into my mind, and with the Looney Tunes marathon Cartoon Network showed this year, I went nuts searching again to no avail. I'm desperate, and I turn to you folks.

Years ago (I estimate somewhere between 7 and 10), Cartoon Network did a Top 10 Looney Tunes countdown to New Year's Eve. And somewhere towards the end, I could have *sworn* that they did a bumper that re-enacted the "answering machine" scene from Swingers, with Elmer Fudd as Mikey calling Bugs ("Hi, this is Brunhillde, leave a message.").

Every once in a while, I search the internet for evidence that this existed, and I never find it (unfortunately, as you can imagine, any search term with the word "Swingers" in it is going to get a lot of ... false positives). I'm telling you, I SAW IT! Did I imagine this bumper? Does anyone else remember this or .. dare I hope .. know where I can find it?

No, it existed. It was a promo for "The Bugs and Daffy Show" that ran around 1997 or so. There were several "movie scene parodies", the earliest one was Shaggy (of "Scooby Doo") and Droopy in a car (referencing a scene in "Pulp Fiction"). Another featured Daphne ("Scooby Doo") referencing "I Know What You Did Last Summer".

That's great info, Matthew, thanks! I don't suppose there's a place out there that has CN bumpers like it? They do tend to have a lot of good ones, and I'd love to actually have a place to show this to the dozens of people I've told this to over the years who look at me like I'm nuts~

I'm "old school" enough to remember when they ran stuff like THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT1wXm-rqLo)...too bad they can't put that kind of creative effort into Boomerang, which is essentially the same thing CN was back then!

You know, I remember the spot with Shaggy and Droopy (I saw them in BOTH the CN USA and CN Japan) but I don't think I saw the others. If I see them then maybe it'll refresh my memory.
