Many of the best-known Peanuts specials are holiday specials (A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown, etc), but what non-holiday Peanuts specials do you think of as the most famous ones?

I feel like It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown, and She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown are among these non-holiday classics. I'm also sort of thinking You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown should be among these, but that could just be because it was recently released on DVD (as the main feature). Then again, You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown and Snoopy's Reunion are going to headline their own DVDs, yet my opinion on their popularity doesn't change because of it.

This is somewhat similar to a thread I started a few weeks ago, though yours a bit broader.

You know, as the years go by I start to get burnt out on the holiday specials because of how often you see them. There are so many terrific Peanuts specials that either never get any play on DVD anymore or haven't been seen in years because they're not available on DVD. Luckily, iTunes has a bunch of them available for download.

Your in Love, Charlie Brown, There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown and It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown are all terrific specials that are worth checking out, IMHO.

I always liked Race for your life, Charlie Brown.

I always liked Race for your life, Charlie Brown.

I can't get into Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown. It's too slow and meandering. And the girls get annoying very quickly with all that voting stuff. In my opinion, it's the least of the four Peanuts movies.

Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown was a movie, not a special; it was released theatrically.

And Race wasn't a favorite of mine either, for all of the reasons that DarthGonzo stated.

If you want a decent "girls vs boys" camping Peanuts special then look no futher than It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown, which you can download from Amazon on Demand and (I believe) iTunes.

I actually did like the movie, but I can totally understand why the girls voting would be seen as annoying. I especially thought that it was mean when they voted to save the boys after they fell in the river. And I also felt too bad for Charlie Brown when he was so close to winning and then the girls cost them the race. Still, I thought that it was an enjoyable film, but I prefer movies like Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown and Snoopy Come Home over Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown.

Wow, I think I've only seen a very small number of non-holiday Peanuts specials. Going down the list, I know I've seen Play It Again, Snoopy's Getting Maried, Super Bowl, and Best Birthday. Of those, I think Super Bowl is the worst. Why?

1.) I hated that bratty little kid who kicked her football 80 feet, 6 inches. I was literally jealous of her.

2.) The repetitive "X feet, Y inches!!!" after every kick, although after Patty kicked hers backwards, the call of "Minus 8 feet, 4 inches" was funny.

3.) The in-between scenes with Woodstock and his birdies pwning every other species (including some ridiculously small bison) didn't fit in at all, and the animation was the same for ALL of these scenes.

Best Birthday also gets points off for Linus being out of character. He is so not the skater type.

Oh, as for Play It Again, I don't remember anything from it. Getting Married was fine in that it was an adaptation of a story from the strip, but unlike other strip adaptations the story stood by itself without having to be a disjointed mix of strip adaptations stitched together (It's Christmastime Again suffers for not having a true storyline, even if the strips it's made of are very good).

You know, after reading the last few posts, in addition to reading several wikipedia pages on specials I haven't seen in a long time, I am almost tempted to start a seperate thread on which specials showd the other characters being the most mean to Charlie Brown. There are quite a few instances. But I'll have to think about it for a few days.

My idea for this thread actually comes from something that happened near the end of october. Around halloween, I jokingly asked some people if they wanted to sit in the pumpkin patch with me and wait for the great pumpkin, and at first they didn't know what I was talking about. So I teased them, saying they must live in caves, and remarked "I can see if you haven't heard of "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" or "You're in the Superbowl, Charlie Bown," but not "It's the Great Pumpkin".

Is there any special where no one is mean to Charlie Brown? :p

not technically a special, but the movie "Bon Voyage Charlie Brown" when Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoppy, Woodstock, Peppermint Patty and Marcie was very good and it's not aired often although Teletoon in Canada did aired 2 or 3 times once.

Yeah, this one really is begging for a DVD release, along with it's follow-up TV special, What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?

I don't think anybody is intentionally mean to Charlie Brown in It's the Easter Beagle, What Have We Learned...?, Why, Charlie Brown, Why?, or It's the Pied Piper.
