Well, who here other than me is a car enthusiast?
I'm getting a new car soon(I have my driving permit currently) and my choices so far are: Infiniti G37 Sedan or an Audi A4(the new ones are really sleek looking)
so post about your cars and the such!

I have a 1992 sundance america hatchback. It looks like this but it is blue.

Nice little car, too, except for the crumbling paint, the non working interior light, the leaking oil, and all of the other problems that come with having a 17 year old car.

pretty cool.
well, since I don't have a car yet, I'm driving my parents(with my permit), so here is what they have:
Dads Mercedes CLS 500, 301 horsepower, 5.0L V8 engine:

I don't have a car, so I either drive my mom's '98 Ford Windstar or my dad's '99 Ford F-150. When I get my own car I want something small.

I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre, and it's like a sparkly silver-blue color. I bought it in South Dakota, and I got it for a pretty good deal, at about $5,000. Only one owner had it before me, and they took REALLY good care of it, so when I bought it, it was in excellent shape (and still is.:) ) Not to mention it had a brand new transmition put in it 6 months before I bought it. As of 2 days ago on the 26th, I've had it for a year. What I'm really impressed about my car is the gas mileage. I can drive for 2 hours to Rapid City and only use a quarter of a tank to get there.:D

Don't even get me started on cars, I'll fatten this thread like a balloon. I own a 1975 VW Beetle that I'm trying to sell to get an automatic, classic VW's are some of my favorites which these new VW's don't live up to once so ever, they look like any other car today and have ridiculous names like Tourag. Whatever happened to names like Type 1 Sedan? Whatever happened to VW's being simple cheap practical innovative reliable vehicles?

I don't have a car because I need money for it, but I need a car to get to any job that I would have to get the car that I would need to get to any job that I would have to get the car that I… okay, you get the point.

Glad to see some other car enthusiasts out there. So anyone like some of the cars in my family?
oh and Ickis: one of my parents friends has a classic VW bug, from about 1970 or something. He keeps it in great shape!

I've never been one for trucks, but thats probably because I don't need one for my purposes or where I live, but my Mom's Mercedes GL 450 SUV is pretty nice(picture in an above post).

My dad had an old Mazda RX-7 a long time ago, he loved the car.

Its accually a "hand me down" vehicle, but as long as the truck serves a purpose (which it does and has done for me), then its good. Im not a truck person, but its not bad really. With gas being as low as it is, its decent vehicle to drive. like 30 bucks can fill that truck up if its bone dry empty.
I like Mookie car, i love Mazda. My first car was a Mazda 323DX 3 door hatch, i loved it. Despite the fact of the minor "fixer upper" parts on it, i loved that car to death. Im trying to get in the process of saving some money and getting a used Mazda 3 or 6 for a decent price. I might get a better deal if its a manual transmission, because i miss driving stickshift. And i like Mazda transmissions/clutch style too, very easy and light weight.
Ah, one day I will...

Lol, glad you like my dads Mercedes.
Its a realy sleek looking car I agree, but Bond usually drives an Aston Martin. a couple of my friend's dad's have aston martins and those are some nice looking cars, mush faster than the Mercedes too! But, I think for my dad's next car, he may get a Porsche Carrera 4S or a Turbo or something, which would be AWESOME!
but again, thanks for the praise! :anime:

I have a black 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S. Not a fancy car by any stretch of the imagination, but it only had 7 miles on it when I got it (over 19,000 now) and it has reliably taken me across the country multiple times. It's a really great little car and I love driving it.

Yeah, really.
My first car (in 1997) was a 1990 Dodge Spirit that I paid for out of pocket. I currently drive a 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertible. I bought it outright when I should have leased it.
Oh well. Live and learn.

I drive a 2007 Santa Fe. It is a pretty nice SUV, which is good, I like having the space and being up a bit higher. I have to say though, my sister has a Grand-Am, and I have had to drive it a couple of times and I absolutely hate it. My mom told me she too dislikes small cars now that she has a Jeep Liberty.

Glad to see other car nuts as well, it's only been the in the last year or so in which I really started to take an interest in cars and now I'm almost obsessed with them. As of now, I drive a 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer, and mine looks pretty much exactly like the one in the picture. It's a terrific SUV in my opinion, even though we got the V6 model instead of waiting for a V8 like the SS model, it still has crazy good acceleration. It's a comfortable drive for sure, but as for me, I appreciate vehicles that can handle going off road and the TrailBazer isn't very good when the pavement ends.

Good luck with getting that Hummer, they are pretty cool cars. I think the H3s are pretty cheap though!
My brother in law has a Hummer H1, its a CRAZY car, just like a tank.
here is a picture of his Hummer outside is vacation home in Utah:

He may have sold it, but I'm not sure. Since he never really needed the car, it was just something for fun, and parts are hard to find for it, since they stopped making it, and for that same reason it was expensive, so he could get good money for it

I'd get a car that is cheap to run and reliable. That's why I drive a 1998 Honda Civic HX CVT coupe that gets 32 to 36 miles per US gallon fuel efficiency.
Right now, I would seriously consider getting a 2009 Honda Civic LX sedan.

Sweet Zombie Jesus, that H1 is impressive. Owning one of those would be a dream come true, especially if it happened to be the Alpha model, but they typically run up over $100 grand in addition to being hard as hell to find, so that's never going to happen. But if I did own one, I'd rarely use it. It's not the type of vehicle you drive to and from work, that's for sure. It'd be my weekend car.
The H3 is within my reach though. In a few years time, an early used V6 H3 ought to be relatively affordable.

Nice, good luck with the H3. I think my brother in law did pay over $100,000 for the H1, and he sold it for close that too. I was kinda sad he sold it, but he is a car collector, so he buys and sells cars all the time. He has like ferraris and exotics and stuff like that.
glad you liked the H1 pic though.

I used to have a 2000 Toyota Corolla. Good car, until it got an oil leak in the engine- now it acts up on long trips. I actually ended up trading it with my mother for her 2006 Subaru Forester, since she doesn't have to commute as far as I do. I hate SUVs, but it's okay for now. Hopefully I'll have money for a new car in the next six months or so.

Ive been thinking on what to buy when i save some dough in the next few months. I love Mazda, and i think the only Mazda car i would ever drive would be a Miata. The only problem with that is its a 2 seater. Sure, i dont take alot of people with me, but its still nice to have some extra seating somewhere for them.
But its light weight and pretty get up and go i would say (like my 323 was). Id like to find a deal on a Mazda 3 or 6 if i can.
I dunno, still thinking. That or a MR2, but then again, its a 2 seater. Ah, i love Initial D too much...

Just a random question, but does your family have something against American cars? It seems your family owns nothing but foreign stuff. Don't get me wrong, some foreign cars are great, but so are some of the domestic cars we have here. Your family seems to have deep pockets, why not a top model Corvette instead of the Porsche? A V8 Camaro when it releases in March? Hell, what about a Cadillac CTS-V or Dodge Viper? Those are pretty expensive, performance oriented cars that a person with a higher level of income could enjoy.

My parents dont' have anything againts american cars. Neither does any of my family. My brother in law has quite a few american cars actually. He even has a Ford GT(one of the new ones). My dad has a client who has the Cadillac CTS-V and supposedly its not a quality made car. And in my opinion, I like the look of a porsche over a corvette or a cadillac. Yea, you get a fast car, but chances are you take that fastness out on the road, one of the 2 will happen to the driver. Unless in CA, nobody really cares.
Ive got no problem with a Porsche, i like them. And speaking of Ferrari's, the president of Epic Games drives around the Raleigh NC area with either a Ferrari F40 or a Lamborgini Diablo from time to time. Ive seen them both on occasion. There's a lot of SUV negativity here though. For me, I'm totally ok with having to pay more often for gas because of the advantages the Trailblazer offers over sedans and other cars. It's great being able to see over traffic and ahead of you, and for that reason passing others cars is much easier. And pretty often I'll have a bunch of crap that I need to transport that would be too much too fit into a sedan.

Is it me or are people more positive toward SUVs than they are about mini-vans? My mom uses hers like a truck, and I think it's cool to take the seats out and carry stuff around. Yet, if you had a van in high school you were lame and if you had a suv you weren't.

You do realize that a Ferrari makes way less gas milege than an SUV. The faster the vehicle, the more gas it guzzles.

Yea, which in any accident, its a costly thing to repair.
Ive never seen your dad drive, so i dont know if hes a speed demon or just babies nice cars like other "rich" people do.
I will say this, if you really truly want to appreciate a vehicle, buy something that will take time and effort in to maintaining and adding add ons. You will appreciate more out of something you put effort and heart into than something thats flashy in which if it wrecks, there goes half a million right there.
And what i ment in the other post, dont be stupid and decide to go joy riding and wind up with your bro in law ferarri halfway into the playboy mansion (because i would laugh at your sorry self if you did, becasue it would be on the news). Your lying if you think you can "dive safe" in something nice like that, its just a guy thing. We like fast things, and want to drive them that way, its just nature.
I personally am not a big Ferrari fan, because thats just me. If i had one, id take the thing to the track every now and then, because thats what that type of car belongs to, on a track, than urban america, my personal opinion. I would have to, because theres no way i could afford the car payment and the tickets i would get LOL.

I'm sorry for kinda jumping on you. just a misunderstanding. And for my car, I will of course be as safe as I can be, and learn about the car, I do appreciate cars, and I will take time to find out what makes the car I'm driving tick, not just drive it around recklessly.
Oh, and I actually live about 2 blocks away from the playboy mansion, and there is NO way you could drive a car through there lol, so much security and the walls/fences are high up,you can't even see inside. Though, I do here the music from their parties all the time, and see their fireworks, lol.

I'm not against SUVs because of the gas and stuff, I just like fast small cars personally. My mom's car look really nice though, its a very good looking SUV(the Mercedes GL 450)
Another reason I would prefer a Sedan, is just that we don't really need a big SUV to transport people. It's all about the engine. Most real SUVs come with a V8 stock, that's power. A minivan.....not even close, and it doesn't help that minivans are pretty ugly too. For what's it's worth, I think crossover SUVs are just as bad as minivans, even with their power. They're even uglier than vans.
And that new Mercedes is cool and all, but I don't know, if I was getting a new car, I'd want it to be different than the one I'm currently driving and you have to admit it's not too different that the Mercedes you showed on the first page, aside from the big difference of being a roadster. I'm not saying like get a different make, but I'd at least get a different color, because if not, I'd feel like I'm paying for something I already have. PErsonally, if I got a Mercedes, it would be the G Class. That's a mean looking vehicle.

I guess you have a point, but it is my dad's car and that is what he wants lol. He doesn't like much change, he has had a black car with chrome rims since I've been born haha. He loves it, and hes been with mercedes for a while, he had two E classes before the CLS, and now the SL. G class is pretty cool, but knowning my dad, he would NEVER even consider it lol. My brother in law does have a special edition G 500 convertible though. its like one of 500 in the US or the world, its pretty sweet. I also think my dad didn't want much change from the CLS.
and yah, even thought I'm not a fan of SUVs, my mom's GL 450 SUV does have a V8, and some good horsepower, so its pretty cool.

Sorry for the old bump, but...
I got a new car. Was browsing craigslist a few months ago and found something that really caught my eye, a 1983 el camino with only 56,000 miles and a low price. I went and checked out the car and fell in love with it. It's still not on the road, but I've already gotten a lot of work done to it, such as a new battery and and priming the entire car because some rust spots were on the hood and roof. I still need new tires, weatherstripping, a side mirror for the passenger side, lights, and some velcro for the carpet behind the seats, but otherwise, it's ready for the road. After I get all that taken care of, as well as insurance and tagging it, I'll get a steel blue paint job since the car was originally a two-tone blue but since I'm not too big a fan of that so I'm going with the darker blue all over. Right now it's a blackish-greyish color because of the primer though.
After all that, I'll still be making additions to it. Thinking about getting a new dash, and I definitley need a steering wheel cover because the wheel has a certain stickiness to it that's impossible to get off. And best of all, the owner had all the original chrome trim so after I get the paint job all of that is getting put back on. I'm really in love with the car, it's been a great project so far.
Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my specific car, but this is one that looks exactly like it. It's very polarizing, you either love it or you hate it.

I love those! The Monte Carlo styled El Camino was the best since the '72.
Any ways, who knows what the Ford Maverick is? No one? Well I own a great 1970 Grabber version of this car and, IMO, it couldn't be any cooler!
Oh, yeah, I also own an '03 Dodge Neon, but it's nothin' special.
