Anyone have any ideas on what CN can do to make this block better than it is now? I'll start....

1. New animations for The King. New bumps and maybe a 5 minute little adventure for him every week, kinda like one of the CN Wedgies shorts...

2. Remember the 2 minute Bionicle shorts than ran for a couple of weeks during YAH? Some do and some don't but it was cool and a nice added extra, stuff like this makes the block special...

3. Now that CN has expanded their [adult swim] block YAH could move to 7pm and add 2 more shows to the lineup.....any suggestions on the shows???

4. Keep the opening and closing the same, they are great, but for holidays maybe they could switch it up with a holiday theme....Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years ect ect.....

Any suggestions??? Here is my fantasy YAH lineup....

7:00 - Batman: The brave and the bold
7:30 - The Secret Saturdays
8:00 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars
8:30 - Ben 10: Alien Force
9:00 - Naruto either the regular or Shippuden
9:30 - Transformers Animated

I think the bumps could be changed up. Instead of just "King hanging around the block/screen", they could...

- repackage already existing show-specific bumps with the golden background.

- have some bumps which are just King animations, kinda like how Toonami had those 15-second generic bumps in between shows not advertising anything

- have the King interact with other Noods or obstacles

If YAH moved to 7, I'd like to see...

7:00 Batman: TBATB (can be switched out with Transformers Animated)
7:30 Ben 10: Alien Force
8:00 The Secret Saturdays
8:30 Star Wars: The Clone Wars
9:00 Naruto Shippuden
9:30 Funi-dubbed One Piece, from beginning

I'm not from over there but if i could make the YAH! lineup, here's how it would be:

7:00 - Sonic X (new) or One Piece (new)
7:30 - Pokémon (rerun)
8:00 - The Secret Saturdays (new)
8:30 - Batman: The Brave and the Bold (new)
9:00 - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (new)
9:30 - Naruto Shippuden (new)

I don't think I would want repackaged bumps for YAH, The King is the face of the block and brand new bumps for him would be great. I'm sure we will see some next year (Janurary). Also, intraction with other Noods would be awesome, it would show character and help to bring more of an identity to The King.

All in all I am sure we will see more bumps and the such next year, they seem like they are 100% behind the block...

Considering this is an action block, make the King do something more action-like. Mabey have him fight off some other Noods, or have a punching bag, or something. After that they should get some more shows. Originals or aquisitions... (and I mean keep them like you do TDI, Noods and all. ;))

Maybe during Clone Wars, The King could fight off enemies from the show as a bump, or during TSS he could be doing something funny with Fiskerton. Stuff lime that. I am sure that we will get new bumps after seeing some of the new promos CN has aired with The King doing some things.

I bet since YAH debuted in October and only had a couple months before the end of the month they decided to keep things the same and work behind the scenes on new material, or at least I hope....

Sonic X is done. There aren't going to be any new episodes. And anyway, Cartoon Network didn't produce Sonic X, and that series has never aired on CN here in the U.S.

I meant reruns... sorry:p

But having Sonic X on Cartoon Network would be kinda cool, right? How would the Nood bumpers look like?

I think a cool one would be Sonic running so fast that his colors can't catch up.

Blackstar

I could see Sonic X running (sorry!) on Cartoon Network, but not as part of You Are Here, since there are no new episodes to air. I just think that YAH should be kept exclusively to new series and not contain reruns of canceled shows as filler. If any show, canceled or not, can air as part of YAH, then how is the block different than any other time on CN's schedule? After all, a club is no longer exclusive is everyone can join.

Agreed. YAH is the destination for new action cartoons and should be the place for the "new and fresh" stuff. If they begin airing reruns then the ratings would dip and we would risk losing this fun block....

Yeah, that can boost up ratings... but what kind of action shows that are new can be on cn?

CN has action shows that are not on YAH with new episodes that are going on and/or coming like Transformers Animated, Bakugan and others. Also with Di-Gata Defender leaving 4K!dsTV CN could pick this up and air it on YAH or DAS....

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here. If a show is truly new, then it hasn't aired anywhere or even been made yet.

But if you mean an action show with first-run episodes which isn't currently airing anywhere else that could be a good fit for You Are Here, then I have 2 possible suggestions:
A lot of people who have stated that Naruto should be airing on YAH; if they're still under contract with CN and the show is still making first-run episodes, then why not run the premiere episodes of Naruto as part of the YAH block?
I know this one is about as likely to happen as scientists finding proof that the Tooth Fairy exists, and then some network giving her her own late-night talk show after Leno, but it would be nice to see the remaining 8 unaired episodes of Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes on YAH. Of course that'll never happen since FF:WGH didn't gel ratings-wise on CN, and the show is currently airing on Boomerang. Add to that how the live-action movie franchise didn't take off, and that's enough proof that CN is done with the show.

Basically, I want new bumpers for The King, and add new shows like Naruto: Shippuden and One Piece (FUNI dub). Also, schedule it so there is at least half of the block's shows running that have new episodes.

Blackstar
12-28-2008, 10:24 PM
Why not just scrap the block and start from scratch?

Because people are watching and enjoying the shows that air on the block. You may not personally like where Cartoon Network is right now, but the channel's target demographic apparently does, and that's all that CN's execs care about. As a personal favor to me, let's please have no more "CN sucks now!" noise. That happens far too often on this board.

Blackstar
12-28-2008, 10:37 PM
It was just a suggestion not a statement.

Since it has been brought up ... Cartoon Network doesn't totally suck. We should give them credit for still continuing to air some classic cartoons in their schedule. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't improve ... because they definitely do. Now that's a statement. ;-)

This thread about the You Are Here Block, so let's keep it about that, M'Kay? I can't tell you how tired I am of hearing fans of old school complaining about how CN was so much better 10-15 years ago. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the discussion, pelase don't post here.

Impossible. Because CW4Kids currently has the rights to the show. And WILL air the series when 4Kids TV goes off the air next year.Ben 10: Alien Force

Unless CN makes an announcement. Ben 10: Alien Force will remain in the 9:30 pm slotStar Wars: The Clone Wars

Samething with Alien Force. It will retain it's 9 pm time frame.Batman: Brave and the Bold

Samething with Alien Force. It will retain it's 8 or 8:30 pm slot. Whichever slot it was on during the 2008 year.

Because the block has a viewership and the shows are doing quite well in the ratings and people tend to like it.....

Why would they kill it???

Mugsy
12-28-2008, 11:59 PM
If the block is doing that well, then why is their a NEED to change it? Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "If it ain't broke, why fix it?"?

The thread is about what people here would like to see different, personaly if the block stayed the same I wouldn't care any less. Since YAH is doing well with the 10-14 crowd the older crowd could be "wowed" more and Thats what this thread is for.

YAH isn't perfect, but it is good. In fact it's GRrreeaat!! And so are frosted flakes.....yeah.....

Eh, I only wished that they added One Piece and Naruto: Shippuden to the line-up, but that was when it ended at 11'o clock. Shippuden since they aired part one and need something else from, and One Piece since FUNi is still persistent for getting the series back on TV screens from what I've heard, I don't care if they go back from the beginning or go back to where they left off and what Australia has.

Class of the Titans is a Canadian series, but it's never aired on Cartoon Network as of yet, so it could conceivably be run as part of You Are Here. It would be new to us Yanks, because most of us have never seen the show. Heck, I've never seen Class of the Titans, although I was aware of it.

Yeah, Di-Gata Defenders and Clash of the Titans would be pretty good fits for You Are Here. If you acquire the Canadian comedies, you might as well get the Canadian action too. These two shows should be on as they're just about the best current action shows not on the air in the U.S., save for anime. Both shows have over 50 eps, so weekday slots are possible, but I'd be OK with weekly eps until other shows coming down the pike take their place (Transformers Animated Season 3, for example). They can run daily once the audience is exposed to them for a while.

Well, there's still 34 episodes that haven't aired in the U.S. (episodes 8-13 and 27-52). But if you mean world premiere episodes, the show has seemingly ceased production in Canada, its country of origin...

If American CN viewers haven't seen the Di-Gata episodes, then they're new to them. ;)

Johnny Test hasn't made any first-run episodes since it arrived on CN, and it's apparently doing great there. Heck, a lot of folks on the internet though JT was a CN original when it first debuted on the network.

Personally I Think You are here is a great block...I still miss Cartoon Cartoon Fridays...Even after all thses Years..But Now Without Toonami YAH is the only place for good action cartoons,,,I'd say the only thing I don't like is that its 4 hours long but only has 2 hours of programming. I Think they should add some more Like TFA season 3 would be perfect for YAH and so would shows Like Naruto:SHippuden, PPGZ & Blue Dragon (I realize BD is on jetstream but sadly my PC has trouble playing Jetstream shows.) I really Think If YAH is given more Varity in 09...CN will Finally be able TO appease the few still mad at them for Caceling toonami...despite what I though I Easily Forgave CN after Seeing the 1st few Eps of Clone wars.:D ( I hope that doesn't mean im fickle. :p  )

I agree, a couple more shows would do the trick but you know what, with AS starting at 10 now that leaves YAH with 2 hours and they don't have the 3rd hour of repeats anymore...

here's what i project

7.0 Encoring Series 1
7.5 Encoring Series 2
8.0 Premiring Series 1
8.5 Star Wars (Encore)
9.0 Star Wars (New)
9.5 Premiring Series 2

Now to explain this. A premiring series is a series with new episodes to air, while an encoring series is a series that is currently in repeats.

Additional series that would air are The Secret Saturdays, Ben 10: Alien Force, Batman: Brave and the Bold, and Transformers:Animated

so basically all I did is added an hour, a star wars encore slot, and transformers animated, while rotating the schedule around to maximize ratings

CN doesn't reply to emails. They act upon them.

Example: I was tired of Brave/Bold not getting previews for next episodes, and more than two airings a week, so I emailed CN about the matter. What do you know, two weeks later they had 4-5 Batman airings for the next two weeks. (The past two weeks.) It now gets previews for next episodes, and more airings than it used too.
